Just compare the fun, laid backed atmosphere over in EUDD to AUDD, it's like night and day.
You're right - there is a huge difference between AusDD and E&ADD. This is easily explained in that their social and drug discussion is combined with a separate forum for their events. The Australian side of the board has a separate drug discussion committed to HR - not saying E&ADD isn't committed to HR - and our social and events forums are combined into one.
If the mods really wanted to change bluelight to a much more focused HR site then prune those comments out of threads. I'd also suggest reading through classic bluelight.
It's a double edged sword really. If we don't prune out certain comments then we're frustrating one side of the house while appeasing the other. If we do prune them out then we're accused of 'draconic' or 'over moderation'.
It's a careful balancing act in an attempt to find a happy medium.
perhaps the bigger problem is that bluelight is moving to a new generation of drug taking. There seems to be a colder harsher reality to drug use then what I have been used to.
This is something that has been raised in the staff development discussion and undoubtedly one of the issues we're facing. Once again, it's a careful balancing act trying to keep the 'old school' Bluelighters happy, while still trying to impart good HR practice on those not prepared to read long winded or scholarly posts.
the moderators (in my opinion) have a hidden agenda.
I'm not sure what you're implying by a 'hidden agenda' but I can assure you that the only agenda is to provided pertinent HR information to those who need it most.
And what is with people saying theres a whole bulletin board to explore? The thread is about AusDD Ideas, Opinions and Directions for 2010(not about the whole of bluelight), and we're straight up telling you that the board is completely shit and dosn't seem to be changing direction, and then you guys are getting all defensive and trying to deflect attention away from the fail of AusDD and saying we should be exploring what the rest of the site has to offer, sorry but thats not even what the thread is about.
AusDD is a regional microcosm of the Bluelight forum. When we are talking about development then it needs to be considered in the context of what the sites about, its goals and its additional included content.
There's no point re-inventing the wheel if there's already one in the next room!!!
Basically the mods are completely killing this place. And go ahead and censor me, ban me whatever i seriously dont give a shit anymore, and neither do alot of other people.
Statements convey a thought but offer no suggestion of improvement. If we, as mods, are killing this place then how do you suggest we fix it?
after all we are a community and we can work through these issues together but we need to work as a community.
No sides or arguing, just debating and working through. I remember when I first joined and started learning all this wonderful information how happy and PLURy every one here was. Lets all think really hard before we post.
You've hit the nail on the head there Jake. If there is to be change then we need to work together to make these changes. If these threads are just used to sling mud, while offering up no suggestions, than those slinging the mud are only doing themselves and their fellow members a disservice.
So should we say/post whats on our mind??..... or say what "bluelight" says what should be on our mind? Many people are worried about being banned and having to start as "greenlighters" again
Of course you should post what's on your mind. The only limitation is that it's within the guidelines - which shouldn't be too hard to do!!!
Just remember the
guidelines and the
Bluelight User Agreement are just as much about protecting you and the site but to also ensure an enjoyable experience can be had by all.
