Gotta agree with the social thread. I know there's Aus Social and it's great, but for most members who post in AusDD it's just a hassle.

Yea its nice but we want a social thread to chat about legal/illegal drugs not sum random things otherwise id head down to my local pub and chat with all the oldies lol

The Mods trialled it months back but those that participated in the social thread ruined it for everyone else and brought about it's subsequent demise. Aus social have been making some unorthodox moves lately to get some of us posting over there but as we all know there is drug talk there.

I firmly believe that a social thread in AusDD flies in the face of all of the HR goals we are trying to achieve here and sends the wrong message to those that are reading. Basically keep the social talk to MSN as we all already do and use BL for what it is, a harm reduction resource.
 
Squiggle - as fucked in the head as he may be - raises a valid point in regards to the direction of the forum and its content.

The user base has obviously changed - as has the majority of the content - but in what direction is AusDD moving. What changes are we going to see from the embedded mods and those who have just joined???

C'mon give em some time, I'm sure DM and Mr Blonde are more than capable of turning this forum into what it should be.

They're both top blokes, give em a chance to contribute eh ;)

I think most mods/ex mods would agree that standing on the other side of the fence gives a very different view of things :)
 
ahh, RIP social thread... those were the days... it's a pity the ignoramuses ruined it for everyone - I reckon that thread was about the most fun I've had on these boards, in all these years, lol.

RIP indeed.
 
My memory is terrible, the last couple of years especially for a couple of non-drug related reasons, but I don't think I was around to see the end of the social thread here. I vaguely remember D_M starting it up, but I definitely don't remember being around when it got all fucked up and was closed.

I've talked to d_m about it and my understanding is that it became a 'how high are you right now' type of thing, and degenerated into a thread for a certain group of users to the exclusion of others or something like that, like I say though this was during my absence from BL and I am going off what I've heard/think I've heard.

Anyway as to direction of this forum... anyone got any ideas?

I've got a few personal thoughts but I've just woken up so I'm gonna wait a little while to... percolate them.
 
Why can't we have a social thread but with strict rules in place. The EADD forum allows drug discussion and social thread's.

I reckon we should give the social thread another go and follow these rules/guidelines.
 
^ There doesn't seem to be much staff support for the idea from what I've seen so far, but I am definitely open to the suggestion.

Just a suggestion: If you had heroin discussion threads that allow talk about availability, general quality, like other continental forums (EADD, ect...) and not characterize such discussion as sourcing provided specifics are avoided (specific places and prices avoided) you might better fulfill BL's Harm Reduction mandate and decrease the incidence of relapse. Don't worry info won't be passed on to LEOs that they don't know- they have a sea of snitches to provide them with that- just a suggestion, not trying to be critical.

I'd like to see what kind of demand there is for such a thread in this forum right now? Do we have a sufficient number of heroin users who would utilize such a thread?
 
I guess the first question that needs to be asked is - How much HR value is to be garnered from what would effectively be a Heroin Info Request thread???

Pill Info Request and LSD Info Request threads work because these mediums are generally easily identifiable through a detailed description of identifying features and/or pictures. Heroin, or any other powders for that matter, are not easily identifiable simply because of the nature of the medium.

It's my opinion that a Heroin Info Request thread would actually work against the goals of the site as it could create an unnecessary and dangerous false sense of security for IDUs.
 
i would think sourcing behind the scenes or flat out in the thread may also be a problem to arise as is the case in many of the other threads hosted by regional forums. personally i don't see much demand for such a thread as there aren't a great deal of heroin based questions asked at this point in time through the forum from what i can see.

i noticed weemans insomnia help thread kind of turned into a bit of a general insomnia thread and might be good to have a thread that has info about what australians use to help them sleep.
 
lil: That is a big problem there. And if the thread was just made about bad batches going around, it would attract less immediate attention to it unlike a new thread made that in the title states that there has been an OD in this or that city.

lefty: Yeah I don't really see the demand for it either. I will check out the thread in EADD and see how it is run, and get an idea for what exactly is being requested. :)

I vaguely remember there being one in the past... maybe in the archive?

OD might have a specific insomnia thread.

We could start one up, I'd like to see a proper thread that is along the lines of an FAQ or something. A first post that has information about the topic, commonly used medicines and their risks, contraindications, safe use. A good thing to include would also be tips on how to avoid tolerance associated with relying on just one drug to treat the problem.
 
This forum should give away clean drugs to keep the dangerous stuff away from the inoccent kiddies
