^I used to spin Pretentious just like you, man.
err, progressive.
Let me tell you why your opinion isn't valid:
I once spun the "genre" that you spin. Except I did it better than ANY of the guys in your avatar... I paid 32.50 per ticket(times 3 of us) to see Sasha and Digweed play.
Within the FIRST 15 MINUTES, they had already trainwrecked twice and had several miscues and even a skipping CD.
Now, I implore you... do you stick around and ride it out, hoping to get your 100 dollars worth, or do you bail--knowing it gets no better from here?
I stuck around.
Through-out the next 2.5ish hours, the only thing that they could do that I couldn't involved their track selection--I guess if I produced a bunch of tracks and played only my shit, I'd be rocking something that noone had ever heard before TOO!!
But wait, it gets better... this was 2002... how many years since "progressive" started? It hadn't progressed ANYWHERE in 3 years up until that point, and NOW the only progression has been into breaks and electro--which NOW you've tried to label as progressive...
electro is older than you or I. And ya know what? It's a HELL of a lot older than progressive... so how are you not calling progressive ELECTRO?
lastly, EVERY proggy punk I have ever talked to has said that progressive is better than other genre's because of long, seamless mixes...
yea, and they are long and seemless because they are the SAME BEAT FOR 3 HOURS!
I can hold progressive mixes for upwards of 10 minutes if I have enough track to do it.. and I do it on 3 decks, 2 CDJ's and ableton... so I implore you yet again...
tell me how I am ignorant! ignorance is never trying something and hating on it.
I've tried it and it was no challenge, mentally, or as a DJ. It is going nowhere that we haven't already been. At this point, it's REGRESSIVE HOUSE/*TRANCE at 128-133bpm*
so go back to mixing, homie...
unf unf unf unf.
hah. sucker. please post some more trance so that you may lull me to sleep.
