the official 2011-12 college b-ball thread vers. BASKETYHOOPS

i'm bumping this for the vols. at 14-12, we actually have a shot at the tourney.

we've beat florida both times this year and have been on a hot streak over the last two weeks.

bammer game tomorrow will be huge.

bubble team, bitches.
 
Great win for the Cats last night. Miller playing like a senior and MKG is becoming quite unguardable.

AD still in the run for the triple crown. =D
 
Kentucky's ballin very well at this point of the season. I was watching for the upset, I'll admit, but good teams have to come through till the end (on the road)

tOSU just smacked Illinois at home, avenging their loss in Champaign at the beginning of the season. at points, that game's score was in shocking numbers like 55-25, tOSU. as a fan, this season has been aging me. I don't know which Buckeyes squad will show up, at times. it's either a team that beats a good team by 20, or a team that gets edged/edges over in a game against another great opponent

college basketball this year has some tough competition, up and down the rosters! and I'm not just saying this because I'm a Big Ten dude, an especially brutal b-ball conference this year. but even as a fan from that conference I can still give props to other just-as-skilled teams/conferences. the SEC is always difficult at the very top and the Big 12 makes a yearly contention for NCAA top conference

and who is the true winner here, by viewing such great competition? well besides the fan... the NBA. this year's NBA Draft is going to explode with talent. this is another reason as to why I hope the Mayans' are wrong!!

Another gritty effort by Vandy but AD is just so damn good. Miller and Teague making some nice contributions which I like because Jones and MKG didnt have great games.
 
anybody hear about UCLA, lately?

they've had some success, I think they appeared in three consecutive Final Fours, and that in and of itself is a major feat... however, it also looks as if their coach doesn't have discipline over his team

apparently, extreme fights/hazing have been the norm over in that program in the last four years or so. apparently, players constantly show up blazed out for practice. I even read a report that said some guys would show up to practice the next morning, still slightly rolling (afterglow anyone?) from the night before

as a Buckeyes fan, I'm just like, shit -- glad it's not me or mine!!

Wyld's Cats are looking good. my Buckeyes are still up and down, after losing by a big man shooting a trey in the final seconds at home :( it's sad, my Buckeyes team was once a lock for the Final Four. now, I would be praising the Ghost of Woody Hayes if they get near the FF! at least Michigan State got upset by Indiana, so tOSU still has a chance to win the conference

I've said it before but MAN is the Big Ten BRUTAL this year. I hope most of these opposing players get drafted or something!
 
WOO HOO! the Buckeyes beat Michigan State at MSU, by two points, for a share of the Big Ten Title! it kinda sucks to share that title with both MSU and Michigan, but it's better than no title

WOO HOO! I don't have much more to add than that right now!!
 
I'm not sure how I can handle UK's domination right now. I know they are that good but March Madness is a whole different level. It's all about AD. As he goes, the Cats go with him.

you guys are sick. best team in the country, but like you said, anything can happen in march.

last night had a couple of great games with Saint Marys over Gonzaga in OT and Davidson over W. Carolina in double OT. i fucking love march.

my vols are not finished yet. i cannot believe we ended up in 2nd in the SEC when we predicted to finish 11th. Cuanzo deserves sec coach of the year. if we can pull out two wins in the sec tourney, i think we're in.

St Mary's is going to upset someone in the big dance.

11th...just goes to show you that "experts" dont know as much as they think they do. The Vols have played well all season from what I've seen. Good luck on grabbing a ticket to the dance.
 
UK looks great, no denying that

since the Buckeyes beat Michigan State @ MSU, I think they got a LOT of momentum swinging their way at just the right time. I think if tOSU wins the Big Ten Tourney, it would be absurd to not have them as a #1 seed for March Madness

and hopefully it will be a REAL #1 seed, unlike last year's March Madness where our bracket was STACKED with monster teams...

I am so excited for March Madness, btw. one of the best sporting events in all of sports, for sure. it just sucks that it's SO HARD to win the whole thing. even getting to the Final Four is a feat unto itself these days. winning a National Championship for NCAA BB is like winning the lottery on top of your team being unthinkably awesome that season `

If the Drexel Dragons get in LOOK OUT. Definitely capable of being a 12-5 upset, even 13-4. They're good pick Drexel first round im tellin you

I'm not gonna blame the refs for Tennessee getting ruined by ole piss tonight, but they missed a very critical call on an inbound play with about 15 seconds left in OT. Oh well, next year we'll be good. I still love march. Lots of good ball tonight. How about cuse gettin knocked off?!?! Bam!

it's great to see Jim Boheim lose. he's had so much scandal in his career, but he has remained largely unfettered due to being untouchable
 
Really hoping MSU loses tomorrow. I need this. Someone who lives in Wisconsin, make it happen.

MSU losing before they face the Buckeyes in the probable Big Ten Championship Game would be my dream come true!
