the official 2011-12 college b-ball thread vers. BASKETYHOOPS

rule number one in life: don't fuck with the gophers

dave winfield was apart of that gopher team

yeah the baseball hall o famer dave winfield

and wasn't sure about that year so i wiki'ed it like a fag and it was '72

i'll use this opportunity to selfishly list other notable gopher alum because i have a feeling most people feel there is no historical relevance at that university, athletically

tony dungy, herb brooks, tom lehman, bobby marshall (first african american nfl'er), paul molitor, and ric flair

fucking gophers man

so sick of this bullshit

had it won at the end of regulation, missed the front end of 1 and 1 and blew it

lose in double OT @ illinois

would have been a dope way to open big ten play

now there's no hope :(

A Gator fan laments..

Start the season in the top 10-ish...cool.

Lose at Ohio fucking state....depressing, but acceptable as we're on the road and they are a top 3 team.

Lose at Syracuse...disappointed, but acceptable as we're on the road and they are a top 3 team.

Visiting family in NJ over the holidaze, take the wife for a look-see at Rutgers arena...leading by 7 with about 2 min left....overtime. Vomit. Double overtime. Double vomit. Loss. On the road, okay...but to unranked Rutgers. FFS. Not a nice date night. :\ I will say, we didn't screw it up and give it to him so much as they played their asses off and earned the win. They outplayed us and took the win. Good for them. I just hope we learn from this loss and work our way back up the rankings. (SEC shoutout to Vandy over Marquette...big).

Le sigh...

goddammit, Indiana still is good at basketball

first, they took out then-number 1 Kentucky

and now, formerly unstoppable tOSU????

Tom Crean is a good coach so it was just a matter of getting the kids he recruited in there to get it going again.

minnesota lost to iowa, at home

i'm going to buy a new ohio state jacket, maybe a hat, maybe a mug and definitely a club head cover

i can't go on living like this

i think back to the time i was kind of happy

it was 2005 and all my sports teams were competitive

since then they have all been embarrassing

coincidence?

Tennessee looks like they actually have a future, which is more than I thought of them after their coach got fired a while back

Kansas is looking like the team to beat

my Buckeyes look good, just not nearly as invincible as I prematurely thought they were. Sullinger may be the best player in the country, but damn, he has to stay healthy!

i gave up on the gophers after the 0-4 start, but i just checked and they are on a 2 game winning streak including a win @indiana, but than again who isn't beating indy the past two weeks

man that win they HAD in champaign is hurting more than ever

at least carry the team into the glorious NIT and maybe save your job tubby

He's ranked #1, AD is #2. ;)

And AD just set the single season UK shot block record and still has a bunch of games left. You do not drive the lane on the Cats, believe that!

Wow! Hell of a game last night. Mizzou down by 8 with 3:20 to go and the run off 11 straight points to win.
I needed a defibrillator by the end of that game. On the edge of my chair all night.

I am SO HAPPY Ohio State finally beat Wisconsin @ Madison. first time since 2000 makes that feat hard to believe...

this draft is going to be SO LOADED. I'm quite happy that the Cleveland Cavaliers get TWO first round picks in the NBA Draft. imagine how much damage a team could do with two first round drafts with this sort of talent??

Kentucky looks damn good. Kansas fell behind a bit. I'm taking the easy road and calling a Kentucky VS Ohio State March Madness Championship

UK passed their first tough test in the SEC with flying colors tonight. I hope Davis stays on his game now that the hype is beginning for him to possibly win FOY, DPOY and POY.

OSU looked a little flat tonight but Buford got them buckets when they needed them most.

a little flat, yeah, but I will take a win over a good team in this conference where I can get it. Buford has been one of my favorite players to watch

what surprised me most was the score? that tOSU VS Purdue game was as high-scoring as an NBA game, move over scores of 57-51

Damn what a night.... Hoyas/'Cuse go to OT....Kansas' 2nd half vs Baylor.....and Duke (damnit!!!!!) three'd out UNC

Baylor had a chance to make a statement with a win over Kansas @ home... but Baylor failed, and proved they're a team that can't be trusted come March imo

Sorry axl, ol Izzo's boys were playing lights out today.

And #1 UK got a nice test tonight. That Indiana loss paid off in this game.

tough loss, it was hard to watch Sullinger's first truly bad game of the season. what an ugly game. neither team could hit any shots from the field. it sucks to lose at home (39 game win streak gone), but MSU plays basketball for real
