I'm a huge changa fan, I'll extoll its virtues until I die. I've not yet made a blend involving an MAOI so some of you may not consider that true "changa" so to speak, but over at the nexus they use that term to refer to any DMT + herbs blend. I've been using the "Electric Sheep" blend which is 50% DMT, 25% Calea Zacatechichi leaves and 25% Blue lotus petals by weight. Having the DMT infused to herbs is INCREDIBLY useful in a variety of ways. For one its easy to carry, share, trade... and most importantly smoke! Gone are the days of fooling with steel wool, wondering how much was leftover from the last use and never knowing if the current dose was going to be too mild or knock me out cold. Plus no more long speeches about proper smoking technique when we are joined by those uninitiated to the deems. Just a pinch of the DMT infused leaf in a bong and after 1 or 2 quick rips you're in full blown DMT space (although I find it to be a slightly different qualitative experience, even without the MAOI). You can also just put it in a handpipe if you're looking for a slower, more immersive experience. I've also found it to be more potent for some reason (or perhaps i wasn't vaporizing it correctly when we were using just the pure freebase), it only takes 30mg of DMT (this would be measured as 60mg of changa) to get me knocking on the door of a "breakthrough" with this method. It's definitely the only way I'll be flying in the future.
Some observations:
--The smoke is very acrid if you put it in a bong and try to rip it like you would cannabis. Use long slow inhalations and just get it lit enough to stay burning. This makes it less harsh, and the blend burns slower at a lower temperature, wasting less DMT. You can also split the dose among 2 or 3 bowl attachments so you can just clear a hit and reload quickly.
--This does not seem to work very well with 5-MeO-DMT. Made a batch with 20mg of the stuff on green tea leaves and 8mg produced very weak effects. I'd love to know if anybody has a way around this, or succeeded where I failed because I'd love to have 5-MeO leaf.
--Isopropanol is the ideal solvent IMO. Very cheap and easy to get, and evaporates quickly enough.
--Speaking of evaporation, leave yourself a full night and day, maybe more depending on the amount you're using. I've evaporated it quicker using a hot desk lamp but I found that this created an "uneven" laying so to speak, certain doses were very light and some others were much stronger than usual. This could've just been my imagination, but I think its just a good rule of thumb not to try to speed up evaporation using heat. Sometimes you smell it and think the solvent is totally evaporated, but it won't be. I usually transfer the herbs to a pill bottle for storage after drying, and occasionally after a fresh batch I'll open up the bottle and smell isopropanol. If this is the case I just lay it out on wax paper again for a few hours to dry further.
