I find really the key to ensuring I don't wake up feeling like total arse after a big drinking sesh is to make sure I get a good sized bite to eat before bed, as well as drinking some water. I find that it helps to have a bottle of water next to my bed at night so I can drink some during the night if I wake up and so its right there for when I wake up. You don't wanna skoll water too fast though or it can make you feel bloated and if you are feeling nauseas can make you a little more prone to throwing up. Obviously the longer you can afford to stay in bed the better.
A light meal shortly after waking and staying hydrated usually makes the day bearable to me, if it seems like its going to be a struggle a benzodiazepine and/or some cannabis are sure to eliminate whatevers left of my hangover.

totally agree with you D-M on eating some food while or after you drink plus keeping the bottle of water always by the bedside, as just trying to scull litres doesn't rehydrate as well as contant flow.
Also I find not drinking really cheap wine's for me make a huge differennce. At work we have a monthly night were will get pissed on the house from work, but it's always cheap as shit chardonays or sparkling white but as its free I scull the shit down and always have a doubly worse hangover than when I drink a bottle of vodka during the day with food.
I think its got something to do with all the preservatives added as even when I drink cheap aussie wines I start sweating sour acid sweat and a mild reaction to it. Where as at home some standard vodka like absolut or russian standard, doesn't have to be fuckin grey goose or anything gets me nicely pissed with far less hangover the next day.
Or if I'm feeling rich some beautiful scottish single malts....hmmm single malt and a good spliff - can relieve the strain of modern day pressures....

My hangover remedy is to keep drinking and stay drunk that way u will never be hungover haha but naah seriously my remedy is when I get home drunk I rape the fridge, sumfn greasy with a large protein shake with milk and multivitamins. Wait a little bit for it to settle and keep drinking water even if u wake up a few times and also need to pee a few times LOL U wont even have a hangover the next day, works for me heaps well.

That's the reason I try to only buy 6 packs - whatever booze I have around me, I'll drink it. So getting slabs isn't economical for me because I end up drinking far more just because it's there and I have no self control. Same with bottles of spirits. So sixies it is for me! I usually cbf'd going to the bottleo twice in a day so it works out ok.
I get absolute killer hangovers too, and once I've got to that stage there's only so much that water/gatorade does to help. Worst hangover ever was on a flight from Los Angeles to Melbourne after a work trip where I'd taken advantage of all the free mini bar - that was 17 hours of hangover hellllll, fuck it was bad

3 night booze bender, mainly lots of vodka... blah. mild kidney aches again, a groggy dry throat feeling and a liver that probably wants to slap the shit out of me. strangely no bad headache or an actual typical hungover feeling. definitely having a break before i go near booze again

Only 15 per cent of us admit to drinking too much, and beer pips white wine as the favourite Kiwi summer tipple, a poll has found.
The Herald-DigiPoll survey found 29.3 per cent listed beer as their favourite summer tipple, followed by white wine on 27.5 per cent.
A majority of men (50.6 per cent) preferred beer, compared with only 9.3 per cent of women who claimed the brew to be their favourite form of alcohol.
Just under 15 per cent of respondents thought they drank too much; 84.2 per cent said they did not.
Alcohol Healthwatch director Rebecca Williams said that was against all evidence - national alcohol surveys have consistently found about 25 per cent of adults are binge drinkers or are drinking at harmful levels.
"Many Kiwis tend to underestimate their drinking to justify that they're not drinking excessively, and this could be what the poll result reflects," said Ms Williams.
"We know that even small amounts of alcohol regularly can be quite harmful, but many drinkers would like to believe that only binge drinking is harmful.
"I think what we're seeing is that people are freely drinking alcohol because you can buy it in the supermarket, it's cheap and readily available, and it's not seen as being a drug," Ms Williams said.
"But this line of thinking is actually quite concerning, especially if alcohol is seen as just another soft drink or something to quench their thirst."
The poll was taken between December 9 and December 16 with a sample size of 500 respondents.
Other surveys by the Alcohol Advisory Council found 647,200 people drank between three and seven times a week, 1.4 million drank at least once a week and 877,200 drank three times a month or less.
Beer is by far the most popular alcoholic drink in the country, and New Zealand is ranked 19th in the world in beer consumption, at around 75.5 litres a person a year.
A Law Commission paper, Alcohol in Our Lives, found drinking to intoxication and regular binge drinking "are persistent characteristics of New Zealand's drinking culture".

hahah classic ad. Reminds of the kiwi bloke on housos who always has a beer in his hand. That accent is classic bro.
i think that's a brilliant add. it's the complete opposite of "JUST SAY NO". the producers are smart enough to realise you cant talk 18-24yo men out of drinking, but you can influence them to drink in a responsible manner, and look out for each other.

The problem with that add is that the average kiwi drinker could probably drink an Australian alcoholic under the table.

This new years eve was the first I've spent in Oz in 12 years so instead of a night on Wild Turkey and a bit of champers I decided to cut loose on my duty free liquor collection. The mission was to sample 30 odd bottles I've found in my travels, mostly spirits. Missus and mate's missus stuck with champers and occasional tequila shots. We knocked over a doz Redbacks in a lazy preamble then on to sips and shots. Got through Zivanya (Cypress), Glen Elgin single malt, Arak (Lebanon), Slunji (Croatia) and a couple of cleanskins from Morrocco and Zanzibar. All was good, then along came Kubler Absinthe from Switzerland. After a bit of drama caramelizing the sugar and setting fire to my glass 
we got a couple down and that's where the sampling stopped. Only managed (needed?) 1/2 litre between us but it was one of the funniest nights we both can't remember very clearly. The Pictionary sketches told a story next morning. At 53% it has some grunt in alcohol alone but the wormwood and other herbs infused add a whole other slightly trippy dimension to the drinking experience. The few sessions I've previously had on absinthe were marked by loads of laughter and shit-talk and it seems to have the same effect on most people, from what I've seen. It just isn't the kind of liquor I'd be hitting every weekend. Anyone else hang-out with the green fairy these days?

And doctors stress a break of one month does not heal damage already caused.
Trust chief executive Andrew Langford said: 'You're better off making a resolution to take a few days off alcohol a week throughout the entire year.'
Dr Mark Wright, consultant hepatologist at Southampton General Hospital, said: 'Detoxing for just a month is medically futile. It feeds the idea that you can abuse your liver as much as you like and then sort everything out with a quick fix.
'The liver is fantastic at detoxing - that's what it does. But if you think giving it a rest will help, you're wrong.'
