The Alcohol thread...

How old was the wine? I don't think I've ever managed to keep anything for more than 5 years.

^^ good question.. Ive got a couple dozen bottles of good red, aging in a wine rack.. I havent aged anything more than two years lol but most my bottles are atleast 5 years old..

I was a chronic drinker a few years back, thought I'd definitely done some kind of organ damage.

But same thing PP+R, results came back fine...

Makes you wonder if the 'results' are accurate, or aimed at the areas alcohol can damage?

Sometimes I think docs just flog you off when your young, 'he ain't dying, he'll be right'
I have a feeling, they only going to take me seriously when I get old..... Like, real old..... I do live rural, and have been told by a specialist out of town, that the quacks in my town, are basically all training, they ain't going to go out on a limb to help a late 20 year old. Fuck heads..

shit, that has got me thinking... I do get that feeling with alot of worries I have - passing me off because Im only 23.. I will admit Im a hypercontriact, but I have inhaled/ingested some fucked up material/substances over time (not just drug related) with a family history of cancer so it comes at no surprise

I cracked a bottle of red the other night that had turned to vinegar. I couldn't help but think that my MDMA I have stored away for an anniversary in a few years will fair much better

damn, would of been a great bottle to regift.

I probably only drink 1-2 times a week, more in summer.
Strongbow and cheap Moscato are my weapons of choice ;)

I've been sinking a bottle of captain morgan every day or two...like usually ill buy 3-4 bottles during the week..might give away a few drinks but Its mostly to myself. is this a bad amount to be drinking for my liver etc? I'm guessing so but is it like super bad?

There are a lot of factors when it comes to alcohol abuse and livers.. I knew a guy, who died in his 90s and was still a steady drinker right up until the end and never had an issue with his liver, I seen him put away a full 700ml bottle in a night, in his 90s and still be completely coherent. I've known others to drink far less and get serious liver complications very early in life (late 20s, early 30s). Generally with heavy drinking, it takes a real while for it to catch up with you, so you probably think you're getting away with it, it's fairly rare for people in their 20s, even 30s, to get the more serious complications. But - it does happen. But if you keep drinking like that, there's a fair chance you'll have issues in your 40s/50s/60s. Going by your other posts, I'm guessing you're still a teenager and that probably sounds like it's so far away it doesn't matter, but the time will go quick and suddenly you'll be living with the consequences of your actions. You start to realise as you get older, all the reasons people tell you to moderate when you're a kid.

Also, if you have hepatitis, then you absolutely need to back off the drinking, and if you're taking a lot of other substances too, then that can prevent your liver from processing the alcohol properly.

Really - if you want to know about your liver, just go to a doctors and ask for a blood test, they'll test your liver function and they tell you if it's low or not.

hmmm what can I say.

Bottle to bottle and half of scotch every night much more on party nights All other drug use is occasional (party nights) aside from joint or 2 most nights Overweight and regular abdominal (particularly on the liver region) pain Ongoing (daily) for at lest 6 years (pain only recent past year) Vomit blood occasionally.

Still can't seem to stop myself any thoughts advise whatever from other heavy or ex-heavy drinkers

I hate going out to drink because of the outrageous prices in bars these days. I drink almost any time I can get alcohol. My favorite thing to drink are Jim Beam and Steel Reserve. I like them because they taste pretty good, are cheap, and have a decently high alcohol volume. I absoloutley hate wine, and dry champagne. They taste repulsive and I have no idea why people enjoy them. When I do drink (several times a month), usually I go to the point where I feel giddy and numb, but not to the point of blacking out and throwing up because that just defeats the fun in drinking.

How many antacids are you heavy drinkers going through?

At one point I was going through a box of mylanta a week though the doctor put me on Nexium that cleared up heart burn issues and the obvious stomach ulcer for a while though after 3 months with out it the heart burn returned its only been recently that a began to see blood in my vomit again (probably another ulcer) will have to go to the doctor again soon. I almost never vomit while drunk Ive found though that I have a weak stomach in the mornings and coughing can quite often cause my stomach to jump and need to purge.

so my recent liver test was elivated and my blood sugar is higher than it should be.. time to have a break n slow down

not sure if it has to do that I possible drank a litre of wine the night before (I cant remember) but not worth the risk as Im still in my early 20's
