I used to use plastic milk gallon jugs for fermenting back when I was 15-17 yrs. old so I'd have a backup if the clerk wouldn't sell me a 40 or 2, or my friends weren't available.
But it was fucking ghetto rigged. You don't even wanna hear how I made my airlock and shit.
It got me wasted for sure, but contamination/germs? Never saw anything visible, so it was clean/sterile enough for me, and I'm still alive/never got sick off it.
