2013/2014 NCAA College Basketball Thread--The Road to the Dallas Cowboys Stadium.

OREGON going to the final four callin come at me bro quack QUACK QUACK QUACK

lol im such a hypocrite, i could drive to illinois and back before I even saw an oregon license plate

yah bro, I was just getting high earlier today with my homie who went to Oregon. he graduated from that school at like 2008ish, and he always regales me of stories about how he was in student section right there at ground level. apparently, the years he attended UO were the years that the b-ball program really built up, and he had lots of fun

I was chatting with him about the strength of UO's squad this year. I asked him how far he thought they were going to go in March, and he said Sweet Sixteen at least fo sho

yeah I like em

damn how long has aaron craft been in college infeel like hes been playin g forever

Shim have you seen any MU games this season? I've only had the chance to watch 4 and I can't accurately judge their out of conference opposition so far. I respect your judgement on these matters more than anyone else here, I need some help on getting filled in.

I haven't watched any of their games live but just looking at highlights they are a very capable team.

if Johnathan Williams III can give them more on offense they will have a pretty balanced team from the inside out considering both of their best scorers are guards in clarkson and brown, but Im not sure if thats going to happen against stiffer competition. They have a stable of players who are basically just there to dunk the ball and play defense but they wont really be much help in a halfcourt offense.

their next game is against Illinois who are a decent team. they got a nice shot blocker in Nnanna Egwu so there might be some conflict at the rim that game if I had to guess

how the regular season becomes fun

NSFW:

Notre Dame v. (3)Ohio State (diaf axl, buckeyes havent played anyone yet as usual. going out on a limb with this but ND cant be that bad)
(5) Michigan State @ Texas
(6) Louisville @ Florida International
(7)Oklahoma State v. (20) Colorado
Rider @ (8 ) Villanova
Brigham Young at (13) Oregon
Davidson at (14) North Carolina
Southeast Missouri State @ (15) Memphis (more or less to not pick all ranked teams, not really fun like that)
Fresno State at (16) Florida
Georgetown at (18 ) Kansas
Belmont at (19) Kentucky (I think both KUs are victims of extremely tough schedules. They are better than these rankings without a doubt. Kansas very well could lose to Georgetown, but Kentucky should be ashamed of themselves if they lose to Belmont)
(21) Gonzaga vs Kansas State
(22) Massachusetts vs Florida State
Illinois vs (23) Missouri
McNeese State at (24) San Diego State

some relevant others

Stanford vs Michigan
Marquette vs New Mexico (9pm on espnu, should be a good game)

damn did ya'll see Duke dunkin' all over the place against UCLA last night?

tOSU looks solid again, and we have that high #3 ranking to prove it, but honestly this Buckeyes team scares me a lil bit. although we look good, we are tending to play any old random team very, very close. albeit we are still winning, but such does not bode entirely too well for the systematic approach of March Madness, where any team can truly win at any moment's notice

I'll be watching, and yeah, I feel lucky as all shit to have Aaron Craft on my team. although tOSU isn't nearly as bad as as Kentucky, when it comes to players playing for a year and leaving, it is still a high-powered D1 program - so those players that stay for so many years us fans truly cherish just like me and Chilean red wines or Bota boxes ;)

hot damn that ND VS tOSU game was insane. Lenzelle Smith had 0 points all game, and then blew up in the last 30 seconds for 9 points

Aaron Craft is a menace on the court, he is the most frightening b-ball player to go up against when you're team is at 1-and-1 with thirty seconds left in the ball-game

props to Notre Dame for a solid showing. props to Thad Matta for being consistently one of the best coaches in the game, yer in and year out, despite his roster

Notre Dame blew it so bad last night, was all set to come in here gloating but they just couldn't close it out.

out of 20 games I went 14-6 and thats only 70% so im just gonna start narrowing it down to 5-10 games a week and go with ones I really feel strongly about.

wow, just wow

I thought the Buckeyes were going to be a decent team, but just like last year Thad Matta has me exceeding any preliminary expectations I had of this team

how good is this tOSU defense? hot damn, they just limited the opposing team to 31 points

31... points... that is just hard to even fathom

LOL Michigan sucks

UL Monroe is knowm for their basketball program right?

sounds like every other wisconsin score tbh, ask china rider whos been mysteriously absent from this thread as his Gophers actually look pretty good this year and not like dunk contest good but actual team good

Pac 12 conference play is about to start, I get Sec network and Big 10 network but not pac 12, fml

yah Minnesota has had some ballers the last couple of years

I know it's just UL Monroe but still holding a team to 31 points should always be celebrated. like a shutout in CFB really

wowow Champange Baptist lost to Southern 12 - 112 - they were something like 3/34 on the floor

LOL

I wasn't surprised Duke lost that game. Not at all. I think they are even more overrated this year than usual because of Parker. Poor Indiana didnt have a chance either. But im not sure any team will have much of a chance against Michigan State come March.

damn I guess I called the wrong ranked team for ND to upset, I do hate Duke but I'm finding myself with less and less of it anymore since they've had some real good players in the past few years. And not just college good, well you guys know who Kyrie is. Parker is going to be a good pro too, I'd take him over Wiggins 10/10 times and I think the NBA will figure that out by the time the lottery fixes its way into town.

I watched the Kentucky / Louisville game but forgot to comment on it. I like Kentucky on offense, but they have a lot of work to do on defense, Randall especially. He is ready for the NBA on offense right now without a doubt, but he can't even create a presence at the college level defensively. And Im talking like he doesn't even really attempt to contest shots very often. I understand he doesn't want to pick up any more fouls than he has to but at what cost? The other team's knowledge that they can drive right at him without having to adjust their shot much if at all? Because that's how you get beat by inferior teams, when they know you aren't able to play your full game due to one reason or another and therefore gain confidence in their own games even more so. I'm not saying he has to be the main defensive presence, Cauley-Stein is much more suited to that role, but he has to at least make the other team respect him on that end of the floor, or I see them getting upset in the first two rounds. There was one play where Russ Smith drove right down the lane at Randall and just threw it down in his face and you could tell from the second Smith left the floor that Randall wanted no business meeting him halfway. At best, he's Zach Randolph. At worst, he's Glen Davis. Either way, he'll be a productive pro.

Temple is sliding into mediocrity, not gonna lie I've never known the program to not be good. Since I've been watching college hoops they are just always in the tournament and more or less always in the mix to win the Atlantic 10. Now that they're in the American Conference (nice win for Cinci today btw), I don't think they're going to make the tournament at all. Competition is just a little bit steeper and they lost both their top scorers so it was a foreseeable down year. I'm just glad there's like 20 other schools with good college hoop teams around here, Villanova is back in the top 25 so it all evens out really.

speaking of that, Oregon squeaked in at #10 in the nation before the 25th of Dec. They are leading the nation with 89.2 points per game, and their best player is still being worked into the starting lineup. Or at least he was their best player until his replacement became it, good problem to have though. February 6th is looking like a possible top 5 matchup between Arizona and Oregon, I doubt if they'll lose more than 3 games combined until that date.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to put on Fox Sports tomorrow at 5ET to watch the Oregon / Colorado game but I think I'll manage to avoid having my viewing experience ruined by forced one liners for long enough to see how the Ducks show up for the first big conference game of the year after almost dropping one to Utah. I'm feeling a 77-72 Oregon win, but only because I really want to see a 1v2 AZ/Oregon game and I see Colorado beating either one of those teams at least once this year so why not make it Arizona...

i'm just not excited about gophball this year, unless they force me to

i will pound my chest when 'dre hollins turns pro and tweets how tired he is damian lilliard calling him for advice

i'm rooting for colorado to win it all, gophers making it back to dance would be cute though, get dirty baby dick
why CU? because i watched them lose in first round last year and what i saw was some of the most athletic ballers join together for an NCAA event
