Exactly. And not in Jesus' image, a topic that causes believers to divide and fall over that's based on racism. Was he white, black, Canaanite, Egyptian etc? It's all noise that makes no lick of difference. The bottom line is Jesus was a Jew who went to synagogue (it's in the Bible), not a Christ-seeker although he could've been a wanderer

If you asked, are people as dumb as animals? I would say yes. People can become depraved like animals, both in their ideas and attitudes towards authority. Happy Passover

Also the guy you're quoting was a priest, you moron.

He's literally talking about being persecuted AS a priest,
by a non-religious/anti-religious organisation,
and you're using it as an argument against the church?

I shouldn't have to keep saying this... over and over... but personal attacks are unacceptable in this forum. It is entirely possible to engage in civil discourse with others and respect their right to their own opinions, without trying to assert their inferiority to yourself.
 
On a similar note, I get offended when people talk about the God particle, as if that means something. It sounds like agnosticism (not gnosticism). I mean obviously one can't believe in a divine particle while believing in an Abrahamic religious book because you'd be idolatrous. What's the point of saying this is okay when it's basically just a New Age religious idea?

Maybe I'm missing something here :confused:
 
I'm actually building a massive wall mounted ant farm at the moment, but I don't have a queen so I need to dig up a colony and abduct one.

Sorry, it was just an assessment of fact

This persons insults everyone who has a different opinion than he does,
so I thought calling him a moron was a given, because it's rather obvious

I have tried multiple times to make this individual see reason with a friendlier tone,
but I can't watch this person insult everyone else who disagrees with him.
He puts opinions in their mouths and then insults them for having said opinions(which they don't even have!).
Once you say "hey the church does SOME good things too", it's "YOU SUPPORT A GENOCIDAL AND HOMOPHOBIC BLA bla bla bla bla fucking bla"

I'll play nice now, but not with this person.
This is fucking Nazi-Germany style level of discussion, and it's pissing me off that this person can roam around this forum and verbally assault everyone who believes in God/any higher power.
Religious people are not the punching bag of third-rate pseudo-philosophers with an anger problem.

I think what I notice quite a bit is people having this idea that God is this being who controls people as much as possible by being aggressive and dominant. My idea of God is of a being who created mankind and now He's not doing anything, as far as I can tell. I've always had this idea of God (thus) I've never even thought of believing in Him. It's always seemed like bullshit to me. Nobody has ever convinced me that God is some domineering figure who created humans. I mean, let's say God created the world

I can accept that if that's all I have to go on. But it still doesn't mean I have to believe in God because He's not my God. He's the god of the Jews

Live and let live, that's a loaf of bread you should cut a big piece off of, learn to respect other people's views. That's the root of persecution, not some religion, ignorance.
