[VIC] Rainbow Serpent Festival 2010 - Jan 25, 2010 - Beaufort REVIEWS!!!!

Ok sweet thanks.

So this will be my first doof type thing what stuff should you bring?

an esky filled with water.

Feeze bottles of water prior to the doof, it acts as cooling for other things in the esky, keeps your water cool for the length of the doof, without the need for more ice. All you need to do is take it out and leave it defrosting when you want to drink it, they soon defrost in the warm weather.

If you can find some down here (not being a native of Vic, I found it difficult), purchasing a block of dry ice is awesome. I've done that a number of times for doofs and camping in QLD. You can get any size block you like, and using baysieguy's idea of freezing water bottles, the dry ice will keep those frozen too, thus eliminating the need to buy ice to keep your food cold. You may want some ice for drinks, etc, but if you don't then you'll be fine with just the dry ice and frozen water bottles.

FYI - I edited RainbowSF post to take out all the enormous text tags, as per our guidelines.

Ok sweet

They should allow a tent and esky plus a bag of shit on the bus shouldnt they?

as far as i know yes .... they cant expect you to not take anything up there :)

im pretty sure if you can lug it around, they'll carry it!!

its a normal couch service .. so there is usually the whole bus underneath where you can put stuff .. and you can double stack items underneath too .. so should be heaps of room!

----------------------

so Rainbows moved to a new site .. this should prove very interesting.. i'm going to miss the old site, but as its still nearby to Beaufort im happy

Boooyakushah! Full power no shower, dust tanning and rainbow-booger mining awaits.

Meet-up?

I'm with you man

Hopefully there isn't as much dust at this new site as in previous years

I was coughing up clay by Saturday arvo last year :\

I recommend a respirator to any serious stompers, you wont regret it!

Bring all the usual camping goodies, plenty of water and a stupid costume of some sort ;)

NYE has nothing on rainbow! I can't wait!

RAINBOW SUCKS!

Wow, that new site looks so lush and beautiful! I can't wait to see photos once it's all happened - I'm thinking it might look a wee bit different mid-Summer?

Even so, if it's less dusty than previous sites I may try to come along in 2011. :D

That photo is definately taken in the wet season...

All that lush green grass will be dead and super dry by late January.

There might be some green grass in the forest next to the festival but open inland S.W Vic is dry as a bone during summer

Be very careful with ciggy/scoob butts

I hope they have plenty of supervised fire twirling time as i can't wait to bust out the staff with a large audience :)

^ I hope that people are more respectful of the site next year - one of the only negative things from this year's rainbow was the rubbish that people just discarded around the place - lots of empty beer/spirit bottles. :( I noticed a lot more than in 2008 (my first rainbow).

Sure is, they have a 'no glass' policy which is never enforced.

The promototers are going to be VERY strict on the no glass policy this year!

After seeing the impact of the past few years on the old site, they are having to clamp down to protect this new site.

Don't bring glass people, there are plenty of options rather than glass.

PLUR

^ Hear hear, baysieguy. Glass is not needed at these events. It's a bit of a hassle if you want to bring things for cocktails, etc, but you can just pour gin & voddy, etc into plastic bottles and transport it.

Oh to be in Russia where you can buy 2L of beer in a plastic bottle ;)

I'm starting to get very excited after catching up with some of my crew over christmas and gathering more camp supplies.

There is no way I am going to Rainbow without a slab of Coopers. I'll take the empties home with me happily.

C'mon psyco, am sure you can decant those Coopers in to plastic (LMAO) including the mud!!!!

But on a serious note, a word of caution, I was talking to Tim about the glass situation and they reckon they will be doing esky checks etc . . . . .

Hahahah Coopers in plastic, yecch no thanks.

May have to start investigating decent beers that come in cans. Asahi perhaps. Mmmm Asahi.

Seriously though, there is no way they can stop people bringing glass, esky checks for EVERY carload is out of the question. I'm still going to try and bring me coopers, will see how lucky I am :D
