New Act Announcements!
Neil Joseph Stephen Fraser is a dub music producer and engineer known for his original productions and remix work. He is considered one of the leading producers of dub music’s second generation and was instrumental in transitioning dub into the digital age. He is a prolific producer, contributing to or producing nearly 200 albums. He has collaborated with reggae artists such as Lee "Scratch" Perry, Sly and Robbie, Pato Banton, Jah Shaka and Horace Andy, as well as artists outside the realm of traditional reggae and dub, such as Sade, Massive Attack, The Orb, and Brazilian DJ Marcelinho da lua. We warmly welcome him as a massive addition to the Rainbow 2010 line up.
Gabriel Ananda is from Cologne, Germany. He is known for his diversity of sound in which he melds a mixture of techno, house, electro, and Dub music into his DJ sets and musical productions. Refreshingly different from the common Techno mainstream Gabriel Ananda breaks hearing-habbits using well dosed deep structured sounds. Connoisseurs of the uncommon enjoy his straight and fiddly cool beats.
In 2006 he released the massively successfully EP "Miracel Whop" on Platzhirsch Schallplatten. This will be his first time at Rainbow Serpent and his playful psychedelic style will no doubt be a great contribution to the festival.
There are few more inspired artists working in electronic music today than Charlie May. As the architect behind many of the stylistic blueprint shifts in dance since the early heady days of acid house and as one half of revered progressive house pioneers Spooky; the engineer and producer of many of Sasha’s biggest singles and albums, May knows a thing or two about what makes a dancefloor tick.
This producer and DJ has consistently blazed a trail of innovation which has underpinned many of the most important developments in electronic music! In 2009 he has released a new double mixed cd under “spooky” on platypus records, and look out for a new solo album showcasing his sounds!s
Boris Brejcha began producing and dj-ing in November 2006 and with his first online MP3 debut Monster EP and the following EP named Yellow Kitchen, he reached number one on many download platforms, and became the new techno shooting star playing gigs not only in his home country Germany but abroad. Boris joined Harthouse Mannheim at the beginning of 2007 with the digital releases Outer Space, White Snake and others.
Boris is constantly searching for fresh & unknown elements in his sound. Now he is looking forward for his third album which will come in the beginning of 2010! We have been receiving request for a number of years to bring Boris over for Rainbow, in 2010 we are more than pleased to oblige!
Magnus Birgersson, a Swedish based electronic music composer has been involved in many projects since a teenager, playing drums, percussions, piano and keyboards for various bands before launching his own project Solar Fields in 2001 with the album Reflective Frequencies. Magnus has always built a unique sound universe, poles apart from current trends in the genre, he explores the wide possibilities of ambient, atmospheric, deep, ecstatic, industrial yet organic, cultivating contrasts and subtlety with brio.
In November 2005 he released his third and fourth album “Leaving Home” and “Extended”, both albums received critical acclaim opening new horizons for Magnus Birgersson and his true visionary work.

Okay.... little earlier than expected... but the cat escaped from the bag, so let's make it official!
WE HAVE A NEW SITE!!!!!
New Site Conditions
After several years of preparation, planning and negotiation we are happy to announce we have secured a new site to hold the festival.
Still close to our beloved Beaufort, the site is blessed with undulating hills and picturesque views, is bordered by a forest and one side and a granite hill on the other and we believe our new home will provide a great setting for years to come. As part of the arrangements to allow us to the use the site, there are some new conditions which we need you to be aware of and we hope you will respect these to ensure we keep the owners and authorities happy.
Fire Warning
Conditions in the Australian bush this summer are forecast to again pose severe fire danger. With the new site bordering a state forest, it is critical that everyone is aware of these risks and follow all fire safety conditions carefully and responsibly. ABSOLUTELY No candles, BBQs, gas stoves or fires permitted at the event. Only gas cookers, which have been professionally installed inside vans or campers are permitted to be used.
Check with Fire Safety officers on site if unsure about any other equipment. BE VERY CAREFULL with your cigarette butts and make sure you dispose of them properly – canisters are available from the Info Tent free of charge.
If conditions are safe a supervised area for fire-twirling will be made available at specified times, check with info tent or fire safety staff for details. Check for more detailed fire safety information on the website and in the event handbook provided on arrival.
Catastrophic Fire Risk Warning
Following from the tragedy of last year’s fires, a new warning system to help protect people in high risk areas has been introduced by the CFA. If there is a Catastrophic (Code Red) forecast leading up to or during the event, patrons may be advised to seek a safer place to be rather than onsite. In this rare scenario, event days may be cancelled or postponed. You should watch news and weather forecasts leading up to the event and watch the website for up to date information should this situation become likely.
Forest Access
We have made special arrangements to allow patrons access to the forest bordering the event site, however strict conditions apply.
* Access to the forest is prohibited on days of Total Fire Ban.
* Only enter the forest through the identified gateway entrances.
* Absolutely no smoking or naked flames at any time inside the forest.
* Please respect the natural environment, no littering and tread lightly.
* Walking access only, absolutely no camping.
* Do not wander beyond sight of the festival grounds
Hill Access
The granite hill provides a great view of the festival site, however we advise that climbing this peak has been identified as risky. There are loose rocks and it is home to many snakes. If you do want to venture up there, we suggest several things.
* Do not go up the hill alone.
* The area is not suitable for young children.
* Wear boots and clothing that covers your legs.
* Stick to the marked path and follow signage.
Camping & Parking
This is a camping event. Bring all the items that will help make your camp comfortable. We recommend that you bring poles, tarps and other infrastructure to create a shaded campsite. There are fewer trees in the camping area than the previous site, so creating your own shade is an important consideration.
When arriving follow the parking attendants instructions, and camp only in permitted areas within the festival grounds – not on walkways, paths or roadsides. Cars blocking the internal tracks (6m clearance is required at all times) will be towed.
There are 2 distinct camping areas – North and South (see site map),and a General Parking area. Try to keep space between camp sites (2m is recommended). Cars may not be driven around the campground during the event and access gates to an area may be closed once the area is full. If you drive away from your campsite during the event, do not expect to be able to drive back to your campground area.
The General Parking area will be open to all vehicles for the duration of the event. Do not camp under overhanging branches as they are known to drop without warning. Pay attention to signs & designated “No Camping” areas. Free water, serviced toilets and showers are provided on site.
One more pic for you... from the small granite mountain overlooking the site!
Re-vegetation work will commence next autumn and we hope to make this our new long term home.
The site is beautiful.... slight natural amphitheater for Main Stage, and a lot more protected from the dust and wind.
Should mention it won't be green like this in summer (obviously) and there are less trees in the camping areas so poles and tarps will be essential.... at least until the revegetation works takes hold and we grow our own shade. We all look forward to helping replant the land we are celebrating on and in the process making it more enjoyable for ourselves.
