the official NCAA football thread

I would like to see Ohio State play in the SEC then I would be impressed. But for real I hope Ohio State plays south florida for the title get rid of this BCS bullshit forever.

washington is 2 and 4
Minnesota is 1 and 6 and just got beaten by Northwestern
Purdue has a winning record because its living on a steady diet of creampuffs and cupcakes. The only two meaningful games they have played, they've lost.

no, that isnt good enough, and im pretty shocked you think it is. 8)

werd.

Also if for some miraculous reason OSU goes to the BCS championship game again this year... they will be embarrassed just like last year.

shouldn't be shocked, considering the source ;)

And if OSU does get to the BCS, it *will* get waxed. I can think of 4-5 teams, any one of which will easily be in that other spot, and they are all more than capable of embarrassing OSU again. It's not that hard.

Part of me really hopes USF makes it there, somewhat to see the little guy win but mostly to blow up the BCS system.

LOL....yea.....Good call there....

UK is def the real deal.....Although LSU's WR's couldnt catch a cold and we had many chances to put the game away in the 3rd....UK was just flat out more physical....and wanted it more....

Awesome game and great win for you guys.....Woodson is the man

Now we just have to win out.....

^^ it had me on the edge of my seat....for the shit i was gonna give everyone else. :)

IT makes me laugh to see ao many OSU bashers. We are #1, again. The only reason LSU, UF, OU, etc are not #1 is because they lost, simple as that. OSU has not lost. Every team plays cupcake teams, this year is no different. And I am also tired of hearing everyone say OSU will get killed in the national title game. One loss last yr to Florida doesn't mean anything this year.

The D is better than last years, the offense is looking nice.

Did they vote themselves into being #1? No. The teams ranked ahead of them LOST, so they moved up. Quit ur bitching, the SEC is it's own demon. Buckeyes have no control over UF losing TWICE, OU losing to Colorado (lol), LSU getting defeated by UK (both good teams, but still lost), or USC getting spanked by Stanford (funniest one of them all).

So yes OSU or SFU deserve to be #1.
edit - axl
OSU hasn't lost to anybody they are not supposed to lose to, your team(s) have.
O-H-I-O!!!!

That's just how it is.SEC folks never change...You lost in the civil war over 200 years ago but you continue to drive your 'pick em up' truck with that really cool confederate flag on it; your teams lose games that they are supposed to win but you still can't stop bitching about why your team should be #1. OSU hasn't lost to anybody they are not supposed to lose to, your team(s) have.

The South Will Rise Again

Go eat your industrialization you yankee scum

Catching up on my UF sports sites, found these to share

CBS' coverage of Kentucky's upset of LSU was the highest-rated college football game Saturday. .... Kentucky is selling T-shirts on their official Website commemorating last week's upset of the Tigers. The shirt reads, "We put the 'L' in LSU."

You want to really insult Kentucky fans?

Call UK a football school.

"Now hold on heah, suh, I said, I said, we are very proud of our nice little football team but Kentucky always has been and will be a basketball school. Especially now that Tubby is gone."

Or tell 'em this one - Who are the two coaches who turned Kentucky into a football school?

Rich Brooks and Billy Donovan.

I'm not too sure we'll beat them this weekend, nor am I so sure about playing South Carolina :\ I *am* fairly confident we're not making the SEC championship, just too many factors need to fall into place for that kind of luck. And that's what it would be - luck.

Part of me came into this wanting to kick OSU one more time, just because, but I took a look at their schedule - road games at Penn State and then at Michigan. Home wins waiting against WIS and ILL. They *may* have a little trouble at PSU, but quite honestly, I fully expect them to win the rest of their games :\ And simply based on experience (especially how last year's BCS game sits in their memory), I think they'll be better prepared than whomever they face (BC, USF....). Saddens me to think this, but it's making sense at this point. I can say I'll be a Penn State fan this weekend, and a Zook fan for a day, but that may not help since I seem to be rooting for losers lately :|

to all Buckeye haters:

we can't help it that we are number one in the nation... AGAIN. we can't help it that this year was supposed to be a rebuilding year and we are once again the talent that judges talent on top of the BCS. sure, the system is a flawed system. but what else can you do but keep on winning? I guess there is one more aspect you can accomplish - win the games you are supposed to win by a lot of points. we have done that. we will dominate our schedule for the rest of the year just like we have. and about schedule - what can we do about that? so we stopped playing our annual Texas game the second game of the year (which was by far some of the greatest college football games in the mid-2000s, it judged who was going to win the National Championship two years in a row). this year nobody is playing us, because we are a powerhouse, and chances are you will lose to us. at least you Buckeye haters can stop this claim when starting next year we will be playing USC for a couple years straight.

we can't help it that the Ohio State University is the program of all programs in the NCAA - for all sports. we can't help it that we are always this good. we can't help the fact that we will go undefeated this year and go into the National Championship game, where if we play Boston College or South Florida we will dominate; and likewise if we play a team like Oklahoma or LSU we will get destroyed.

we can't help being number one in the nation.

as a Buckeye it simply comes natural to us.

signed with respect,

Buckeye Nation

While I wholeheartedly agree with keeping things clean - forum guidelines are more of a law than a suggestion, I will have to take exception to a few mis-truths you seem to be spreading.

All the crap about being in some of the premier games of recent years...okay, can't argue.

"Dont hate us because of who we play"? Puhlease - everybody spins that left or right - either we can't make an undefeated season because our conference is toooo haaaarrrrrddd (ala SEC, Big10+1, and ... well, I think those are the only two that spin it that way) or we shouldn't get knocked because our conference is weak or having a down year (ala everybody BUT the SEC...*including* the Big10+1 who think they can play both sides of that discussion and not sound hypocritical).

But all that aside, where I really take issue is the complete mistake of thinking you have the (or one of the) top athletic schools in the nation. Have you heard of the "Directors Cup"? Take note - it goes to the universities who are tops in ALL SPORTS. And I will have to caveat the leader every year - Stanford - because they compete in *every* sport from water polo to basket weaving, and by participating in more sports than other schools they are in the running for more finishes than other schools. That being what it is, look at who else has consistently been in the top 5 - UCLA, Texas, and ... Florida ;) Hell, even Michigan has been there more than you guys.

If you want to redefine that back to just the 'major' sports, how big is that list of sports? Basketball (men only?), football, baseball?, hell I'll even let you throw hockey in there knowing half the country doesn't play it. Even if...even if, you want to pull it down to just football and men's basketball - the two you probably feel you've got the biggest presence in - you won't find yourself at the top. You can play games with how many years you wish to include in comparing schools, but you're probably on par with Nebraska and Miami from the 80's...oh, wait, no you aren't even close to that. But the idea remains - thinking you are the 'dynasty' or 'current powerhouse' when in fact you've got a few good years lucked into a bit by scheduling (then again, nearly every football champ has that, UF is no exception) but the only reason you'll continue to be talked about is because of hype. The big boy of a big conference 8) Um, sorry, Big10+1 aint that big conference :\ not anymore...don't know when or if it will be again.

When I hear Big10+1 football and all it's mythical history...I think of how Miami, FSU, and Nebraska still get love despite having past their usefulness. When I hear of OSU thinking they are all that....I'm wondering when that shroud of nostalgia will fall by the wayside and matchups with ND (the current ND) will be even again.

Basketball? Hah. Again, a few good years, but OSU is no Duke or UNC or UCLA or... (notice I'm not putting UF in that one either). Point is, a few good years - enjoy them, but don't spend too much time looking back because the future is here, and you aren't on top. Won't be, most certainly as a 'powerhouse'.
