☛ Official ☚ The Big & Dandy Storage Thread

that said, I think the best bet is to just extract a gram or so at a time so you never have a bunch extra laying around (its probably more stable stored in the bark, in an airtight container in the freezer)

That is true, but in the winter extracting becomes more difficult because its too cold to keep windows open, and i dont like breathing in those fumes. So a few grams is required to get through thos cold months.

Oh man, cant wait to do another extraction. I like doing the pulls as much as i like smoking it.

I can't remember looking forward to spring this much before.

i'm just curious, how long do those little powdered packets that absorb moisture last themselves? will they work permanently?

No, they do not work permanently. They are all substances that form hydrated salts - compounds that incorporate water molecules into their crystal structure. So they will "suck" it out of the air until they become saturated. As moisture in the air goes down, more will be released from the mushrooms (or whatever) that contain it. This continues until the desiccant is saturated, or the compound is dried.

Some can be "recharged" by baking the water out of them. I recommend Drierite if you are going to buy some, you can get a variety that will change colors (blue/pink) so you know when it needs to have the water baked out.

If you are in a pinch, you can always buy epsom salts (hydrated magnesium sulfate), spread it out on a piece of foil or a baking sheet or whatever, and toast it in the oven at 400F or so for about an hour. Tie it up in a paper towel or something with a rubber band (it will form a light dusty white powder that will get everywhere), then voila, you have cheap ass very effective dessicant packets.

Nah, not with the disposable packets. Its its been out of its original container for long I would not depend on it for anything serious.

Kind of an overlap between this thread and the B&D Shroom thread, but my question is probably most relevant here.

What is the shelf life of a spore syringe containing solution? Will the spores be negatively impacted by storage in solution (which I'm guessing is just water?)? What about spore prints? How long do they remain viable in storage? I'm assuming the answer is "longer than spore syringes" but I'm obviously looking for a number. What is the best storage environment for a spore print? Dry, dark, low humidity desk drawer?

I'm interested in info on both, not just a couple of posts saying "The spore print would be better." I'm sure of that without asking, but curious about both.

Thanks, BL.

Liquid LSD

i have the chance to buy some liquid pretty soon, and i want to keep it long term. i person that i am getting it from is giving me the option of what i want it dropped on.

for the sake of long term storage, what is the best thing that liquid can be stored on to reduce loss of potency?

i will be keeping it in a dark, air tight container. can i also put silica gel into the container to reduce moisture? how long can i expect to keep the hits without loss of potency?

Stored like you said, it should keep for years and years without losing potency. If at all possible, just get it in liquid form.

Ideally, you want a container that is air- and watertight to put in a dark freezer (make the container opaque, e.g. by lining it with paper, if your freezer has a light). Stored in this way, the LSD should last years without degrading significantly.

Keeping it in liquid form is also ideal, but often not practical unless you're getting a lot. Anything that won't degrade on its own should be fine. Sugar cubes are popular, and AFAIK they should do fine in a cold, dark place for extended periods.

Amber bottles stored in a dark, room tempature enviroment, it should last for >9000 years.
lol I don't know about that. LSD is not that stable of a molecule...but its generally more stable than people make it out to be.
