The Big & Dandy Flashback Thread

morninggloryseed.. I wish I was you! then I can smoke some pot and go on some more acid trips with the boys without having to worry about losing it... i'm burnt out already and im only 20 :(

Why would anyone want to be a fictional character created for the sole purpose of amusing that guy who types in his spare time?

The only drugs to give me "flashbacks" are salvia and speed- salvia remembering often hits me in uncertain situations, anything anxiety inducing. I can often achieve 'total recall' of my salvia trips when shocked suddenly. Amphetamines have haunted me through periods of stress and anxiety- those feeling are so closely related to the amphetamine high that its not surprising.

As people have said, its an anxiety/panic thing. Anyone that has experienced a sober panic attack will know how altered you feel, visually, mentally etc. After you've taken psychedelics perhaps your more inclined to notice these things and attibute them to the drug?

Basically i can have 'flashbacks' about any experience, good or bad, sober or tripping....its called memory. This myth seems to be centerterd around the misinformed notion that acid is stored in your spine, possibly leaking out and causing a short, spontaneous trip. As long as people are aware that the flashback experience has nothing to do with active chemical being re-released, thats fine.

I've never had a flashback nor do I know anyone who has and I talk to a lot of drug users.I do know a few people with PTSD related to drug use.

MGS is bringing SWIM back;)

You said you wished you want to be MGS.

MGS is not a real person, it is an internet persona created by a real person of whom we know very little.

The same applies to jamshyd, trip.more, and capEr for that matter.

It is like World of Warcraft but all you see is text and our weapons are drugs ;)

Dont kill people, we might start having bad flashbacks!

Seriously I think that some very bad trips do cause PTSD which is associated with the idea of a flashback. As I understand it sufferers of PTSD in most cases have other issues because of the PTSD such as sober anxiety all the time, depression, etc... We dont really observe that in most people who have drug induced flashbacks. Also many users report flashbacks and persisting phenomenon from enjoyable and good trips as well as trumatic bad trips. Its these reasons that lead me to believe that flashbacks are a different phenomenon that PTSD.

Well I got HPPD so life is like one long bad acid trip at the moment :|

The best info you're ever going to receive from me is if you notice yourself changing it's time to stop, don't take it too far because there's no going back. It's been over a year for me and I'm starting to see some improvements now - like not feeling as if I'm stuck in a dream so much (dp/dr) and a tad better at memory and word recall.

After reading many forums and texts it's become very clear that some people are very suseptable to this condition (small percentage) and it may take one or 2 trips for some or 100+ for others. Just be aware that when you start seeing trails sober it is not a good idea to keep tripping. As I have said once before most people on this forum turn a very big blind eye to this and even deny that HPPD exists dispite it being a legal condition (I can't really blame you but I can still hate you) though you don't have to look far to stumble accross forums dedicated to sufferers. Any questions feel free to ask.

Of course having strong psychedelic experiences on a regular basis is going to change the way you look at life/yourself, that's just common sense. For most the psychedelic users I talk to that is the point of taking these drugs in the first place. If you wanna get high smoke a bowl, If you want to take 5 min/48 hours to reevaluate yourself and your surroundings in a new/different perspective take a psychedelic. It's childish to think these compounds aren't going to effect your perspective in the long run.

I don't know if that comment was for me but if it was I think you misunderstood me. The deep insights and perspectives psychedelics offer are indeed very valueable and of course that is what I was interested in. What I'm talking about when I say 'changes' are more physical, as in visual perception and tinitus. CEV's and OEV's are now constantly in my vision much like an acid trip especially when I look at the sky it looks like it is crawling with bugs.

So what I'm getting at is that psychedelics seem to have changed the chemistry of my brain and most of what I feel is physical rather than mental (in saying that it does get quite mental in the form of anxiety, fear and depression)

LoL sure bro, purple, green, blue and multicoloured psychedelic protein strings firing across my vision like lightning. God I'm sick of being treated like a moron. You think after a year of suffering I haven't done a bit of research on floaters and protein strings? FUCK!

I'm going to leave this thread and others like it alone now until people start acting a bit more progressively.

Yeah really, HPPD is a real and serious disorder. Although flashbacks are not persisting and therefor do not qualify as HPPD these phenomenon seem to go hand in hand for many. Deadwing is just giving some honest advice, if you are seeing tracers while sober there is definitely some very wrong and you need to stop tripping for a while. Hint: The tracers are not karmic auras sending you "the message', they are signs of inefficency in the visual processing system of your brain. In essence you are frying your brains, not in a physical sense from heat but rather frying yourself through neuroplastic change that doesnt fare well in sober reality.
