The Big & Dandy Basic Mescaline/Cactus Questions Thread - Round Two!

my brother and i finally finished drying and powdering our san pedro cactus. we ended up with about 200 grams of the dried cactus. what do you think would be the most ideal thing to do with this? i heard people putting the powder into capsules, but i was also thinking about doing an alkaloid extraction. would it be worth it to do the extraction, or would i need more cactus?

I really enjoy mescaline. Its the next best medicine to LSD. The duration stresses the mind a bit, but its worth it. <3

However, last night, I dosed while withdrawing from morphine, and I was in immense pain, and it really screwed with my trip.

... I've never heard of someone being in so much pain and keeping a smile the whole time.

the dmt nexus has alot of info about extracting cacti

i couldn't find anything about the extractions on the dmt nexus, but i was considering more and more about making a syrup out it. does anyone know any good recipes for making a syrup?

^ the syrup or "tea" as some call it is both slimy and gross. I've done it myself, and its pretty hard to get down in a reasonable amount of time, though cranberry juice can cut the taste quite well. I'd recommend a different extraction method

I was just thinking...

Do you suppose it would work correctly if one was to chop up a cactus and run it through a fruit juice processer?

i'd use a blender or food processor. and i'd remove the woody core from the cactus to avoid damage to your kitchen appliance.

as for a fruit juicer, i've never really used one, so i don't know.

Also, do any of you guys know any of the other alkaloids present in trichocereus cacti?

dried san pedro dose?

hey, i wanted to try san pedro for the second time. my first time, which took place two days ago, i took 50 grams of the dried cactus. i felt very relaxed and had some very mild hallucinations, but not what i wanted. i was planning on taking some today, but have no idea how much to take. i was thinking anywhere from 75 to 100 grams. i know this stuff is probably only like .3% but i am still not sure of how much to take because of my tolerance.

Definitely not peyote seeds...

I know of one which sells peruvian torch seeds.

Also, sourcing is forbidden here, unfortunately.

im not sure if this is where i should ask this, but i recently bought three rooted san pedro cacti, all in one pot, and it seems like the people i bought them from really over watered them. these are my first san pedros and do not know much about them. the cacti are brown up to an inch above the dirt line, but look alright above that. but below the line, it looks like they are rotting or something:(. what should i do? will they be able to keep living if i just leave them, or should i cut and replant them? please help me. i love these cacti and would be extremely sad to see them die. here are a few pics. you can see in the one how they are brown at the bases. any advice would be truly appreciated as i have no idea of who else to ask.

Certain species of San Pedro grow naturally in the high desert and some are natural in the more mountainous regions where it's wetter. I've found that the high desert ones don't do as well with more water, they can actually get moldy. Keep those guys fairly dry and they'll do better, water them once or twice a month and no more..

The mountain region (forgot the subspecies name) San Pedro cactus does really well with a higher water content, it actually converts it into growth very efficiently. It also has a slightly higher mescaline content (+30%). You can tell the difference in physical features by noticing the size and coloring. It averages about 3" in diameter and it's a brighter shade of green.

I leave the skin/membrane on when I harvest it, just de-spine it and cut out the core then cut the rest into smaller pieces and puree it in a blender with the juice of a lemon. Freeze it overnight (or longer) and drink it (more like chug) as fast as you can, have a spoonful of honey handy in case you start to gag because san pedro is super bitter as I'm sure you already know ;)

how come more people don't just use the skin and the green flesh under the skin utilize that? from what i understand cacti produce certain alkaloids for it's extreme bitterness to repell pests, so most of it would be in that area.
I'm not 100% sure whether this is allowed.

Is it easy to get San Pedro or Peyote seeds in a nursery/gardening store?
Go out and look. Research pictures of it, read up on it a bit. It doesn't hurt ot be able to identify the various Trich. species. There are lots.
A lot of retailers simply don't know the exact source or name of their cacti, and the labelling is often confusing.

ALSO, Can anybody tell me anything about the 'Backberg' clone?

Just 3 days ago I made mescaline tea for the first time. I'll detail my method here for other newbies (including cookie monster):

materials needed: large pot, blender or food processor, knife, water, large spoon for stirring.

I cut up the entire cactus (two 6 inch pieces) into small pieces and blended in food processor with a small amount of water. Leave the core and spines and skin on the cactus. Didn't completely liquefy the cactus. Blended the entire cactus into liquid/small chunks and placed into large pot. Applied medium high heat with a cover and cooked 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, snot texture was achieved. Added a large splash of 100% organic lemon juice and stirred. Allowed to cook 30 minutes on medium high heat with cover. Stirred only once or twice. Removed cactus material and placed in a pair of clean underwear. Allow to drain the snotty liquid into bowl while the cactus material cools. When cooled, squeeze cactus material through underwear (or t-shirt, or whatever you have lying around) until dry. Discard of cactus material. Your product should be in a liquid state now- most snotty texture should be gone. Cook for another 30 minutes stirring frequently. Once cooked down to desired amount of liquid, I allowed to cool then stored in a tupperware container and froze overnight. (I'd suggest against this. If you can, make your tea when you plan on drinking it. Thawing the mescaline ice before drinking it is a major hassle- but CAN be done).

Overall, process took a little more than an hour. I cooked this tea in my parent's kitchen, with their pots, and raised no suspicion when they returned home.

From this method, I only drank 1/2 of the juice (I ended up with way too much juice... Probably 2+ cups) and I tripped hard. Nausea was minimal after ingesting juice over an hour period + chewing on raw ginger and drinking ginger tea.

Only thing I'd do different next time is cook the final material longer to make less liquid. If oyu can cook it down to 1 cup or even 1 shot glass, you'd be absolutely set.

what about cooking it down to no shot glass (powder, goo, whatever it comes out as) and mixing it in a smoothie?

How could you compare messcaline to lsd or mushrooms? Not in detail comparison of course but attributes, that is my main question.

Also, what does extracted mescaline look like and how do people take it?? I've heard of brown powder that is probably caffeine was LSD in it being sold as mescaline, and is it safer to just get the cactus from somewhere?

I tripped twice this week, and fuck, mescaline has some legs. The first time I dosed really hard, and I was awake all night, all the next day, and did not come down and be able to sleep until 4pm.

The duration is twice as long as LSD or psilocybin. Also, its a comfortble trip, though still heavy on the mind. Not altogether colorful like acid or deeply introspective like psilocybin. I'd say its closer in effects to oral DMT. It makes the casing on my laptop bend and words on the screen sway up and down. I keep talking to myself. Good medicine.

Mescaline is much gentler than acid or mushrooms. It's a calm, peaceful sort of trip, introspective and playful. Wise and ancient. Friendly, but powerful. Loving. I love it. :) I wish it was easier to procure. I've started growing some cacti but it will be years before I can harvest anything from them, and I'll feel bad when and if I do.
