The Big & Dandy Basic Mescaline/Cactus Questions Thread - Round Two!

There isn't much you can do with it that you haven't done already. You can try heating gently for a while to evaporate more (watch out for burning) but aside from acid/base extraction, you're stuck with cactus snot. Have you tried flavoring it with lemon juice, honey, or your favorite tea?

You can reduce it to a resin and eat the resin.

This is known as cactus resin, see the DMT-Nexus for more info.

You can plug it, aka, put it in your anus and absorb the chemicals that way. No taste and no stomach pains/vommiting etc.

Not putting it up my arse, thanks :D I'd feel weird enough about that as is, can't imagine starting a trip with it 8o

Yeah I figured there weren't too many options... I planned on boiling it down to reduce the unpleasantness of ingestion, but it didn't really occur to me that less liquid equals greater bitterness. I'll try putting some lemon juice in it, the sourness is meant to somewhat neutralise the bitterness isn't it?

well that is a pretty damn cold place to grow cactus, but it's certainly possible.

if you really wanna know start another thread but ill give you a quick overview

in such a cold area its gonna help if you get some strong lights...

you can put the cacti outside during the summer and really get them growing, put them under lights when its too cold outside for them, except for the very coldest part of winter, which the should go into dormancy.

start a thread if you want more info, i dont wanna derail

hell B9 ill even send you a cactus if you promise to grow and propagate it and not eat it right away

The above cacti were grown in canada, very very far north! don't they look great?!

honestly B9, it really doesn't matter

if it hurt my feelings I'd stop posting on forums

But from henceforth I shall refer to you as the handsome and dapper B9! ;)

LOL... those cacti are BLUE brother! That is how they grow! They look like that even if it's 90F outside! BTW those cacti are inside a house! LOL somebody has never grown real san pedro...

See how blue it is? That is a true T. peruvianus!

Shouldn't we start our own thread?

I'm not sure if you mean cacti from a high elevation or just the rare Trichocereus from the Andes... but if your in a cold climate getting seeds/cuttings from the highest elevation and coldest area possible would be best.

You could even make your own strain of Trichocereus by growing 100s from seed and letting the ones die that can't handle your enviroment!

It could be "B9's Arctic Trichocereus" :)

i've wanted to grow cactus for a while, but I move so often that it hasn't really been feasible. I may be moving to the west coast sometime in the forseeable future, and if so i'd definitely give it a shot out there. Are any of the trich sp. cacti easier or more difficult to cultivate? I'd probably go with a few different ones, most likely bridgesii, peruvianus, panchonoi, and possibly terscheckii.

Additionally, what was the speculated activity of the cactus you posted in the other thread Teo?

So, i have been had a few Sandy P's growing for awhile. Last summer/fall the 2 'mother' cacti i have sprouted arms.

i am going to cut the arms n replant n root them, n prob give em away to a couple friends.

now from what i have read and have been told im under the impression i was to wait until it got warmer before i did a cutting. So i have been waiting since late fall.

Well its getting warmer n im getting anxious, it hasnt froze at night in awhile. but it has still been gettin like high 30s low 40s at night. (sometimes on the high 30s mostly 40s)

So my question is, is it warm enough to do some cloning now or should i be more patient? I've been getting anxious

...I live in N.Texas if that is relevent

If you want to grow Trichocereus get a REAL pachanoi or a true blue peruvianus

not a predominant cultivar pachanoi or a cuzcoensis

bridgesii is good too

sacred succulents has good cacti

dont waste your time on weak strains, they suck!

Trichocereus is super, super easy to grow for anybody.

So my question is, is it warm enough to do some cloning now or should i be more patient? I've been getting anxious

I clone in the winter when the cacti are dormant.

Put the cactus in soil after the cut heals and it will root by the time spring rolls around.

^^ ok well i admit that i am a noob in regards to growing cacti and will be doing this for the first time

but from multiple sources i have read that one should only clone when the weather is warm. (pretty sure the reasoning given for that is that the newly cloned arm will begin to root quicker if it isnt dormant

anyways im not sayin either way if you or the website are right or wrong just throwin it out there

thanks again though, for your reply.

just curious what makes you think i dont have a real pachanoi? i mean i doubt the pachanoi i have has been bred for its alkaloids but its a Sandy P nonetheless

yes they're very easy to grow, i havent had any problems the last year. cept i got 3 arms that i wanna turn into 3 new cacti to give away

anyways ill prob do my cloning soon, as i know it isnt gonna get colder from here on out

thanks again

San Pedro Cactus Preparation - How Much is How Much?

Okay, so I plan on preparing some San Pedro cactus for my first time, and I'm gonna follow this guide. Now, I've been trying to figure this out, but I can't quite get it right. How much would I need to be tripping roughly at the same level as 300 ug of LSD? A foot, two feet, or should it be measured in weight?

Lastly, another thing I'm confused about is the cooking time. That guide states you'll be cooking it for roughly 30 minutes on low heat, then 2-4 hours until there's not much left. However, at the start of the guide it says sometimes the cooking preparation for the native Peruvians took somewhere from 8-24 hours. I'm assuming that includes the cutting and straining, but I wanna be sure that I'm looking at roughly 5 hours of cooking time before I start.

Thanks!
