The Big and Dandy DMT Thread

well, DMT is in hundreds of different living organisms, including your brain (a theory) and one species of toad. most commonly it's found in B. caapi, Psychotria Viridis and Mimosa Hostilis.. which is what's in ayahuasca (aswell as an MAOI like Syrian Rue) so yes, DMT is whats in ayahuasca.

people often use it for self exploration and whatever side dishes comes with it. i've never tried it myself, #1 or 2 on my to-do list though. it is one of, if not THE most powerful psychedelics. not to be taken lightly or to get "fucked up".

what's it like? i can't even begin to describe what i don't know.

Thanks for the info

I've heard the body produces it after 72 hours no sleep or light of any kind.

I've looked at the erowid vault for it and was wondering what people here thought. :)
 
Yeah DMT is the active ingredient in ayahuasca. It is not orally active though so people smoke it for short yet very intense trips. It's a tryptamine, somewhat comparable to a mushroom trip in some respects. As for recreational value, it tends to be too powerful to be much use for merely recreation, though some would argue small doses can be, it is generally used to reach a verydifferent state of reality where contact with non-physical entities is possible.

This leads me to another question.

Contacting non physical entities, this can't be real, is has to be a hallucination.

The drug is what causes the hallucinations, there is no magic drug which makes God or what not come to earth and talk to you.

Right?

I'm certainly not knocking anyone because I really don't know and that is the truth.

But doesn't it seem that it would be a hallucination? This would occur strictly while on the drug which implies that one would be under the influence of the drug and simply hallucinating.
 
i've met many people who will smoke DMT casually and recreationally if it is on hand...
at last flipside, i was chillin and rolling with about 6 people in the guys tent next to me. I mentioned I had some DMT kind of offhandedly since i didn't expect anyone would want to do it. The vial and pipe got passed around like a cannabis pipe... O_O I was pretty fucking surprised because I definitely don't use it in the recreational sense.

i don't want to start shouting off a bunch of tomfoolery and blasphemy, but what i know about DMT is it's a chemical that interacts with your brain chemistry resulting in out of this world hallucinations and reality shifting experiences. i would not be surprised if that's all it is, and i would not be surprised if it's that and so much more..

all im sayin.

Yeah, guess theres only one way to find out.

I'm sure if were to try it I'd be just as convinced as everyone else, if not more. :)

it is, but what does that mean to "the one that see's" . the reality behind the reality. weird stuff to realy think about.
 
Its weird- reality is seen as something we 'receive' from external stimulus, but when we talk of things such as 'entities', elves etc. (hallucinations), its always considered to be something generated from within ie. not real. One of the two theories is right but not both. Either we generate the world via our conciousness, including all hallucinations, or we recive reality from an external source, which includes external hallucincations. I don't see why its so hard for people to accept the chance that DMT does in fact allow our brains to perceive other worlds, parted from this by only the sheerest veil....It seems more likely then my brain sponaneously creating such visions to me at least.

perceive other worlds or other realitys/universes?

basicly, the way I see it, its all got to be something, and thats what it all is, something. everything is something that experiences it self in order fro something to be experienced. The highest level of reality per say, the reason behind it all. Now those other realitys, they are there, but maybe just because they have to, in fact any relaity has to exist, and any possibility has to be true. What if you realy wernt your self, but rather a mirrior of your self.

Reality is just a hallucination...

But let me tell you a story as to why DMT is very special to me. About this time last year I smoked my last 'break-through' dose (I trust you're familiar with the term), well I was taken to 'the place', where I saw entities I knew and recognised from my experiences with psilocybin. The took me along a roller-coaster ride and bombarded my brain with their special information, there was a distinct feel that some sort of healing was taking place. Then towards th e end, as the ride began to wind down, my father appeared. The entities went to him and began their healing but after a moment came back and, with metaphysical shrug of the shoulders they told me that it was too late and there was nothing they could do.

I didn't think too much of it at the time but it was always at the back of my mind, and it gave me a sort of subconscious urge to talk to to my father about all sorts of things about life and death, he lived a long way away from me, and we only got the occasional time to see one another, so the last time I saw him we spent many a late night smoking weed and drinking red wine, discussing life and death. I even shared a low-dose DMT joint with him, his first go of it. When he died of a sudden heart attack at the start of this year the trip came back to me, I realised that the entities had already shown me this. I wept with joy and gratitude that, thanks to DMT, I had a chance to resolve so many of those deep issues with my dearly beloved father.

I'm not saying that with DMT you will meet god (you may very well meet someone, or more like many someones, but i don't know that you'd call them 'god'), but it has shamnic, theraputic benefits and that is undeniable.

I don't know what to say...but for you to experience that and acknowledge it and be able to talk about it is profound! i think you must be strong person because something like that does not sound like anything i would wish to get into :)
