The Aussie travellers thread!

Well i'm recently back from my last trip.

Starting off in Prague on my birthday, I was able to take a pic of the astrological clock exactly how it should look for my bday, I was quiet stoked by that

There is plenty to see in Prague its a brilliant city, I could post hundreds of photos, but I wont. The main square has basically a fantastic 360 degree view. The castle, apparently the largest in area in the world was pretty cool as well as the changing of the guards. The night life is fantastic, although I don't think i met any czechs out and about, so im guessing i found the tourist traps. Prague is pretty much a city you have to do, no matter how over run it will get with tourist.

HERE IS THE FOOTY TEAM.. well most of us

Vienna is a loverly city, I only spent about a day and a half there but, its interesting to hear the accent difference between german and austrians. I managed to do a night bike ride tour which took in most of the sites and also had one of the most awesome hot dogs (weiner dog) ever, it had cheese INSIDE the weiner! A pretty amazing church in the town square which unfortunately doesn't go a day without scaffolding around some part of the structure. A very good city to just stroll around. The Peoples Palace is also something to be seen.

Bratislava, well.. I don't have much to say about it. Just make sure if you ever catch the train there that you get to the old town station and not the new town one, as its about a two and a half hour walk through a dodgy ghetto soviet blocks area where I thought I was going to get jacked for sure with all my stuff on me. The town its self can be done in about 5 hours including the worst castle I have come across, cant knock them for trying though, it was rebuilt in the 50's, but just doesnt have that castle feel. I was in town for the Slovakia vs Poland WC qualifer, so i thought the town would be jumping.. It wasn't, they dont care much for football.

Budapest was fucking AWESOME! I love the place, I feel as though I cheated the place to only spend 3 nights there. I highly recommend doing a bike tour as its pretty spread out and a lot of history in the place that can't be known with only taking pictures. The night life is cracking, the people are friendly and its pretty cheap living. Although it is weird handing over 600 of a currency to by a pint in a pub. A day at the thermal baths is a must too... even just to watch the old guys with big chains playing chess all day in the bath. I'm still trying to decide if my favourite place is Krakow or Budapest, cause it was seriously that cool

Dee Cee, wish i knew you were going to Prague, could have told you about an awesome restaurant there, btw, you are so right, beautiful city

deecee have you been to Poland?

Yeah I have been to Krakow, had an absolute blast there. Did Auschwitz and the Saltmines which were awesome!

I'm currently doing the 1 year trek around europe. Been in the UK for the past 2 weeks then doing Ireland (dublin - st pattys day :D) Italy (Venice, Rome), Greece (Athens, Santorini) back to UK for a bit working in ireland for 5 months before doing Spain (Barcelona, Ibiza :D), Belgium (Antwerp), Germany (Munich - oktoberfest), Netherlands (Amsterdam :D) and France (Paris). Should be an awesome year! Can't wait for Ibiza :D

If you have time to get out of dublin for a few days, I highly recommend it! The irish countryside and towns are fantastic.

Hey Hey Long time! 3 years on and still traveling. Knocked off Sweden, Italy and Wales this year. Also travelled around the Scottish Isles and drunk plenty of whiskey.. Times are good.. Cept for the fact I lost a passport :(

Are you travelling overseas any time soon or are you there right now? Let us all know how it is and where you are!

Right now im in Rome but ive been to switzerland, London, Monaco, multiple cities in France and a few other places in the last 2 weeks and got about 5 more euro countries(including Amsterdam yeaya!) to go and im having a ball like never before. Its like 2AM here and im pissed as a fart and should probably go to sleep heh but still smiling nonetheless, got the sistine chapel and other roman attractions to see tomorrow but yer, im hoping theres some other Aussies getting around. Im the only one out of most people I know to go overseas and im sick of hearing "you lucky bastard" Im not a lucky bastard I just care about more than wasting money on drugs and shit, its not luck at all its just dedication.

So is anyone going anywhere special soon? Where, how, why and for how long?

Now I think sleep is on the books, sweet dreams or maybe its good morning to the Aussies!

I'm so excited! Will be sad to leave my wonderful friends and my lovely boy too though. Where are you flying into psytaco? I'll be in LA first off but then will be travelling around, would be cool to catch up with a fellow Aussie on the way though!

I wouldnt recommend any of the budget hostels that I stayed at unless you like over priced vomit smelling shit holes. Except maybe Hotel Brian in Amsterdam that was ok it was over looking one of the canals, close enough to the coffee shops etc and the guys in the reception were quite entertaining. That said it reeked of smoke and apparently they shoot pornos there. They dont hide it either theres a picture of a pornstar called Jenna Haze on the wall posing outside of her favourite suite there.

Try Hostel World or Trip Advisor for reviews and stuff regarding places to stay
