The all-new Girlie Thread: Post your beauty secrets here!

See i'll jump in the sun for 10 minutes and get a bit of colour - not much, just a hint, but a day, with sunscreen and i tan about 3 shades darker. I don't do that anymore. :(

I use the Garnier Bronzing Gel or whatever its called. Comes in a tube and is not sticky in the slightest, easy as ever to apply evenly and has a wicked dark colour that isn't orange.

It has little glitter sparkles in it but they're not that noticable. Also stinks of fake tan quite strongly so if you can handle that then its perfect for you DFRS.

It lasts for a couple of days too. I usually apply it and then top up with the Garnier moisturising tanner on the following days to keep it looking even.

^ So have people commented on the fake tan smell though? What can you do about that? Does perfume do the trick?

Nah they haven't commented, I can just smell it on me. Not sure if perfume will help. I don't think there's much you can do about it unfortunately :(

Sorry about all the questions. I am new to this stuff lol

Back in the day i would just go to the solarium. But now that i am wiser, no way!

I know you can't beat the real thing, but when you wanna be safe then there is no option but to remain to be pale (which isn't a bad thing) or to hit the bottle.

And it doesn't make your hands orange? How do you prevent that?

Easy - I just wash my hands thoroughly after applying it....just using regular liquid soap - but I give it two rinses just to make sure. You could use some abrasive soap like that one tradies use if you're real paranoid (I use it for getting oil paint off my hands as nothing else works!). :)

I was just reading on makeupalley about a foundation that some girls used to use when they were goths, and its the right colour for me now! As in my natural skin colour :D

No worries DFRS I hope you like the stuff. The good thing is, its only like $12 so if you don't end up loving it, its not like you've invested $50 plus into something you hate! :)

What is the make up that is so awesome vanth? You truly do have that milky soft skin that is impossible to find a colour for <3

The Garnier Summer Body tanning moisturiser is the one I've used. The smell is actually reasonably pleasant and as long as you wash your hands as soon as you've finished, paying attention to your nails, it seems to not leave any telltale signs. A few days and it's non-patchy tan time. I normally put some extra normal moisturiser on my elbows before putting the tanning stuff on just to be on the safe side.

I'm using the nivea one at the moment because the garnier one wasn't in my supermarket, but i don't like it as much. The colour is ok, but it takes too long to dry on your skin.

Thanks kittymeow :) At the moment I use Pout "Vanilla Cream" but I'll have to find a new one because that brand went under. The one they were talking about on Makeup Alley was MAC NW15 studiofix, its a powder foundation that I'm going to be trying out soon.

I use MAC - not the powder foundation though. I'm nowhere near the same shade as you, but MAC is really great. My shade is NC25 and I use the Studiofix liquid foundation and the powder on top.
I rarely actually use the liquid, only when I'm going out - powder and concealer is usually enough coverage for the day.

Same. Powder to set, and concealer on my t-zone - all MAC. Can't talk them up any more! Their products are great, easy to use and super reliable.
Also the staff are wonderous [if you can get one of them alone as people literally swarm the counters].

My wedding makeup was MAC and it was divine, anyone who's seen my pics ;) Stayed on all day like a dream. Unfortunately it's a little out of my league price-wise. I make do with Covergirl, Maybelline and Revlon these days, we've too much more important stuff to save for.

Calling for opinions on moisturisers with tanner.

Not so impressed with Johnsons.

But am I spoiled with post-WA skin at present?

I'm in WA too, It's hard to compete with the 'orange barbies' -as if you'd want to.
Any I'm basically nocturnal, except when I'm on BL so self tanners are a good way to go, I've been using NIVEA-Sun kissed skin (moisturiser with a touch of self tanner) it builds up over a few days and actually looks natural.
Now heres the tip: To avoid dark patches on your knees, elbows etc. First use a regular moisturiser on those areas, I use Palmers coca-butter formula, then put on the moisturiser/self tanner. No more obvious dark patches!
