I waited over 48 hours before entering detox. The first 24, I took other drugs to ease the WD's, by the 48 hour point I was in utter hell. Nothing helped, and that's when I went in for suboxone.A good rule of thumb is 24 hours, try for longer if you were sniffing and not IVing.
I was sniffing so I'll see how long I can hold out, but if I'm coming down real hard by the morning isn't that withdrawal symptom enough to necessitate my first dose? I mean, first does is supposed to be taken at first signs of symptoms, eh?
Preciate the advice dood![]()
if I get to 24 can I just take it regardless of how I feel?
How long would it take to get off the blocking effects of 32mg suboxone after dosing in this manner every 3 or 4 days for several months. In my experience, 96 hours hasn't done the trick.
Captain.Heroin said:The THC in marijuana encourages cancerous cells to die off. Studies that compared light, moderate, and heavy cannabis use and found there is no increase in cancer risk in any group.
Smoking marijuana does not cause cancer. Marijuana has ZERO related deaths.
without suboxone i would have been left in the dust, in terms of ever qutting shooting up heroin. thank you suboxone for giving me my freedom and sanity back, there is no price or high that is too good to sacrifice ones sanity, in my opinion.
^^^^^YES! That's what I'm fucking talking about!!! Suboxone is a miracle. life-saving, get back to living normal, type of drug. I swear by it, and love to read these kinds of posts!!! I'm 48, and have experienced everything from shooting galleries(in So. Central L.A. no less!), to detoxing cold turkey on jail cell floors, to finally going to prison for robbery, all during a 15+ yr. run on heroin and other opiates. So, for me? Buprenorphine rocks! I'm also a raging alcoholic, and I've discovered that the Nalaxone in the Suboxone really does help reduce my cravings for alcohol, which of course is another plus. After walking around in a self induced "COMA" for so long, (methadone, clonipins, alcohol, etc) every single day, I'd have to say that I'm a walking miracle today and I owe it all to Suboxone, and to people who still care about me.
Peace & Luck, Christopher
So as I've said before I have been on about 20mg of sub for like 11 days now and I got ahold of some 2mg alprazolam yesterday and I'm just wondering
a.) if this is as deadly a combo as I've read in some places?
and
b.) what would be good starting dose of the alprazolam? (only used once or twice ever)
^^Mixing any benzo with Suboxone or any other opiate is normally the way people who do O.D., end up doing it, with normally some alcohol thrown in too.
However, if you only take one or two, (that is Xanax right? Or?) you should be fine. But do the smart thing, and begin small. You can always take more if you need to, but keep in mind that benzos normally take some time to get into your system....and this is where the danger comes in-people start swallowing pills too quickly, because they aren't "feeling it" soon or good enough. Understand?
Brest of luck, and have fun but use your head,
Christopher
No, you want to take suboxone in the middle of severe withdrawal. You want to do this because you want your body to get a start on the WD. You're going to have to come down anyways, the further you get through it w/o suboxone, the quicker you will taper down from suboxone. Suboxone then will make you feel immensely better, and you're not that likely to have precipitated WD's.
The first does shouldn't be taken at first signs of symptoms. You should wait as long as you possibly can.
If you can utilize any benzodiazepines, they can really help. Some more than others. Marijuana is also a LIFE SAVER for when one is trying to kick dope - there's nothing like going from that extreme despiration/physical WDing to a pleasant, smooth, fresh hit of some dank bud.
Other than this, I'm going to suggest you tough it out. Benadryl can help for sleep, though I personally find doxylamine succinate more useful (more kick my ass into some deep sleep usefulness).
You could, however, I advise if you can make it to 24 hours, smoke some herb, and take 50mg diphenhydramine (or more) and pass out for as long as possible. If you wake up in the middle of the night, I'd suggest to take a benzo (preferrably something like alprazolam or temazepam or flurazepam) and to use it sparingly (you certainly don't want to withdrawal from benzos and opiates at the same time), or to drink some alcohol if necessary (between hours 24 and 48 I started to drink an ounce or two of gin whenever I felt down - which was often - I ended up downing a good 8 or 10 ounces without actually feeling anything but slight come down and drunkenness.) What's more funny is that I woke up kicking within hours of falling asleep drunk as fuck - no more euphoria, right back to the shakes, the sweats, the goosebumps, the nerves on the outside of your body sensation..the whole works. I took 1mg clonazepam - I got 1 more hour of sleep before returning to the same predicament. I thought I was going to lose it - I certainly did not have enough benzos to ride out the whole WD, so I had to do something.
My girlfriend set up an appointment for me to see a psychiatrist, and he helped me get on suboxone. I got a few 2mg pills to tide me over until I got 60 8mg's for the month. The day I had that first 2mg pill, I could feel the monkey HOPPING THE FUCK OFF MY BACK.
^^ Yes! Yes! Yes!:D
It was such a good feeling...I remember crying, knowing I had saved myself from a great deal of unnecessary suffering in life, but also because I can be perfectly functioning now without heroin.
^^DITTO! I too swear by this drug! Your input/posts always seem dead-on, to me at least.
So...all in all, you can take it at 24 hours, try for longer. If you can't, and it really is that bad, odds are you're in sufficient enough WD. But please realize, your body's unique biochemistry makes it hard for us to tell you when it'll be OK for you to do it.
Heroin effects different people differently. I want to say you'll be OK, but I don't want you to go through precipitated WD's. I've seen people go through precipitated WD because they were stupid, and you're not stupid, you don't deserve to go through them. Like, if I'm saying here's how this is...and you think you know better than me, don't come crying to me when you're puking your guts up, feeling like hell. This kid thought he could take a 7.5mg hydrocodone, and then within an hour of taking it, he snorted 2mg of suboxone, rationalizing he "hadn't done any hydro's today, the last one was a few hours ago..." some bullshit, I watched him take it right in front of me. So I watched him go through precipitated withdrawal, trying to lie about it, wishing he could just "feel a high", not wondering how that actually works.
Pharmacology kicked his ass, I'll say. He was on the road, had to pull over to puke several times.
At least bubble seems intelligent enough to want to do things right, and is willing to ask the right questions in the right way. Thank you for respecting suboxone.
I can't say that often enough to enough people...more ought respect buprenorphine and it's mighty power.
^^^Couldn't have said it better myself!!!Suboxone rocks!!!!!!!!

actually man the naloxone in suboxone does nothing because the buprenorphine has a higher affinity for the opioid receptors and always overpowers the naloxone, rendering it ineffective. so if something in suboxone is reducing your alcohol cravings, it must be the buprenorphine itself.
also, no need to triple post, just put everything you wanna say in 1 single post. mods will get on to you about that. just letting you know, even thought your not that new.
Edit: oops looks like mr. blonde beat me to the part about not triple posting.
^ I don't think you're using the quote button correctly. And try not to triple post please.
Thanks for the guidance. Is there a "tutorial" on using the quote buttons?
Also, what is a "triple post"????? Posting 3 times in one post, seperated like I do? Or, posting to 3 different posts the same morning?
Gracias!
And that they did! Mods on my ass as we speak, chris. No biggie though, as I only want to help, and would like to do it the correct way, so thanks to you both! (as he goes and crawls under a rock, contemplating taking another clonipin and maybe even a 1/2 tab of Sub..)
