Yea that's what fascinates me as well.

I mean it's true that external factors can sometimes make thier way into dreams, (Tv shows, Radio, Parents fighting etc)

But how come we can move around our bed, sneeze, cough, fart, move the blanket around, and yet these factors don't seem to affect the dream experiance at all?

One thing to remember is that our body paralyzes itself during sleep (as not to act out the dream) so perhaps that's the reason we can block out external stimuli so easily.

I dug up another example of how environmental factors influence saliva trips. This is from the Big & Dandy Salvia Thread-Second Iteration in January 2008. There was a lot of talk about conveyor belts, ferris wheels and the like at that time.

People were on a rainbow-like path pushing strollers toward a door. They told me to follow them through the door; I moved over to the door (did I fly? at this point, my friends have told me I was talking outloud saying "open the door" and waving my arms as though I was diving through water). My friend was trying to fuck with me so he said out loud "no, close the door!"

Back at salvia land, I experienced a hand come out of the direction of my friend and hold the door shut.

I wanted badly to know what was behind the door. I felt as though my friend had intentionally held this door, the door to the meaning of my existence, closed. I remember feeling a terrible feeling against him as I often do get pissed on salvia trips when people talk, make noise or fuck with me at all. I get frustrated and yell. lol.

ive only tripped on salvia once and i did not experience a conveyor belt like most say, but i did imagine sumthing moving slowly towards me (like a conveyor belt) that represented a mixture of pride and money (at this time i was dealing and my money was my pride, i know its sad) at that time i then swallowed my pride and almost choked on it. It took me a while (till long after dealing fucked me over) to realize that salvia was telling me that i had to end my obsession wiht money.

Instead the whole trip consisted of severely elevated feelings of despair, with no visions or strange happenings at all. Heightening emotions as profoundly as salvia did that day was the sole forte of classical 5-HT psychedelics, I had thought. It only happened once, but that radical departure from it's usual behavior made me think that salvia must be a full-fledged, mind manifesting, albeit far left-field, psychedelic.

Since salvia is both an ego dissolver and a powerful somatosensory hallucinogen--with its fluctuating gravity effects, crawling skin tingles, and reports of people being zipped down their middle--I wonder how much of the integrity of our egos depends on a steady sense of the the integrity of our bodies i.e. as discussed, how much of salvia's visionary content truly is a direct interpretation of its physical symptoms and how much is added in by salvia's influence on other non-somatosensory brain systems.

Yeah, at one point this summer I smoked a bowl of potent extract after a long, sleep deprived week that started with my first 2C-Experience, and spiraled maniacally until the aforementioned SD experience... I didn't have visuals or anything of the like, just a total catatonic breakdown where the input from my senses was so mangled it became a constant feedback loop of non-understanding. As I came down I went through some kind of schizophrenic deprogramming where I saw my life from the perspective of three people close to me. Than "I" saw the previous week I spent fried on 2C-E from an extremely detached perspective that had me convinced I was a manic/obsessive shizophrenic by the time I was totally down.

It scared me more than anything, I mean even for a short period of time seeing your own life as nothing more than a series of random coincidences... Terrifying. Like your experience I thought that kind of vision was more in the league of epic doses of classical psychedelics. My friend had undergone a similar experience on a massive amount of 2C-E and a host of other psychs. So I guess you could say that was weighing on my psyche for the week, which combined with the sleep deprivation and dissociative qualities of SD made me jump to those tangents on the return to reality. But still, like most manic breaks it had the quality of being absolutely and totally convincing within that moment. I intended to break through that night and experience the kinds of things described in this thread, conveyor belts, dissociation, strange visuals and sensations. But to have your head ripped out of the matrix is something else entirely, and speaks to the classic visionary nature of the Diviner's Sage...

I had a brief encounter with something like this on mushrooms, it was very fun , but it had some of the same essence to it as what you all are describing.

I have only done shrooms a couple times, salvia more then that but I don't think there is anyway you can have any idea what salvia is like until you do it. Its unlike anything I've ever done, though i haven't done that munch.

I was glad I tried it and I did do it again but there is no way that I can say it was fun. Very scary shit. I can't even imagine how freaked out I would be being high for hours instead of 20 minutes.

I laugh at the people who learn its legal, hear it called a 'pot alternative' and try it.
