OPIOD FIENDs hate ALCOHOL??

i wasnt aware this was the case with so many people (in addition to myself). when i first started using dope, i would usually have some beers with it and be fine. my only previous opiate experience was vicodins, and i always had that with a couple beers. but as time wore on, i became less and less tolerant to alcohol w/ my opies, to the point where a sip or two could make me feel nauseous/very uneasy.

same thing with pot. i had a daily pot habit for the past seven years. but smoking weed while doped up brings on severe panic attacks/labored breathing. i'm actually quite happy with exchanging a weed habit for a dope habit. as long as i keep the supply steady (which hasnt been a problem lately), im much happier on dope. overall less paranoid, stressed out, and way more social. i find it very strange that now i view weed in such a negative light now. i never thought it would come to this, haha. but it seems that weed fucks me up (in a negative way) much more than dope does. hmm...

I love alcohol and oxycodone is my DOC. Alcohol gives me a wonderful euphoria and I also enjoy opiates + alcohol. I think it has to do with the fact that I no longer use opiates daily and am able to keep my use to a couple times a week max. Alcohol and opaites combied never comes close to the wonderful feeling I get from opiates alone, but it offers a great social high that you can't get from either on their own.

I still prefer opiates to alcohol and opiates on their own, but alcohol is great IMO besides the negative health effects.

I never really had a taste for being drunk, but opiates were the first substance I ever used and got a high from. So maybe I'm a little biased. I did go through a period in my mid teens where I used cocaine everyday for about 5 months, but when I decided I didn't want to do it anymore I just stopped. I have never been able to do that with opiates. And to this day I have tried coke twice since then, and didn't enjoy it. I just can't bring myself to use anything else if opiates are available...

How long have you been doing dope for?

I don't think you'll find too many people that are happy about moving on to a dope addiction.

understatement of the century 8)

That (OPs statement, not yours Carl) is one of the craziest things I've heard in awhile.

I always say that I wish I liked alcohol cause I think it would be easier than being a junkie, but I'm mostly joking and the "easier" part I'm talking about is just that it is cheaper and more socially acceptable. I don't for a second think that alcoholics are better off than junkies.

I don't know how people get the super bliss feeling from opiates withouth pot. I always feel that if most heavy opiate users(H, fent) would stop after a few hydrocodones, and take a few small rips, they would take it easy, relax, and enjoy the high. I know that some people get paranoid on bud, but just a little bit kicks in the opiates for me and most people I know.
On topic I freakin hate alcohol with a passion, even after I quit opiates.

I sort of agree. I have (well, had) been a several-times-a-day, every-day pot smoker for at least six years before my opiate habit became a heavy, daily use kind of thing... I was rolling in money, so I was smoking 3.5-7 grams a day, solo (on top of 600mg/5-6 bags of dope per day). Pot really did a lot to improve the opiate high in every aspect... Pot is to heroin what tobacco is to alcohol.

Also, I was working as a bartender at this time, so I was drinking every single night, and lots of whiskey at that. Often blackout drunk. I know (and all of my "friends" told me constantly) how dangerous it was, but I never had any problems (well, I may have and I just don't know about it, but I'm still alive, and that's saying something).

At the time, I was ALWAYS mixing my oxy/heroin with booze and pot, and quite often with cocaine/crack too, whenever the opportunity arose (which was a lot, actually... a few days a week. More often than not, I'd say.).

Since I "quit" and went on Suboxone, I gave up booze and the daily pot smoking too, and gave up cocaine completely. I've been 99% clean and sober for almost a year now. I do take a few vacations (once every few months) for a shot in the arm, but that's always been by itself (no booze, pot, or cocaine) and feels great.

I've had alcohol twice in the last year. I don't know if it's because of my opiate habit, or the fact that I'm on suboxone specifically, but one time I had a double shot of whiskey, and another time I had two light beers, and both times I felt like complete shit: dirty, disgusting, nauseous, and generally gross and crappy.

So at the time, I loved mixing booze and opiates, but lately I hate booze altogether.

I've smoked pot a few times by itself, and enjoyed it. I'm sure I'll love it when I mix it with opiates again.

Fuck it's 6am and I'm writing a long fucking rambling-ass post.

Good night / Good morning Bluelight.

Personally, I never really enjoyed alcohol to begin with. I never lost the interest in using other drugs though. I mainly enjoyed weed and all psychedelics. Cocaine was never that interesting to me to begin with, but I definitely see no recreational value in it now that I've done heroin.

I can have a drink socially speaking, but I really dislike the effects of alcohol (and tobacco). I would heavily prefer a benzodiazepine like alprazolam or lorazepam by far.

when i was 15 in highschool, it was all about trying to find someone who could get me liquor so that i could get wasted in my room on the weekends. it would be a good weekend for me if i was able to stay up late and get trashed in my room. when i got my license i would go out with friends and enjoy drinking a lot, and it would feel awesome. since i've had H and oxycodone tho, alcohol is an inferior substance to me. now i spend all my time trying to find boy when i can. its crazy to think how alcohol is socially acceptable even though its just as much of a drug as H. i think one of the main reasons i still like drinking every now and then is because its something that is socially acceptable. i can drink with my cousins or friends and have a good time, but if i asked them to do H they would probably flip. so basically i still drink, but its more to have a good time with other people that look down on harder drugs. if u tell people you use H they'll think you're weird. it freaks people out

i used to enjoy drinking but no longer can after using marijuana and opioids. the highs from marijuana and opiates are just so clean and blissful while the high from alcohol is filthy.

I am the same way. I quit drinking Alcohol COMPLETELY, as it does have such a dirty, nasty feeling to it :\ . And then the hangover you get from drinking. I'm not sure why, but when I started using opiates for awhile, and then went out drinking one night, I got the worst fucking hangovers ever :p :!, so I gave drinking up completely.

Besides, I'd rather be an opiate addict, rather than be an Alcoholic, because at least you can't die from opioid withdrawal. Something similar to alcohol that is 100 times more cleaner that I use 'SOMETIMES' from time to time is GHB. Much cleaner feeling, and also does not leave you feeling like shit after it wears off. It wears off a lot quicker than Alcohol does, and leaves you feeling kind of refreshed and better. Also - GHB if made properly, by a proper chemist, or pharmaceutical company; GHB is also non toxic. :)

Im in the same boat. I used to love drinking, or going to raves and eating e or speed or doing blow, used to love basically every drug out there, now I have no intrest or desire to do any of them, only opiates

Since being on suboxone i've grown to enjoy drinking somewhat. I dont crave it or chase after it like old opiate habbits, but it's better than nothing. give it a shot, don't over drink, and you might like it. the best feeling you get from it is somewhere between sober and drunk.

I must be crazy, but nothing is a better opioid potentiator(sp?) than a good double crown and coke... I think they go hand in hand. And I do not find alcohol anywhere close to opiates in addictive properties... It simply does not have the physical withdrawls symptoms. I can drink a six pack every day and will feel kinda funky but If i stop I will only recover. I think in my mind I have it planted that opiates are SOO addictive and when i use them for 4 or 5 days and quit I feel like hell for a couple days... I fiend for them... Alcohol is shitty, I don't think it should be legal if everything else that fucks you up that bad is... but the man can't control the production of alcohol. If every pot smoker was to grow 10 plants a year, it would eventually become legal as it would be far too easy to smoke up and there would be no money in the drug trade for pot... I'm rambling... My answer to original question... Alcohol and opiates go well together, BUT BE VERY CAREFUL!!! Small + Small equals medium Large + Large equals OD...

I loved opiates long before I ever drank. I only started drinking after i had went through my first major battle with opiate addiction and had gotten clean. Alcohol was a poor substitute and I found that i really enjoyed the flavor of certain craft beers and high end single barrel bourbons.

I cultivated that taste for top-end beer for several years, eventually giving up pot (which i had never really liked much to begin with) in favor of beer for my nightly relaxation ritual. One good high grav beer before bed provided just the right amount of relaxation to wind down and get some good sleep. Later, as I was really wanting to relapse on opiates but didn't have access, my drinking escalated, but I could never drink even moderately heavy for more than a month or six weeks before the disgusting properties of alcohol intoxication turned me off from booze. The "buzz" is basically one of "sickness" masquerading as fun.

So I would stop drinking for a few months, then want to get fucked up, and the cycle would repeat.

Let me state that I REALLY like the taste of high quality IPAs, Tripels, Imperial Stouts, Belgian Blonde Ales, and Hefeweizens. But more than one and the negative effects of the alcohol outweight the pleasurable sensation of drinking.

Throughout my many relapses back on to opiates, i usually was drinking to excess for a while before I would finally give in to what i really wanted--dope--then my alcohol consumption would cease immediately. then i'd get off dope, be sober for a bit, start drinking every now and again.... and the cycle would repeat itself...

I've been back on opiates for a couple of months now and my drinking has almost completely ceased. I tried to split a 750mL La Fin Du Monde with my brother for his birthday last weekend and I couldn't even finish one glass-- then it gave me a headache on top of that. I did get the hankering for a beer this afternoon and I enjoyed a 12oz DFH 90 min IPA. It was very tasty and one was enough to satiate the desire and I'm drinking apple juice now.

i used to be raddicted to heroin but went on methadone and am now clean but i do drink every once in awhile...i find booze to be very hit and miss...sometimes i will take a shot or two and i will feel much better, more alert, energetic, more motivated, more social etc etc...then, the other half of the time i will feel like complete garbage....i will think to myself 'why am i drinking this nasty shit?'..so, alcohol is ok but i would much rather prefer GHb or opiods in comparison..
