funny, i drank like a fish 365 days a year until i started bupe maintenance... since starting bupe, i got wasted the first few days until i realized it made me feel shitty every time... i've had 2 drinks on 2 occasions since then and got the same result = feeling like absolute garbage.

so for me, bupe maintenance put an end to my drinking.
 
Never was much of a drinker when I did stuff. When I got on MMT, by contrast, alcohol and methadone go together like penut butter and Jelly.8o
 
I love drinking and I think it mixes well with opiates, but I only take a few drinks because too many will make me feel like crap.
I like a large amount of opiates with a small amount of booze, and some weed.
 
I find that, after taking opiates long term, the only other drug I enjoy is coke. I haven't done it in quite a while though.
 
after having a large opiate habit (now semi-under control), I don't like alcohol at all. It makes me depressed. The only drugs I do now are opiates, benzos, and pot. I always look chilled out and everyone at uni tags me as super-pothead when im usually just on my daily dose of suboxone and klonopin (and lamictal).
 
when i cant get any opiates, either getting full blown wasted is fun, OR getting like a 4 shot buzz and smoking a few bowls is really euphoric. but when your withdrawling its not fun at all.

after smoking tar the day before, i coudlnt bring myself to drink last night, just didnt feel right.

I"m the same way NS. I really enjoy having a few drinks then poppin my hydros. Well, TBH, if I have a few drinks, I seriously fiend hydrodone so badly that it's not even funny. :|
 
I used to hate drinking... hate the taste of beer and the feeling of getting drunk. but that was when i was heavy on xanax, opiates, and pot. Once i ran out of those three wonders (minus pot) i "learned" to love the taste of beer and being fucked up... so much so that i always drink alone just like how i used to do drugs alone.
So IMO it's really a matter of what drug you're on at the moment that changes your perspective on other substances....
 
I started using drugs a good while before trying alcohol. Now I rarely enjoy getting drunk. Sometimes it's nice to feel that shift in sobriety but there's not much about drunkenness or even the buzz that's fun for me. I feel the same way about benzos.
 
LOL someone got out the gravedigger for this thread. As an alcoholic on buprenorphine maintainance I can't lie that I love booze + opioids. In fact I never ever understood benzos as they pack the same punch as booze BUT lack the euphoria. No hangover though I guess!
 
I never liked alcohol over any other recreational drugs, but in their absence I'll drink to avoid being "overly" sober.

Initially, my first few times withdrawaling from opiates I drank like a damn fish. Got really drunk for a long long time. In the end I learned that the alcohol doesn't help much, makes me feel like shit.

I do enjoy a few good beers with buddies, but anything stronger than that just feels like shitting on my health and never improves the buzz.

This thread does resonate with the adolescent mentality to negate/demonize/mock habits that were replaced with "cooler", more risky, more lifestyle-consuming habits.

Opiates haven't made me hate alcohol. Indirectly, for a short while, they made me love alcohol (during those first dozen acute withdrawals) but in the long run being a junkie had no effect on how I perceive the world's favorite drug.
 
When I was bang into smack I wouldn't drink - purely because it wasn't as good as smack, and my money was better spent on that.

When I'm on the bupe I drink every night. I don't drink 'till I'm skullfucked but I have a 4 pack and enjoy it.

watch out man. I don't think thats a very safe combo. I used to do the same until I read thats how most people die when they're on methadone.
 
I can't fathom how people don't like booze, not saying i am not taking your opinion of it into consideration, but i love it all, vodka, brandy, whiskey, wine, stout, beer, lager everything.
 
Let me re-phrase- I don't like the effects of alcohol. I love the taste of a good beer, tequila, etc.
