No, that's not the case. I was a gymnast (i know, i said that before) and i have a trained eye. If an American gets a low score because they made mistakes i.e., Balance checks, stepping out of bounds, not sicking a landing, changing a routine or pass than yes..they should get a low score but if you were watching last night the Chinese were getting higher scores even though they were making more mistakes. A good example is the beam: Chinese girl made about 5 balance checks, American girl made 1-- Chinese girl gets higher score. Yes, she had a higher start value BUT the mistakes should have counteracted the higher score.
And i even said the Chinese men deserved their gold, they didn't make mistakes, the American guys did. But, with the woman's there were inconsistencies with the scoring. You make mistakes you get 10ths taken off period and the Chinese were not getting 10ths taken off. It was clear as day.
I think the Chinese girls are brilliant gymnasts and if they deserved a high score than they should get a high score but if they're making mistakes and not getting anything taken off, I'm sorry.. something is wrong.
Heck.. i think it's great when someone gets gold in their own country, it's a beautiful thing but fair is fair, rules are rules, age limits are age limits... mistakes get points taken off, it's simple as that and it was clear as day that this wasn't happening. It was MORE than obvious! It was painfully obvious actually. Which amazes me.
