Was the call wrong? I read in an interview that Hitchcock said(and i"m paraphrasing) "by the books it was a penalty, but just let the players play", What kind of crap is that? Furthermore, Had Modin let the puck go by, there would have been an icing penalty on the wings. The jackets would have had a chance on a faceoff in Detroit's zone. The second he touched that puck it was a penalty. I'm sorry if you think thats shitty, but its the truth. Throwing beer bottles on the ice because you don't like a call is classless. Throwing octopi on the ice is tradition though :D
I get that it was an emotional moment. Your first playoff appearance ever, game tied with 47 seconds left. Emotions run high. However, its not like it was a bullshit call. They did have too many players on the ice. If it was the wings who were in the penalty I guarantee you would be all for the call.
I'll give the jackets credit. That was an amazing game. They played well. They had their heads on a swivel and were making plays. I wish they had played with that intensity the whole series. It makes for a great series, which win or lose I love to watch.
and for the record I grew up 20 miles north of Detroit. I have been a wings fan since I was in the womb. My dad used to get a 9 game package every year when I was growing up. I loved them even in the early 90's when they were the "dead wings". Just like my Lions who I will love until I die(even if they didn't win a single game last year)-- a fair weather fan I am not.
