News: Campaign to snuffle shuffle in Sydney picks up pace

I guess what I'm saying is it's a fucking dance move, not neurosurgery.

The whole point of dancing at nightclubs is to enjoy yourself, not to pick apart someone because they don't meet your exacting standards. If somebody is out there having a good time and not hurting anybody, why does it matter whether they're shit or not? If they say they're shuffling, they're shuffling. It's not like you have to meet some kind of standard before the Dance Police give you a little badge saying "congratulations, you are now a MELBOURNE SHUFFLER." 8(

Sydney shufflers take it too seriously. The Dance Police are the shufflin.com forums and their uniforms are those stupid t-shirts and hoodies with their logo on it. Now there's PHD branded parties here and the Sydney shufflers are wearing their hoodies too.

The clubs named in that article are mostly house-oriented though. That's a completely separate group of wankers entirely, but I do agree with that change in music policy line. Maybe wanky electro will go out of fashion.

As I stated, stompy is FINE when it's done properly! Must I keep repeating myself with you. God damn. lol

The message is still the same:

But even then, it's just another style, that should be hated nor loved no more than any other. Banning a style of dancing because it doesn't fit in with the rest of the crowd completely goes against what the essence of dancing is supposed to be about.

This little argument you willing started all came about me finding some guy broadcasting his every tiny bit of improvement of his shuffle on the internet somewhat amusing. You don't think he is aware that he will be amusing whoever stumbles across his videos? I think he actually has a lot more of a sense of humour than yourself.

I'm sure he knew people would find it amusing. The first video he captioned indicating that he was a "fkn noob to shuffling, only one month experience."

Also I realise how trivial I'm being in arguing over this, but once I start I can't stop :)

I want to see drugfukkdrockstar shuffle at a doof ! At least there would be no need for talcum powder, with the dust and all :p ;)

Ps... I love a great doof :)

Okay so me + acid + long hippy skirt + bare feet or sandals + acid + alcohol + bulbs + shuffle = disgrace!

Oh what a great youtube flick that would make!=D

^Righto - so we're not even on the same page. Nice one dude. Next time before you get all hot headed, make sure it even applies to you or the clubs you go to. 8)

I started off talking about shufflers at house clubs...

I never mentioned trance clubs, and you referred to it as 'Sydney scene' I think?

Just pointing out, that you can't really throw it on me like that, since it was a misunderstanding on behalf of both parties.

Well I hope you feel better now. Got ally our frustrations out? lol
Just next time make sure we're referring to the same thing before you get started with your arguing. It would make for a better argument at that.

Mmmm I dont think age has anything to do with this at all..clubs, venues or drugs.
I think the shuffle takes up to much room on the floor and should be kept to the back of the room or floor where they can go hard for 5mins then take their break and start again =D or until someone starts watching them again. As Space Tribe says... Dance like no one is watching works best for me...;)

Agreed! :)

I all along have said 'rave' rave' 'rave' through out my posts, so there fore it is pretty clear I was referring to trance clubs. Just pointing that out.

Hmmm. Alright, my bad.

I've only really dabbled in the rave and trance club scene (been to 2 raves, and been to trance nights 3 or 4 times.) My experience centres more around festivals and clubs, at which shufflers tend to be few and far between, but I have still seen some very good ones (and some really poor ones, who often tend to be really drunk, go figure hey? ;) ).

Now what I call inspiring to watch is a crazy Israeli going off to crazy psy at a doof. Now that's an awesome sight to see.

All good! I mean after all - I am all for this shuffle to house/electro music idea. As I said I think they need to funk it up a bit more - but I am sure that there are some very funky versions of house shuffling at the clubs and events you go to. I hope the girls get into that as well - that would look sexy as!

Oh yea of course, I think cus it's slower you can bob and sway with the beat a bit more. I call it rockin (with the beat).

Actually now that you mention it... I did see a lot of chicks shuffling at Parklife. Like, I actually thought to myself on the day "fark, I've never seen this many chicks get into the shuffle before" (considering it wasn't a rave). Something that should be encouraged I say :D

It was only a matter of time before PHD took over!!

It's the uniform of Melbourne rave scum and Sydney is now stealing it. :p

Can't they go back to wearing Nautica and running around backwards in circles around each other like they were last time I went to a rave? At least that way I can show them how to dance their dance properly (i.e. moshing).

I've always thought that the Melbourne Shuffle - yes, even "back in the day" looked like a cracked-out version of the Charleston/Boston 2-step. ;) I have a very funny memory of going to a 2-tribes years ago, and watching a girl i used to be friends with, decided that she could do the melbourne shuffle - it was fcuking hilarious. :D

I appreciate all forms of dance, but i think i hold shuffling in slight contempt because of the bloody elitism that seems to surround it. Who the fuck ruffles their rooster feathers and thinks "heh, i can melbourne shuffle". I can understand prima ballerinas performing for the Russian Ballet doing the same, but hell, there's no comparison. ;)

OMFG! I was in Sydney a month ago and i saw this at a club. It was fucking hillarious!

Even a guy on E couldn't do a dodgey running man in time with the beat LOL

Leave the shuffling to us southeners.

I personally think it brings alot of energy to the atmosphere of clubs and raves down here. I know alot of international DJ's love coming to Melb and having hundreds or even thousands of shufflers tearing it up from front to back.

Sure beats the gay boppy dances of alot of other places

I've only seen a club full of shufflers once, in Melbourne, i kinda felt like everyone was going through Re-Nedification. ;) A very strange experience - part of me was in awe of everyone dancing almost exactly the same way (kinda like Riverdance), but the other part wanted to back out of the club, slowly, with my eyes to the ground. I'm sure there is individualism within the style, but that night it was like everyone had been programmed to dance exactly. the. same. way. So weird.

I don't understand 8(

Eh, it's just the elitism that seems to stem from it, i was having a bit of a rant. I'm probably being contradictory with my comment comparing ballet to the shuffle, but to me, there is no comparison. :)
