Mushroom Season 2007

This information can be easily found in the previous years mushroom threads. Search for it, its been covered a hundred times before.

But learning how to identify shrooms from information found off the internet can be dangerous. You eat the wrong mushies and you can die a slow and painful death, no joke. Much safer to find an experienced shroomer and learn off someone with the proper knowledge.

But yeah, i weigh them, normally around 3.5-4g's for a pretty nice trip.
! 3.5-4g of dried subs is a massive dose! Not really what I'd recommend for a "pretty nice trip." 1 to 2g of potent subs is usually enough to have a nice, but still controllable mushroom experience. I find 2.5g or more (if they've been properly stored/preserved) is enough to invoke strong visions.

Supposedly a level teaspoon of finely powdered mushrooms equals about a gram. But really, if you use mushrooms a fair bit, buy some scales - you can get surprisingly decent ones on ebay for about $30.

PS - I'm excited!! NSW season will be here soon! Woo!

Well dude, thats what im after :\
I take mushrooms to have a powerful experience, not just a giggle and see a few patterns.

Each to their own though...

Cool, cool... :)
I guess what you might call "a pretty nice trip" is what I'd call an "ohhh fuuuuck, what have I done to myselfffffff..." trip. =D
I've never really felt the need to venture over 3g of subs, as I find that is still a very, very powerful experience.

Yeah well the way i look at it, 2-3g's gives me the kind of trip where i always feel myself struggling to hold on, on to what i dont know but its like im still trying to keep my shit together. Whereas with 4+, i find that straight away im catapulted into this awesome and intense experience, and normally have no anxiety or any nervousness.

This could just be me though. Dont get me wrong, if i want to sit around with a few mates and watch some TV and have a giggle ill only have 2g's or so but normally when i have mushrooms which is very very rarely these days, i want to get fairly high =D

can someone give some tips on what kind of areas to search and how to identify psylos? im pretty sure thats not sourcing :/

I learnt on my own. It's not that hard but you need to be 100% sure you're picking the right ones. They aren't that hard to find if you look hard enough. ;)

Look at these pictures...
http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/mushrooms_images1.shtml#psil-subaer
Psilocybe subaeruginosa is the name of the ones that grow everywhere in Vic. Study up.

I went for a walk down to my patch and as expected it's waaaaay too dry for anything to be growing.

Yeah i learnt on my own too. I studied the shit for ages though, so i knew exactly what to look for and how to avoid galerina's/conocybes etc.

Hellraiser, I dont think your allowed mushroom ID's on BL, but you should sign up to the shroomery (www.shroomery.org) and get any finds ID'd there and also get some hunting tips. If not, i'd be happy to look at some pictures for your and confirm whether they are active or not.

Peace

why not just press em onto toilet paper if people are unsure?
and from memory if it leaves a blue stain then you got the goods...if it leaves a brown stain its the wrong sort and from memory if it leaves a green stain DONT PICK as im pretty sure green is left by death caps..!

any1 keen to elaborate....but this was the way i always used to check:\

Nah man. Definitely not a reliable way to ID them. Some boletes also bruise blue, and some gymnopilus, some of which are poisonous. Just because they go blue doesn't mean they are psychoactive.

The death cap leaves a white spore print and is easily recognisable and cant be mistaken for something like P.Subaeruginosa. Active mushrooms leave a brown/purple print, and some dangerous galerina's which look near identical leave a dark brown print, so the two can sometimes be confused.

You need to rely on more than just the spore colour and/or bluing to ID a mushroom. Especially if your hunting wood-lovers such as subs, as these are the ones that tend to get confused quite often.

I reckon a week from now some tassie person will post up some sub pics. I'm getting those shroom dreams again. Some big paches last night.

its 6am in melbourne, it rained all last night... i only got urban forrests but if there's anything sighted i'll post again :)

I still reckon another 2 weeks or so. The next week is still hovering in the 20's, and the mins are still around 14-15 which just isn't cold enough to shock the mycelium into growth.

More rain is also needed, the rain yesterday wouldn't be sufficient i dont think.

btw its fuckin freezing balls eskimo temperatures down here in hobart, fuckin lots of rain fuckin bollocks cold, so ima try head out this weekend between shifts and check to see if i can find some shroomy goodness

i'll pot back and let yas know

If we get the rain thats forecasted for Friday and Saturday (in melbourne) then i will put money on it that people will be finding mushrooms by late next week.

Fri
Chance of Rain
18° | 11°

Sat
Chance of Rain
15° | 11°

Sun
Cloudy
12° | 11°

Good temperatures, should shock the mycelium into growing. Now all we need is the rain..
