Movies and Drugs[MEGA MERGED]

Here's some suggestions:

action/adventure:
Donnie Darko
Fight Club
The Game
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (I wouldn't watch this on DOC, it's really weird)

comedy:
The Muppet Movie (the original one from 1979)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
 
I would say any of the mindfuck movies are a good choice... like Donnie Darko, Existenz, Run Lola Run, The Game, Adaptation, etc. But truely the best movie I've ever watched while tripping was The Incredibles, and no it wasn't my first time seeing it that time. It was so amazing, and I have a newfound appreciation of Pixar Studios.

Existenz is a close second though... there's something about that movie that makes me think it was designed specifically for us trippers, because I've seen it while tripping about 30 times, and it always is a different movie. I mean it. I'm thoroughly convinced that somehow Cronenburg is physically re-filming the movie and switching out my DVD before every new time I watch it. It's a crazy flick.

It really depends what kind of feel you want. Comedy would probably help keep you "up", while something too intense might fuk up yer trip, ya know?

Requium for a Dream and Spun might be fun too but I'd say skip watching a movie completely about drugs while on them, try something more creative than that.

If I watched Donnie Darko while tripping I'd probably go crazy!!!
 
If you like Donnie Darko, you should check out the website www.donniedarko.com and try and figure out all the riddles/puzzles, not to mention if you complete it, it helps you understand the movie more, but still allows you to think what you want about the ending.
 
Donnie Darko is the best
that movie is such a mind fuck, and its really trippy seeing that bunny rabit and the portals and trails he sees and how the movie goes into slowmo and stuff

I have to say Waking Life was amazing tripping. Now I just need to watch it again sober.

Linklater's new movie, A Scanner Darkly, might be fun to watch too while tripping but it's not quite as thought provoking as Waking Life.

I watched What the Bleep once while tripping, and there is some really good material in there, but there's also some BS that you have to sit through. The acting is almost painful to watch at some points. It's not nearly as good as Waking Life.
 
-waking life: might be tough to understand, there's ALOT of listening involved

-I <3 huckabees: visually very entertaining. content would really promote a philosophical discussion if watched in a group while tripping

-What the bleep do we know?: I actually liked this one. the visuals were more than enough to block out the bad acting. I'd watch this again mostly for the colors and animations =D
 
For me, I can see how the effects in most movies are done when I'm really high. So a great movie to watch, if this is the case with you as well, is Apollo 13. The scenes when they are weightless are performed in a plane dropping out of the sky to make them weightless, so it's not really an effect. I also really like the Pixar movies when high.
