Why would there be a limit to how many times you can shower a day ?
You can shower as many times as you want to, but shampoos and other shower products can damage your hair and skin.

Because, and i quote from doctor Dr. Richard Gallo : "Good bacteria are educating your own skin cells to make your own antibiotics and they produce their own antibiotics that kills off bad bacteria." However every time we shower, we kill these bacts. Which could have negative consequences on our skin. So I wanted to know what is the preferred limit of showers we can have each day without damaging our skin

Is showering 2 times per day the max times that I can shower?

Showering too much is bad for your skin - all that hot water and scrubbing would damage your top layer of skin. And because you're washing off your natural oils, your skin would get pretty dry. Unless there's some dire need to shower that often because of work, exercise, falling in mud, etc, I don't see why you'd bother.

it varies, if i am doing cold showers and running every day, ill shower every day

if i am not doing cold showers then i pretty much just dont shower, its boring to me

instead i take hot baths and listen to tunes %) womb comforts ftw

^im the same, i like a good soak in the bath as it ails my arthritic pains temporarily. a scoob and some ethereal tunes to top it.

currently without much use of my hand ive just been taking a shower every day or other, having to give good attemtion to the burn on the hand which i disinfect and change dressings b.d. im sitting around not doing much for the most. im letting myself go...

Once a day in the morning, and again later if I've been to the gym so I can wash my hair (long hair). I use some soap with no fragrance or any other stuff in it, use that on my armpits and front bits.. that's it. Just wash the rest of me with the water, no scrubbing or anything. And as a result I have amazingly soft skin ^_^

Yup.

I subscribe to this view and shower once a day only using soap on those parts of the body that get particularly smelly - arm pits, genitals, buttocks.

Once a day, sometimes I'll go a day without showering if I'm out swimming all day or something.

^yes absolutely. Im quite active and do a lot of exercising so not taking a shower is a no no

Once a day usually. Might skip one here or there but I'm usually taking mexican baths if I'm flat out, so I keep reasonably clean. I'm used to outdoor vagrant type living so a little dirt and body odour doesn't scare me. Unless its the local dirty hippy.

There is a lot of people I know that take a shower every 2 or 3 days. Specially women because of the hair. It´s like a cat bath.

^i prefer putting a shower cap than not showering for three days yikes!

The internal state of your body has a lot to do with how you smell, plus other factors like hair and genetics. The bacteria in your armpits consume your sweat and their excretions are what smell. The more contaminants in your body, the faster you will smell. It's kind of like if we eat garbage, our shit smells bad; well, when bacteria eat your sweat, if it's garbage then their shit will stink worse. My BO builds up a lot faster now that I eat meat regularly, compared to when I was a vegetarian. Maybe it's because meat creates more uric acid in the blood.

The other thing is that the more often you wash using soap, the more your sebum glands secrete oil to re-condition your skin and hair. A lot of people complain that their hair is way too oily so they wash daily, but really if they could suffer through an awkward break of about 1 week using only water (and maybe some vinegar to keep the scalp toned), their hair would require less washing.

Hair in general traps odor, which is why some people choose to trim / shave the problem areas. I think showering once a day is normal. In the winter time I don't really stink that much, but I just don't feel awake unless I shower when starting my day. It gets the blood flowing.

As for people who shower less regularly... most of the world does not shower daily. It's partly culture and partly economic. There are parts of the world where water is so precious that the idea of filling up a tub to bathe, or sit under water pouring over you would be absurd. Oil scraping and sand bathing are still common practices in many arid regions.

In the west, strict daily bathing came from the Romans, and then European colonialism spread the practice to their conquered lands.

True, great sum up. I have also noticed these sebum glands secreting oil to recondition. Specially for the hair and face. So you tend to shower even more often.

once in the morning if im working,
if im chillin at my girls for the weekend
we dont shower, we wash up after sex but for the most part no showers,
shes like i like your body odor , and i think she smells good all the time
weird guess says a lot about healthy eating ...

I call my stink "pain...t". when I'm having a hard time in life I usually stink.
