Ask your MP to support the Clean Up Barclays campaign
My name’s David and I’ve been an ActionAid supporter since the 1970s (really).
More recently I’ve been taking action to get Barclays bank to stop promoting the use of tax havens in Africa.
In fact, I’ve just arranged a meeting with my MP to ask him to support the campaign and increase the pressure on Barclays ahead of their annual shareholder meeting next month.
I know that it’s hard to find the time to meet with MPs, but I was hoping that you could help get your MP to speak out against Barclays by sending them an email?
>> Email your MP about Barclays’ misbehaviour in Africa
This process is really quick and easy. The website form will find your MP for you and even provide a template message to get you started.
I was delighted to learn that over 20,000 of us from across the world have already taken action to make the bank behave. With their AGM less than a month away, now is a the key time to influence the decisions that Barclays is making about its future.
We want MPs to raise the issue because the Government can play a vital role in holding Antony Jenkins to account for the behaviour of his bank. We also know that Barclays cares a great deal about its public image, and MPs speaking out could really hurt its reputation.
Once elected an MP should represent the interests of constituents.
By campaigning together we can have a real impact!
