Eminem discussion

I'm not really listen to that. It was kinda a Middle School or HS thing for me. Perhaps because my parents told me I couldn't listen to it. Now I WORSHIP rock music, new rock the most.
Personally I think he needs to just give it up already. He is getting old, we all know the story of his life. I don't wanna hear the same stories all the time...

Surely Pander will be merging this with my thread soon, but in regards to your question, I can't decide on a favorite tract yet. "Deja Vu", "Bagpipes From Baghdad", "Same Song & Dance" and "Hello" are all at the top of my list, though. As far as the whole album goes, IMO, this is the best work he's done yet. I would give it a 4.5/5. I also think "Relapse 2" might even be better.

agreed. I use to worship him as much 2oclockbeanfiend.2 does now...when I was 12... then I grew up as rap became shitty and now its metal for me.

I like "beautiful"(even though it's kinda cheesy), "same song and dance," and "underground."

All in all, the album is better than I expected it to be; listenable straight through. But if you're not a fan of his violent, misogynistic, and homophobic stuff, you wouldn't like it.

I'm not a huge eminem fan but I do love his old stuff so I had to check this album out. I must say that its a pretty sick album.. He really changed up his subject matter which really needed to be done. I'm so glad he isn't rapping about kim again. I really thought it was just decent at first, but after a few days I think its one of his best albums. The only draw back is the singles that were releases (Crack a Bottle, We Made You) were misleading compared to the rest of the album. I just found that he wasn't his best with the pop style beat, and it just sounded weak. The standouts tracks are Hello, 3am, Same Song and Dance, Stay Wide Awake. Strangely the best is the end of the album: Deja Vu, Beautiful, and Underground which has the craziest rhymes on the whole album, it's definitely my favorite.

As it appears, this individual you are speaking of (Eminem) or his alter-ego (still him) is, according to his own words:

A person who cannot handle drugs in a responsible manner

A pedophile (Miley Cyrus aka Hannah Montana is 16)

A person who speaks about killing his family members

Why would you idolize such an individual?

Or if you looked at why he might be saying these things you'd realize how genius it really is.

The fact that he mentions such vile crap so openly in his music takes all the power away from the words, and they become just more words. It's meant to be offensive to people that don't pick up on that.

Also don't talk shit if you don't know shit about art. Art is given meaning by the listener/viewer, not the artist, the fact that you're interpreting it as encouraging these acts rather than as satire is a reflection of your own thoughts, not Eminem's. There's no moral or immoral things in art, everything is just subject matter, morality is determined by the individual.

^ No disrespect to any of the other replies, everyone has the right to their own opinion, but THANK YOU! Hopefully the album sales reflect just how incredible this album is. I know I'll be gettin' my copy! And, yes, to whoever posted "I can't wait to see a picture of you holding the CD", expect it, there's only three days to go!

/up in the bathroom like he's bustin' a nap

Can anyone really say that Eminem has no talent? Whether or not you connect with his music (disgusted/interested) you can't deny that he is an incredible lyricist. (without a clue, what year is this? Here's a sword, body pierce with this.)

no, but arguing about whether he has no talent is setting the bar so low. I just think he's failed to mature, has an annoying flow, writes really straightforward lyrics, and is highly unlikable.

find "My Darling" and "Careful What You Wish For"...bonus tracks just leaked today
Thanks for the heads up.

You don't think he matured from Slim Shady to Encore?
Give an example of a rapper you think has matured. (Bonus points if it's a rapper that sold at least a couple million discs.)
The annoying flow and unlikeable descriptions are highly subjective.
As for the straight forward lyrics, I'd argue that the two rappers considered "the best ever" have more straight forward lyrics than him. :\
