Main feature of dins tonight was lemon and pepper 'flour dusted' yellow fin sole. Not had sole before I don't think. Not sure I'll rush to buy it again. Tasted fine - quite nice actually, slighlty sweet like cod - but not different enough to other white fish for me to get that excited about. Especially as they're a bit teeny compared to a meatier fish. Kinda like my feelings towards plaice - taste good but not much there to taste.

not really got the hang of cooking fish yet, only tried a couple of times, i think one time i tried oven baking it and it stuck to the foil despite being buttered, and the next time i tried frying it and it came to bits in the pan. Cant remember what species they were, just the cheapest white fish avilable pretty much.

I'm celebrating! Sirloin steak in pepper sauce with rosemary potatoes, Mediterranean veg, mushrooms and tomato. For pudding a custard slice and a cream and raspberry slice. Some nuts for nibbles.

Sounds proper nice. gotta love steak

people seem to be putting lots of effort into their meals. Im often just not interested or bothered about food, other than it being something to stop me being hungry when im in drug taking and smoking lots of nicotine mode. When i stop smoking, which i have again, it changes my whole outlook on food, its not just something to be rushed so i can have my next smoke asap, but something to take a bit of care and preparation over and to savour the taste of, if it happens to turn out good. Last night that only extended to chopping a few bits of fresh peppers on top of a cheese and tomato piza base, but its a start, i spose.

So basically no more effort than you then ? I'm a pretty good cook, so If I take x amount of hours cooking something that my partner (and/or I) will enjoy then I will - for me its not a chore, its a way to unwind, chill out etc.

That being said - Indian cooking tonight :) (photos will follow :D) (Get yourself a set of spices - there so cheap and just experiment)

I have a 'repertoire' of about 10 good meals i can do from scratch. Chicken stockpot stew had been a winter staple for the last few years, but i havent bothered with that once this winter. My eating has been poor, no wonder ive lacked physical toughness and resilience recently. The good thing is that that is quite easy to turn round, just by making a little bleedin effort.

I aint fussed about effort in meals at all, the nutrition vitamins and everything is mainly all i give a shit about. ill stick anything together as long as it tastes alright

^ Ha! Yes, we've noticed, Dan ;)

Just munched some Peach & Apricot Special K. The cereal not the novelty ketamine. Dried fruits can be a bit hit and miss and was a bit dubious about these but was cheap and am rather fond of Special K (both the cereal and the other version) so gave it a go. Really very tasty so it is. The peach in particular is actually quite hard to tell from fresh once it's been moistened 'n' milkified.

Dunno what to do for dins tonight. Got another stew 'n' dumplings planned but don't wanna start on making that cos am expecting to be somewhat anorexic for the next few days. Will go potter in a bit and see what jumps out at me.

Cheese, onion and herb 'melting middle' haddock cakes. Very tasty so they are. The fresh versions are better but they really are expensive so went with frozen. More toffee cake (as opposed to fudge cake as I seem to have thought it was last night) and ice cream for pud later. Have noticed that I've become quite big on foody treats of an eve since avoiding too much fuxxoration of a week. Not entirely sure if it really works out much better for me but not put on too much weight yet so quite happy to continue swapping puds for pints at the moment :D

Currently off diet mode, and munching on the following along with a bottle of cheap Tesco Cava

Best cheese ever.

Having a tuna mayonnaise baguette. I mixed up some colmans mustard with the t.m. to give it a bit of a kick, is nice, still put loads of black pepper on.

No sweetcorn in the house, which is wrong, tuna mayonnaise and sweetcorn is a perfect combo.

No sweetcorn in the house, which is wrong.
NO! It's very right. Sweetcorn is gross on everything, it's only acceptable to eat it fresh from the cob with butter.

Sweetcorn in stuff like sandwiches and pizza (especially the tinned stuff), is wretched, unless it's the non syrup, no added salt kind ... and even that's still essentially shameful food, unless you're starving.

frozen is equally as bad

ha :p

tinned sweetcorn is great on a pizza, especially tuna pizza, but it shines on a tuna mayonnaise roll or sandwich.

I don't eat a lot of sweetcorn and of course it's best on the cob with butter (and pepper!) but I was sad I had no tinned sweetcorn for my tuna and mayo. For a treat, a croissant with tuna, mayo and sweetcorn is sublime. That's pretty much how I fell in love with tuna, mayo and sweetcorn. I was working in a hospital and the shop had these croissants, I practically lived off them for six months.

Has to be a big, well-fired, nicely glazed croissant.

Had an amazing indian curry night the other night - looks like imageshack has just changed to 'paid only' so ....

looks even tastier than the old imageshack versions ;)

I love dal. Heaven is dal and freshly made chapatis. But I've never found any dal as good as my long-lost friend's mum from Pakistan made. Amazing lamb curries too.

imgur is a piece of piss, just drag and drop the image from a folder onto the web page, so easy.
