For everybody who is still struggling with an LTC...... Look into MERCURY POISONING!!!!!
ESPECIALLY if you took lipoic acid around the same time, which is commonly recommended.
There is a method of mdma synthesis called the aluminum reaction that involves mercury. The final product can be contaminated with mercury if not properly washed out. If you took alpha lipoic acid, like I did, at a time when you are exposed to any mercury in your body, lipoic acid can form a bond with the mercury and then allow it to cross the blood-brain barrier where it will deposit and cause absolutely debilitating symptoms. I have been struggling myself for about a year now. It has wrecked my life. A classic sign of mercury poisoning is the "head pressure" that everybody here talks about, and feeling like you have a tight band around your head.
I had the head pressure and nearly every other symptom people on here have been complaining about with the LTC's including muscle twitching, depersonalization, derealization, panic attacks, tingling and numbness on my nose / face, sinus issues (my sinuses got so swollen that they couldn't drain, and I needed surgery), itchy skin, food sensitivities (different from a typical food allergy), extremely debilitating brain fog and cognitive function, spaceyness, depression/emotional numbness, social withdrawl, severely increased allergies / itchy skin, chronic fatigue but feeling "wired" at the same time, insomnia, and more...
The best thing you can do for yourself is to start working with a functional medicine doctor.
They will map your genetics and see if you have any genetic variations that may inhibit your ability to excrete heavy metals. For example, a variation in MTHFR:A1298C has been shown to cause issues with heavy metal clearance. Ask for a genetic test through 23andMe and they will interpret it for you, and also a provoked mercury urine test. <---- this test is controversial as to it's usefulness amongst conventional medical establishment, but if it shows elevated mercury, and you treat for elevated mercury, and your symptoms improve, what more could you ask for? Most testing is extremely unreliable for a case of chronic mercury poisoning where it has integrated into your cells and tissues. It binds to spots on enzymes where beneficial metals like zinc would typically be, and makes the enzyme ineffective. This hinders your body's ability to do work.
I have been working with a functional medicine doctor, taking huge amounts of methylfolate and methylB12 daily, and have begun to slowly pull mercury out my body with chelation agents. My life has drastically tremendously since I figured out about mercury toxicity 3 months ago. Only 5 months ago I was in a pit of dispair about my LTC and thought my life was completely fucked with no way out. Now there is hope, and I am improving. If your LTC turns out to be mercury toxicity, it will still take a long time to get back to normal, but you can climb your way out of this mess. Don't get stuck on thinking you've done permanent damage.
A good resource on how to treat is to look into Dr. Chris Shade.
