Gibberings CXCIV: Come on, mods. Let's go wild with this.

Well I'm a short sighted cunt yeh, but at least they're not popping out on stalks (well, not this weekend anyway)..

I think Zack Wylde or whatever his fuckin name was, was a guitarist with Ozzy Osbourne, possibly 'Blizzard of Oz'?, but tbh I lost interest after Ozzy left Sabbath..
Could be, like I say I know the name but can't be arsed to google, so after Randy Rhodes?

i suppose its better than their diamond studded prince albert being bitten off and left on the pavement

Same mob as previous? If so good on them, parked up there for a couple of days, but the whole vibe was a bit too Tom and Barbara for us.

There's some genuinely good people there and I get a bit pissed off with the "trustafarian" jibes they get aimed at them. Although that's definitely true of a few of them, who no doubt move on quickly anyway, there some good people who have been there 20-30 years and live a harsh life most people couldn't stand. Lets face it, it's built in a valley that is cloaked in fog for about 270 days a year with rainfall to match.

It's certainly not a romantic life and quite divorced from Felicity Kendall. They get treated like shit in town by the locals and put up with it stoically. They also have decent drugs (and get raided regularly). Yeah, I stick up for them.

Like I say fair play, its no easy life by any means and I know the law has tried everything to get rid, we just found it a bit restrictive, their gaff their rules so we moved on. We were more hedonistic than idealistic.

Yeah don't get me wrong Warrior, it's not my vibe either, but the way I see them treated around town...I'll always be on their side than the fucking ignorant townies from round here.

What does 'trustafarian' mean? I'm guessing its a dig at middle class hippies with trust funds who can afford to have 'ideals'...

Yeah that basically. But it's also because a lot of them move on pretty quickly once they've dipped their toe in the water and found it too cold. Likesay, that definitely applies to some at Tipi valley who probably fuck off and become financial advisors (whatever) two years later. But also, like I said, there are people there who have lived there 20 years or more. Committed. I'm always giving them lifts because the road there passes my house and a lot of them walk the three/four miles into town. And I've given lifts to some nice people, as well as the odd dickhead.

I have the utmost respect for those that can hack it - I know I couldn't, even though I'd love to try it. Unfortunately I haven't got the balls...

Most of the ones I know that stayed on the road ended up in Spain, spoke to them a couple of years back, they'd bought some stupid amount of land at a pittance in the hinterlands. Said it was idyllic at first, they were growing food and cash, but they were thinking of moving back. It got very lawless in the remote areas and a hell of a lot of crops, fine if you can slip plod a sweetner (there is next to no income where they are) but if you aren't connected, be it Gypsy, biker, whoever else has muscle basically you are fucked and these were not the sort of people to carry.

God knows what its like out there now or if they are still there.

I might be wrong and I'm certainly no expert but I know of a couple of places, one in Portugal, one in Lanzarote, where some hippies (multicultural, or at least from multiple European nations) have made things work growing, er, crops. The Portuguese commune I know for sure is still going, the Lanzarote one was going up until 2-3 years ago for sure. I don't think they've had the hassle you allude to Warrior but likesay, could be wrong, not totally up to date with the Spanish crew. All too easy to be believe on mainland Spain for sure. Both were/are in the mountains.

Good to hear SHM, communes could be the way forward, depending on how manipulative the 'Management' is. (I only speak of the very few i've visited)

As for the people I know in Spain, sadly that's the nature of the biz these days, you deal with large amounts of cash or the equivalent, unless you protect it, bigger boys will have it.

Brilliant long weekend, happy days =D quite messy, feeling proper groggy.. hoping next week isnt gonna be a struggle

For the attention of another knobber of a mod here:

I'm sure Marmalade would see the funny side in my posting, unlike you who likes to infract people by saying 'lighten up', which was the only reason for posting it.
This isn't the first time you don't see the funny side in things...
