Gibberings CLXXVIII - Too skanky for your tastes?

Yeah, she seems to be doing okay now.. it seems to be a case of throwing a lot of antibiotics at it. Apparently the tests they do to check for Lyme aren't very reliable so often miss it. Makes me a bit paranoid about ticks when I'm out walking, anyway. :sus:

And to be fair, I've had a lot of crap experiences with doctors, and that's not because they think I'm a degenerate scumbag.. it's just lack of interest, I think. :/

im afraid of ticks precisely because of this bug... the antibiotics arent a walk in the park either, and lymes can translate to long term neruological probs iirc.

some doctors are crap indeed... some are overworked and swamped with stuff to do too.

Yeah, Scotland has different licensing laws, with the stated objective of "improving public health" being part of them.

In England and Wales it's theoretically possible to get a 24-hour-licence, but in practice it's more restricted than that due to local by-laws, and very few retailers have pursued one.

Anybody with extensive experience of the culture of the 3am offy will perhaps understand why.

Wut? Scotland has had 24 hour boozers since forever and 24 hour booze shops are everywhere in England now.

All I know is all the supermarkets won't sell before 10am... I've never felt the need to go for alcohol early in the morning so couldn't comment on other shops selling alcohol.

Aye there's fuck all wrong with me really......I'm just lazy haha!!
Incidentally a mate of mine was diagnosed with CFS (or ME as it was known then) and turned out he had a brain tumour. I think it is kind of a diagnosis of exclusion where they have no clue what's the matter with you and put it down to that as there are no real tests or cures associated with it. Plus for a lot of people simply having a confirmed diagnosis to attribute the fact that they know they are unwell can be somewhat comforting...... Although I'd be a bit pissed off if I was told it was CFS and it turned out to be Lyme disease or a fucking bring tumour!!!.

Going for a nice walk down by the river in me lunch break......should sort me right out!!

Also my local corner shop/post office sells booze from the minute they open at 6:30am (although they probably arnt meant to).....its quite funny to see the queue for the cash machine turn into the queue for the checkout with people clutching a four pack of Tennant's Super or whatever when I go for my paper at 6:30 before work.

The Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 governs the hours in which we are able to sell alcohol in Scotland. The act states that alcohol can be sold between the hours of 10am and 10pm. Some stores may have further restrictions, namely that alcohol can only be sold on a Sunday between the hours of 12:30pm and 10pm.

You must be visiting an unusually liberal part of Scotland, or else you're confusing lock-ins with legal trade.

I don't know about England, but here in Manchester, 24-hour booze shops are definitely not everywhere.

Really? That must be a mancunian thing, where I can imagine it probably is for the best :)

Oh aye, without doubt. :D

There was a short period around 2007 / 2008 where supermarkets and even the odd offy experimented, but it either wasn't profitable or they became havens for pimps, whores, crackheads and people like me, and thus a police problem. So the council clamped down on it.

A few pubs and clubs have attempted similar, but with Manchester's gang scene being the way it is, the only establishment that was ever able to do 24-hour opening properly, let alone 24-hour licensing, was Jilly's, and that's because it was protected by a biker gang whom not even the Gooch in their prime would consider fucking with. If you'd ever seen 'em, you'd know why.

The Gay Village is possibly the only viable after-hours option.

After some advice here folks...

So... im desperately trying to give the smack up, ive methadone to do a short taper, not the most ideal tool but my habits not big and ive done it before.

My problem being is that i cant get anytime off work so im constantly feeling rough, i can cope with the sweats and even aches, its the lack of energy that kills me as ive a physical job. I get so far, 4 days or so and i crumble and buy some gear. Is there a mild stim that i could take to perk me up, or would that just exasperate the other symptoms like say, caffeine does?

It can't show up as an amphetamine on a 5 panel drug test either?

Whatcha reckon? Any hope or no hope?

Edit... 24hour booze can be had at Safeburys on the hagley road in brum, if you're desperate and fancy a drive ;)

In my experience of running out early......caffeine pills (the only stim I'd tried) made things 1000 times worse. Just about the only thing that remotely helped me was pregabalin and lope.

The lack of energy when wd-ing is a total bastard when trying to work like......even an office job is unmanageable (for me anyway)

Round my way, Wales, supermarkets can't sell alcohol before 8am. Believe me I've tried...

Must make you feel like a naughty school child, all that booze on display, but you're not allowed out the door with it. I feel for you I really do.

Shit people ruin all the fun. Living in a place like Manc, and it being a shitter to get booze after hours is ridiculous. Nothing better than getting that bottle of spirits to round of that session is there. What do you resort to then, do you have to use those ridiculously expensive booze delivery services?
