Got pork loin 'n' cannellini bean curry cooking but was starving so just nommed half of a "Truly Irresistible" slow roasted tomato mozzarella tart (or what some may call a cheese, onion and tomato quiche). Was in the reduced bin ferra quid and was really bloody tasty. Curry smells lushy as fuck but is gonna take a while to cook.

Potato Gnocchi with an Aubergine sauce - Thankfully it tasted better than it looked (the grated cheese all over the bowl doesn't help :D)

I've somehow managed to never have had gnocchi. I have no idea why cos I've always fancied 'em. Just never gotten around to trying to make any. And don't worry about how it looks, Bear. That looks ridiculously scrummy to me - meltygrateycheesebowls ftmfw <3

Lunch consisted of haddock fishcake (38p for two =D) in Scotch rolls wiv lemon mayo and watercress. Was quite yum.

I just got soooooo many bargains at Co-Op it's plain silly. Must've gotten at least a week's worth of dins stuffs (quite probably more) for just under seven quid. Am now defrosting me freezer flap in the vain hope I can actually fit it all in. Otherwise I'll have to be on two dins a day for the next day or two :D

Bearlove are you a professional cook? or professional photographer
You are wasting your life if you are not one of these two :)

All I have had today is a bunch of Banana's as they are nice and ripe and spotty and sweet and will be rotting by tommorow
Washed down with Westons vintage 8.2% :)

I don't know why I don't make them more often tbh, they make a great change from the usual pasta etc. Fishcake sandwiches sound great especially with the lemon Mayo and watercress (sounds well fancy) - I made double my normal fishcakes the last time so I have a stock of them in the freezer (along with curry and Daal). I would be lost without my freezer so I hope you get yours defrosted so you can stash away your bargains - you might even find some of your last bargains at the back :D.

I agree that most dishes cooked in a bowl with melted cheese over it just makes you feel good from the get go.

Haha, no but thanks for the compliment -cooking and photography are just two of my hobbies. Banana's n cider sound like a strange combination?

Ya. I really should have a crack at gnocchi sometimes cos seems simple enough and have always had a hankering after 'em.

Fishcake sarnies are lush (not quite as good as fish finger sarnies though). Lemon mayo was only Hellman's (reduced to 75p) and watercress was one of those kismetic moments when you buy lotsa stuff wot could really do wiv some kinda leafy matter astride it and watercress happened to be going cheap. Is about as fancy as I get at the moment ;)

As for freezer, no exciting buried treasure cos I've only got one of those silly lil flaps at the top of me fridge so can barely fit owt in it anyway let alone lose anything. However, I did find one curious item encased in ice at the back. A daddy longlegs. How very odd. Decided against using it as seasoning though :D

In dins news, just munched chooky fanjitas wiv a coupla lomticks of tatty tortilla on the side (wiv usual salsa, sour cream, salady gubbing to accompany). Was really quite good considering. Some of those new Co-Op Tex-Mex stuffs ain't half bad for supermarket slop.

^get it cooked - Failing that store it in Amber and keep until you get your cloning technique sorted out :D.

I made .... Beans on toast :D (broad beans, peas, mint, Parmesan) - I also made a roast Aubergine salad thing (Baba Ganoush ?) which went on toast also. For the main I made a spicy butternut squash ravioli and topped that with a burnt butter, onion and Walnut dressing (as you do). (The over cooking of the onions was intentional as we really enjoy the bitter taste of them when paired up with something sweet like squash)

I don't usually get especially excited about veggie stuff but that looks bloody lovely, Bear =D

Not convinced about burnt onions yet though. Have seen you do 'em that way quite often but am not a fan of burnt onions. However, I've never deliberately burnt 'em and used 'em as topping and can kindasorta see how that would work. Especially on summat quite sweet. I could possibly be persuaded...

I wonder how best to cook a daddy long legs? Not much meat on 'em really. Perhaps I should be inspired by your burnt onions and fry it in hot oil and use it as a nice crunchy topping?

^honestly Shambles you could skip the onions (or simply brown them) and just brown/burn some butter and throw in the walnuts and it would work just as nice. We both enjoy burnt onions (and garlic), it's really bitter but we enjoy the contrast when served with something sweet like this :). I can highly recommend the beans thing - I used frozen beans/peas - mashed them with some raw garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, mint etc

Beans on toast has never looked so sexy.

Your food Pron gets me everytime Bearlove :)

I like to melt stilton on beans on toast, lush combo <3

looks delicious bearlove.

^swap you my beans on toast for that-looks gorgeous. (That broad bean paste thing I made the other day - the following day I had it on thick toast with tuna).

ah much better levels ;) I'm really enjoying having a herb garden at the moment, the most mundane things suddenly become really nice to eat with handfuls of fresh herbs.

broad bean tapenade? sounds good.

Broad beans, peas, garlic, mash them all up then mix in mint, parsley grated Parmesan, olive oil and Lemon juice.

(nah it was the white boxes that got me :D - did the levels, brightness, hue and saturation when I was at it [proprananol taken to calm me down])

I would love a herb garden - I grew some Mung Beans/sprouts the other day and that was an achievement for me.
