Anyone seen this? Some lucky, lucky, bastards in Ireland have been included in the first 2,000 people to get a universal basic income of £1600 - with no strings attached.

Get £1600 a month to do ‘nothing’ – welcome to an AI future where nobody works
As concerns grow over AI surpassing human abilities within two to three years. Polly Dunbar explores whether universal basic income could be the solution in a world without traditional jobswww.independent.co.uk
"If backed, the first English pilot would see thirty people in Jarrow in the North East and East Finchley in north London be given £1600 a month to see what effect it has on their mental and physical health, as well as whether they choose to work or not."
Well Durh, I strongly suspect the answer to all of those questions is a no brainer. People will actually get all the sleep they need, and have the time and money to cook and eat properly and to exercise and to socialise with who they choose, and to pursue their interests. And have the time and energy available to get their home organised, regularly cleaned, and maintained etc. How could that be anything but a positive thing for the vast majority of people and their mental and physical health?
"Proponents, who include Manchester’s mayor Andy Burnham, argue that it is a practical solution to the challenges of the modern world, and that it could ultimately save governments money by reducing social ills."
Bring it on Mr Burnham, I'd actually, genuinely, vote for you for ever if you did!
