Why do GOV do not Legalize Ectstasy?

I doubt these fantasy pills of yours would be as strong as the pills bought on the street or at raves, but you never know, and i don't think we ever will.

I believe the Avg. street pill is around 90mg MDMA. If it were legal you would be able to buy it in various dosages ranging from 20mg-150mg I would assume. I don't see why you think this would be a fantasy. If they only sold 45mg pills people would just take 3 at once.

I have extremely strong views on this topic, I think that ALL drugs should be made legal, regardless of neurotoxicity or other damaging effects. I think what I, a consenting adult, put into my body should be my decision. I am definitely not a believer of "self help" laws.

I also have to disagree with Delta. I don't understand why you think that large pharmaceutical companies would mass producing mdma tablets of poor quality. What would be the incentive to do that? Think about it, what if alcohol companies began making making alcohol that contained a fraction of the dose that it does now? Who would buy a bottle of alcohol that contained a half a percent? The same would go for mdma, I think that a lot of people wouldn't use if they had to buy 10 pills+ just to get a high.

I definitely don't think the legality issues we are faced with today have anything to do with the government worried about the pharmaceutical companies producing crappy pills. 8(

Bauer: You are spot on! :) I especially agree with your point of ability does not equal your right.

I totally agree! What gives some jumped up politician the right to decide what I should do. Anyways drugs aren't the problem its the idiots who don't know how to use them and do stupid things. Quite honestly if heroin were legal I wouldn't try it. There are lots of drugs I wouldn't go near. LSD, dope I can't stand that stuff. I don't drink hard liquor but I like wine and I'm not a drunk.

Its like alcoholics...drug ABUSERS are the problem. Those people are self destructive so I say let them get on with it. Don't ban things for the general public. Prohibiton didn't work did it?

Liquor causes enough damage, just think about how shitty your country would be with Meth addicts, dope fiends, People tripping on PCP. Crime rates would sky rocket. And think about how easy dumb teens could get addicting and destructive drugs. Theres so many reasons why all drugs shouldnt be legalized and only one argument for the other side, "your rights". Stop thinking about yourself and think for the people who are to dumb to know the dangers of abuse and signs of dependency. People who want everything legal are dumb... Drugs being illegal won't lead to socialism ;)

Prohibition in it's current form doesn't work either. Look at every single person who obtains and ingests an illegal substance.
It works to some extent. Think about how many people would use after its legalized.

admitting that everything they have been "preaching" is discredited
not only that but; admitting that everyone (millions) they have put in jail was a "mistake" !

I totally and completely disagree with you. People will not automatically begin using drugs just because they are legal. Alcohol is legal...how come everyone isn't an alcoholic? Nicotine is legal...how come everyone isn't a chain smoker? Prohbition does not work at all, banning a substance does not make it less attainable.

I for one, have never used heroin for example, if it was made legal tomorrow that would NOT make me run out and use it and there are a lot more drugs that I would not use just because they were made legal. I don't think that other people who might enjoy them should have to be penalized for indulging in something they enjoy because you think it would be "uncivilized". Also, does everyone who drinks automatically go out and cause chaos in public? How many people sit quietly at home and drink what the please.

If people are going to use they are going to use, legality is a non issue. How many teenagers are there out there right now who are using addictive drugs already? How many meth addicts are running around already? Legality does not stop people who want to use the drug from getting it, and it also does not stop people who want to "try" the drug from getting it. People who don't want to use drugs simply don't.

I am also definitely not dumb by any stretch of the imagination. You don't have to agree with my opinion but I do ask that you disagree politely. Name calling is rather childish.

well, there not like addicting, or destructive.

Why would you want them legal if you dont use them. I see the whole "rights" argument as "I don't want any rules"

I would want to make them legal because there is a large part of the population that uses these drugs responsibly and doesn't hurt anyone in the process. Who is the government, or anyone else for that matter, in any position to say that those people are "bad"? Not every drug user is a reckless junkie and it's completely unfair to generalize.

I want them legal because I believe in freedom of choice. What I do to my own body should be my own decision as an adult. My ideas about "self help" laws don't just stop at drug legalization, another example would be seat belt and motorcycle helmet laws. I don't believe that the government should tell me that I have to wear a seatbelt (even though I do willingly) or wear a helmet when I ride a motorcycle (which again, I do willingly)

So, I have provided a plethora of examples of why I think drugs should be legal, but you have done very little to prove your point. I would like you to please elaborate.

^I ment drug rights. I'm too tired to think of a response butterfly I'll post a thread in Drug Culture "Should All Drugs Be Legalized?" cause I would like to continue later.

The problem with legalising all drugs is that there is no way of stopping those who shouldnt be using them from doing so.

Currently if you dont have the know how of how to find them then you cant do them.

Whether we like it or not, part of the governments job is to protect people from themselves.

I suspect that marijuana and probably mdma will be legalised in the future if enough studies are done first but drugs such as meth and H for example should not ever be legalised IMO...........if you want to use them then you can do that now..........no need to make them freely available to everyone complete with advertising etc.

I always thought they should implement some sort of Drug-Education course. You would pay and attend a 2 week course on each drug, at the end of each course you would get the privileged of being able to buy personal amounts of that drug from your local drug store. (some sort of Drug-ID card?)

Only problem with this is that people could still buy other people drugs, and it would be hard to limit a "personal amount" as everyone is different. I would consider 10 pills a personal amount for a good night, however a lot of people in America don't take that in a year :-P

The drug store would also be able to keep an eye on you to make sure you don't get addicted. (yeah I've thought about this a lot while pilled lol)

If they legalised alot of drugs I assume they would also feed alot of the tax dollars these drugs would no doubt be raking in (I assume they would be getting taxed like alcohol and tobacco), into provention programs for at risk groups.

Didn't a scandenavian (or another country around that general area) country trial legalising herion? you went to your doc, said your a junkie and got a prescription for it. Every morning on the way to work/school/whatever you'd go get your hit. This removes the social stigma attached to this drug and lead to alot of social problems associated with it halving or something. There is no reason why you can't shoot up heroin and not be a productive member of society. Alot of top company managers and musicians are junkies.

Dont get me started on ice. If anyone has any suggestions on how to deal with addicted mates who end up when theyre coming down (other than a shot gun or a well aimed punch before they can start) turn on you I'm all ears.

Depending on where you live alot of those drugs are already readily available. Legalising just stops making criminals out of people having it in possession. committing crime still is a differant story.
