^ I'm with you on the 40c thing, I've actually travelled to Tassie just to get away from it and bushfire smoke a few years ago. It's nice in WA atm, but can have its moments here

My Dad has dementia too, and he often mistakes me for my sister, still not sure how to react to that one XD

can definately relate to the moving house shit. It took me 5 days to tidy up my two bedroom apartment (well didn't spend the full five days doing it but say spent 4 hours a day). Anyway, my housemate did fuck all but do a quick clean of his room. I had to hire a cleaner to get stuff done properly because he didn't help with a thing. And then he drops that he is going to be overseas until halfway through next month so won't be able to sign the form for the bond until he gets back. fucking cunt. could really use that bond money too.

Yes the human brain is amazing but for fucks sake it doesn't mean that it must have been 'designed', I know it's seems easier to just go with the 'design' option because thinking or spending 10 minutes doing some research is hard and cuts into your facebook time - life has had 3.5 billion years practice to get the human brain right you fucking chimp. Also how can you possibly believe in spirits when you have done zero research on the subject and have no proof other than some bullshit anecdote your pee-brained aunt has about seeing a ghost and the fact that your equally moronic friends all agree, out of a want to cement friendly bonds, that they exist because they too have bullshit hearsay anecdotal 'evidence'. hey dont mock reincarnation im a firm believer in it always have been as long as i can rember.i do how ever believe in evolution.maybe evolution is the answer to how and not why?there has to be some sort of god/creator we cant be just a fluke chance.i went to a heavily religious highschool (worst education in our town wasnt even on the list of schools for the education rating thingy)and being told all day every day that evolution is a lie and wrong you kinda get used to it.we got taught fucking bible instead of history!ask the teacher about region thats too hard for them to answer they always say "why dont you ask god about that" maybe cus that voice in my head is my conscious not fucking god you 40 year old retard!

im a firm beliver in spirits/ghosts too ouija board are the real fucking deal and i dont give a shit what you think about them.when i was 13-15 we had some really crazy shit happen in our house after using a ouija board after contacting a spirit that went by "que" we all started seeing flash's on the wall (almost like somone was taking a photo but it was condensed into a line.it was bright enough to light up my whole room or the hallway.heard my name being called one night witch was the worst part for me "it knows my name fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccccckkkkkk :O" and not just me who had experiences like this.my dad was held down in his bed unable to move until what ever it was let him go.my dad dosnt scare easy but he came n woke me up n was white as a ghost (pun not intended) and was shitting himself.once we moved activity slowed down but didint stop ( only moved a few blocks from our original house) for the first 2-3 weeks of living in that house the front door would go wild like somone had grabbed the doorknob from the other and started shaking the door violently.this continued until me and my dad sat up aall night in the lounge waiting for it to happen (at one point we thought it was kids trying to fuck with us) it did start happening so we crept up to the door very quietly me with a machete and my dad with a can of pepper spray.ripped the door open pretty much while the door was shaking and no one was on the other side.ran out on the drive way to look for kids but it was dead.most this creepy shit seemed to happen at 3:15am.
some strange things have just started up in our new house i've seen a flash and heard someone walking around in the dining room at 3:15am thinking it was my dad walked in there to find no one and a super creepy feeling like someone was standing right behind me.im realllllly hoping it dosnt pick up and isnt attached to me or my dad cus that seems to be whats going on/do youself a favor if your thinking of using a ouija board DONT DO IT your just asking for trouble.also theres this really good blog (if i can find it i'll post it) about this supposed haunted jew box ( i cant rember the name)this skeptic read about it and decided to buy it and write a blog on it within a couple of weeks everyone in the house started getting very sick and the bloke that baught the box hair started falling out.i saw this on a show called paranormal witness,then read up on it on the net very intersting :)

Junkie do you have any evidence for believing in reincarnation or have you just decided that it sounds nice? And by evidence I don't mean reading articles and books by pseudo scientists who's 'evidence' has no grounding in the fundamental principles of the scientific method - I mean peer reviewed scientific papers that do follow the scientific method that can be replicated by anyone wanting to test the theory. I personally have researched reincarnation (my girlfriends mum is a Buddhist nun and we have some extremely heated arguments on what is and isn't total bullshit - example homeopathy {bullshit} ) and despite the fact many people do believe in reincarnation there is zero proper evidence to prove its existence and a hell of a lot of evidence proving it is in fact a load of nonsense.

As for oiuja boards the same applies, no scientific proof whatsoever. It seems you have fallen into the correlation implies causality trap, and the anecdotal evidence you've provided, while interesting is of no factual relevance at all. Come on man, put your loosely held beliefs aside and think objectively about the subject, no one who genuinely checks out these matters can possibly take them seriously.

And while I have no real issue with agnosticism the idea of there being a 'creator' for life on earth holds weak against the more sound theory's of life being a natural process of the universe when conditions are right, I guarantee that if you spend 30 min checking out what even Wikipedia has to say on these matters you will start to doubt the beliefs you hold so far.

You dad being held down by something, a spirit or whatever, is again intriguing but it seems far more likely that he was suffering from sleep paralysis, I've had the same thing happen to me several times and I have to admit in my semi-conscious state it was often extremely alarming and on one occasion especially I did feel as though I had been tied down by 'something' but these kinds of phenomenon are very common with sleep paralysis, many scientists belief that sleep paralysis is the cause of many people's 'abducted by aliens' fantasies. Again give Wikipedia a look and maybe follow some of the sources which should guide you to some serious investigation on the subject.

I'm not having a serious dig at you man I'm just saying that it's easy to try to explain strange and confusing experiences by putting them down to the paranormal or pseudo scientific explaination. An example I can give is this: if you showed a medieval man a plane or an appliance or device that uses electricity he would rationalise as being 'magic' of some kind because he knows no better - yet we know its not because of the evolution and progression of our understanding of the world and what we are now capable of creating and understanding.

As for the paranormal activity going on in your house - I can't disprove it but in the end it is just anecdotal evidence and because of my firmly held atheistic beliefs I can't hold them to be true. Is there any chance you guys were high at the time or something? I'm not calling you a liar I'm just saying there is probably a better explanation than ghosts or spirits. We don't understand everything about how the world or the universe works and there are many things science either can't explain or doesn't have the ability to be able to even test but if you do believe in the laws of the universe then the idea of it being caused by paranormal activity just doesn't satisfy.

Again sorry, I'm not trying to be a dick and I know I'm being uppity and condescending but I think if you spend some time checking this stuff out your opinions on this kind of stuff will change quite drastically and it could change your whole outlook and personally its something I love to see in people, the power of logical, reasonable thought and consideration is a beautiful beautiful thing.
 
no offense taken at all mate i found your post very interesting and have alot of solid points, i mean no offense to you as well :) and me and my friends always tend to get on this subject when we are on mdma (my 3 closest mates all believe in something different religions 1 an atheist 1 a firm but loose christian the other undecided and me pretty much Buddhist if you wanna put a name on it.) short answer no i dont have any SOLID evidence that i could send you a link to or copy n paste into here but i've had alot of first hand experiences with high dose LSD combined with high doses of NN-DMT.i know i know they could just be "thoughts" bought on by the drugs but i firmly belive that the places we go on high dose pychs has somthing to do with the place we go once we die.its nothing i can proove.it all comes down to a matter of belief.you cant honistly tell me that you think once we die thats it? i mean we all have energy/souls what ever u wanna call em.where does that energy go once we pass on? it cant just disappear can it?
and no these events in my old house were witnessed by not just me and my dad but my step sister and step mum also alot of our friends saw it too and couldn't explain it.this was when i only used weed so i dont think it would be the cause of me seeing flash's lighting up rooms and hearing my name called.it is possible but very unlikely.i've spoken to my dad about sleep paralysis and we are both well aware of it.what he tells me is he just got into bed turned over and saw somthing block out the light from our computer then within seconds he felt himself being pushed down into the bed.the bed was actually compressed and takes a fair bit of force to push that bed down.not saying its not sleep paralysis but im not saying its not somthing paranormal.theres LOTS of things we dont that exist.as i said it all comes down to a matter of faith in what you believe and i have seen enough first hand evidence to say confidently that there is some sort of paranormal activity in that house.we've even had phone calls from the new buyer asking if we had experienced anything odd in the house before we moved.as for the reincarnation i cant really give you a answer i cant tell you what waits for us after death but i STRONGLY believe that there is a whooooooooooooloe lot more to "life" than we realize.i like the thought of karma and hey if it turns out to be bullshit im still happy cus i've done the right things in my life (sure we've all done things we regret but i've lived my life in a possessive way and like to think i've had a possessive effect on the people around me) its like your asking me for solid evidence that love exists is it just a word that humans have for attraction or is it somthing stronger than that :)

I love these kinds of debate and of course no offence taken. I'm about to hit the hay but I'll reply further tomorrow. What I will say is no I don't believe in anything after death, the natural process of life is what 'created' us (I.e 3.5 billion years of evolution) and I firmly believe that when you die that is it. I also don't believe in a soul or some kind of psychic energy, the 'soul' I would describe as consciousness which is a product of our evolution. Hominids evolved consciousness (specifically homo sapiens) through natural selection, that is due to a random mutation one or more of our ancestors benefited from this slight mutation that endowed them with the power of introspection, the ability to think ahead and plan and the ability to rationalise on past events which gave this certain 'person' or 'persons' a slight advantage over their contemporaries which meant they were the 'fittest' in their gene pool which in turn allowed them to survive more successfully, reproduce and pass on the specific mutation to their offspring which in turn had a slight advantage and passed it on to their offspring and so and so forth. Consciousness to me is nothing more than an evolutionary trait that gave homo sapiens an advantage and made us 'fitter' than other hominids and animals which is why we are the most advanced and successful species on the planet. All this belief in spirits and psychic powers is a by-product of consciousness - its part of humans natural want to make sense of their surroundings and existence. So when you say 'where does the soul or energy go' I would say it doesn't go anywhere because it doesn't exist in the form you describe, what I gather from your question is you are naturally trying to make sense of your existence - consciousness is part of the normal function of the human brain and when the brain dies so does the process of consciousness.

all that aside you say u believe the big bang is what started EVERYTHING.what caused the big bang?how does somthing come out of nothing?i too believe that the big bang started it all but somthing (a creator/god) has to be responsable to create somthing out what we assume is nothing :)

If a 'creator' created the big bang then who or what created the creator? I have no idea what started the big bang, I don't think many people if anyone at all truly understands it, I don't even know if the big bang happened, it's just the best theory we have so far. What i think is this: the human brain is the most amazing, advanced, complex thing in the known universe and I think it's both a cop-out and a crying shame to have use of something so incredible and instead of using it to try to solve the mysteries of the universe we settle for 2000 year old explainations and ideas like there being a creator or ghosts must be responsible for the things we can't explain simply because it's easy or convenient. If there was a creator who designed the human brain (which there isn't) they would be pretty disappointed in what many of us are doing with ours. Personally I'm shocked at how few people have any kind of grasp of the knowledge we have earned so far. The amount of bullshit people believe is mind blowing.

as the catholics preach, if we are indeed made in gods image, then i take that as each and everyone of us is dog...us dog need to lace up our boots and take responsibility for our own thoughts and actions and the way we live our lives. why do we need to serve or to follow, we all know what is right and what is wrong / good and bad

Weather forecasts.

In Sydney at the moment you can go on the BOM website, and say it says "22 degrees, cloudy, 70% rain, thunderstorms", you can GUARANTEE it will end up being "30 degrees, perfectly clear, absolutely no rain".

And this isn't like a once of, it's every day they stuff it up.

You would get better weather forecasts from a Ouija board.

I thought it was just me who thought they were retarded, but then the German guy who I'm living with said the other day: "man there's no point in looking at the weather predictions here, they're always completely wrong."
