What do you put in your cereal/oatmeal?

What is oatmeal? Is that the American for porridge or is it something else? I like dates in my porridge. 3 small-medium dates, Or one of those huge juicy delicious ones you can only get at the end of ramadan, I put them in before microwaving, then they go all gooey and yummy inside the porridge when it cooks.... yum.

All three of the above are excitotoxins, just like MSG! Please throw that poison away!

EXCITOTOXINS: The Taste That Kills

Sweet Misery - A Poisoned World

If you think that's propaganda, look into the history of Aspartame. They had to sack the then FDA president and appoint one of their own in order to get that poison passed. The man in charge of the company which developed Aspartame back then? Rumsfeld, of the "WMDs in Iraq" fame.

Much much more on the subject, so please do reading and watching and ditch that stuff!

I think you're a little bit crazy. Dextrose is totally not a toxin. Table sugar is 50% dextrose. Maltodextrin is also benign. Aspartame is in everything, I wouldn't freak out about that either people would be dying left right and center if it was dangerous. You make sweeteners sound like cigarettes times 100 or something, y'all are paranoid.

When I hear the word porridge, it reminds me of that fairy tale you heard as a kid,...was it little red riding hood??

Anyways, I believe they're very similiar.

I like mixing yogurt, raisins, banana, strawberries, blueberries, or cranberries with my oatmeal. Just have to watch your sugar with some options.

Cigarettes were once good for you too. DDT wasn't all that bad either. LOL

Cumulative is the key word here. You may not see people dropping like flies after first dose of any of these and each person may be affected differently, but please do a bit of research on excitotoxins, their introductions into the food chain and illness charts thereafter, as well as the related research of what effect these excitotoxins have on the brain and immune system.

Yeah, aspartame is terrible for you. The fact that its in everything isn't a testament to its safety, its a testament to our stupidity.

I think it was the one where the girl sat on a stump eating smashed spiders. Isn't that what porridge is?

^^ little miss muppet, and no she was eating curds and whey.... if you want to get curds and whey pour lemon juice into a glass of milk, stir, and watch :D

porridge = cooked rolled with water/milk. very tasty with honey or brown/raw sugar!

I usually don't eat breakfast cereal, but cereals(non gluten), grains, and nuts are a big staple of my diet. :D

Ugh, don't even get me started on aspartame, I'll be typing all night lol. All you guys need to know is avoid it. :)

This is so disappointing! I went to "Sams Club", and bought a huge thing of "Quaker Oatmeal". It has Maple and Brown Sugar, Apples and Cinnamon, Cinnamon Roll, and Original. The thing that sucks I get overwhelmed with all the flavors. I debate if I'm in a apples n cinnamon mood or a maple n brown sugar, and end up not eating because I cant make up my mind.
:(

And whats this with "aspartame". Does it make you sick? I'm sure since the government banned candy tobacco products I don't see why they don't ban this "aspartame". :(

Aspartame is an artificial sweetener and basically an ester of the amino acids phenylalanine and aspartic acid.
There's a lot of controversy goiong around lately about it and the negative effects it has on the body. If I recall, some of it eventually gets broken down into methanol, formaldehyde and formic acid(substances our bodies are not equipped to deal with)

See this link for more. There's also a thread or two here that explains it more and if you'd like I can PM you a very good documentary regarding aspartame and it's dangers. :)

I used to put sugar in but I've managed to wean myself off that habit. These days, I slice a banana (and maybe some raisins if I'm feeling devil-may-care) into my porridge, as I've found that a big bowl of wholegrain porridge is the only thing that can keep me full until lunchtime :)

thats fucking whats up!
do you normally add stuff before u microwave it, or after?
or are u hardcore and cook that shit on the stove lol
:)
All I got is fucking apple sauce and powerd cinnamon (no sugar!) lo
:)

Yeah, I'm hooked on porridge as well. Not the quick, or instant, but the rolled oats. Stove top, old school style. lol. The days I leave home without having a good hearty bowl, I don't feel fully human all day and absolutely have to have one before bed then. Many nights I have one before bed regardless. Porridge is my crack! lol

Oh, a half a handful of raisins and a tablespoon of honey in there once it's done. mmmmmmm.....

Ahh, putting things in cereal/oatmeal is like one of my favorite pastimes. I go crazy.

First of all, I mix cereals a lot. Beside that, definitely bananas and raisins, and if there are berries in the house they are most certainly going in.

Oatmeal: cinnamon, bananas, raisins (or any dried fruit) almonds. The applesauce sounds like an excellent idea, I will try it some time. With cinnamon.

I have a theory why cereal is so awesome. As a rule, we wake up dehydrated. If you pay attention, you'll notice always a thirst in the morning and a great capacity for drinking cups of water.

But most of us go straight to breakfast: cereal soaked in milk of choice. Not only is it then hydrating (or has the feeling of hydration) but there is usually an ample amount of sugar to jump-start our energy from the low energy level of sleep.

Yea\h man you're right. I learned in endocrinology that insulin levels and insulin sensitivity is highest in the morning, your body is prepped for eating and turning food into energy. That would explain the sugar craving bit. Have you ever drank a can of lucosade or coke for breakfast, you're buzzing for about 5-10 mins then it's straight back to sleep cause your body processes the glucose doubletime.

SA: Go ahead and try to cut out dextrose aka glucose from your diet. You do realise that glucose is the body's primary fuel. Every carb you eat is turned into glucose in the bloodstream. Your liver is chock full of glycogen stores which can be mobilised into glucose at any time so you might want to get rid of that too lol.

BTW: DDT saved many more lives than it cost. DDT is the reason we don't have malaria in europe and malaria ain't no joke (unlike dextrose being a toxin... lol!).

I make the tastiest oatmeal ever. First, I use organic quick oats. Then instead of adding water, I add whole milk or soy milk. I put a lot of milk, so it's closer to soupy than it is to gelatinous. I like to add cinnamon and raisins, or a shit ton of frozen strawberries or blueberries to it. Then I microwave it 2.5 minutes or so, until it's hot and thickened. Finally I'll mix in good honey; and maybe some strawberry banana flavored flaxseed oil.

Are you being facetious or what?

Glucose is completely unnecessary in the human diet. So are any other glucose polymers like starches. It all leads to unhealthy insulin resistance. Any amount at all is BAD FOR YOU.

Unless you're doing endurance aerobics or competitive athletics, the only glucose that should be flowing through your cardiovascular system is that which was converted from glycogen by your liver. Your liver is the ideal rate-limiter for blood glucose levels. Your digestive system doesn't rate limit properly.

oatmeal + banana + raw cacao nibs + dried tart cherries (if I have them) + coconut milk
