Two days without cooking - Went out for Pakistani food last night so ate my body weight in Grilled chicken and a lovely Moong bean Dall (to be copied this week) - tonight I had a chicken and potato Bake thing cooked by my other half. Wasn't the most attractive dish so failed to have its photo taken :D

Just munched a pack of Nice 'n' Spicy NikNaks. 25% extra free. And reduced to 25p a pack. Nomnomnomnomnom. NikNaks

Had a hunk o' chicken in white wine sauce pie wiv (S)mash (wiv garlic 'n' herb Philadelphia innit cos it needs using up) and beans earlier. Bloody tasty it was too.

I should have taken its photo - I had just woke up so wasn't really thinking straight. Was layers of potato, courgette, onions, peppers with lumps of chicken - all tossed in Garlic, Thyme etc (then topped with Cheese).

Not bad, not bad, Kate. Am a bit of a picky eater at times me (ie I picky the really bad for you option every time :D) so some of those look a tad too healthy for my tastes. Others look gurt lush though. And I am usually fairly easily persuaded to sample "proper" food if tickled under the chin and zshebuzshywuzshied properly.

Also, she may not be amongst us recently but have to give a massive big up to Sadie's grub whilst we're doing foody reacharounds. Unfeasibly tasty homecooking and no mistake, missus

If your looking for tips on Food Porn pictures - Don't take from above :D

If you serve it up and take from the position your going to be eating from it looks way nicer (even if out of focus [like my last photo] your brain fills in the gaps :D) Biggest rule of thumb with any picture is 'Thirds'

Look at your image as a grid of nine squares - have your main subject in one of the crossings. This avoids big areas of 'wasted' space and its easier to look at?

Also, +1 on "thirds," Bear. Who needs three years of college education to take a halfway decent pic, eh? :D

(although in terms of genuine constructive criticism (from the standpoint of having had aforementioned three years of "proper photography" training as opposed to actually being much cop meself) I would recommend taking a lil more time over some of the compositional aspects of some of your pix. Is the only "fault" I can find in 'em really. And even then it mostly comes down to taste tbh. Only mention it as you are clearly a very keen "amateur" photographer and is the one somewhat glaring aspect that suggests "amateur" on occasion. I hope that doesn't come over as offensive as I suspect it does. Please know it isn't meant that way at all. But I may as well get some kinda use outta those years of study 8))

Not offensive at all and I would like you to explain in a bit more detail if you can. As you state the composition of a photo is really down to personal preference and I would like your take on any of my pictures. Ignore the last three I uploaded (My grumpy face one, the fountain and the clouds). The grumpy face one was not about the person in focus (me) but showing the gradient of light from right to left - The fountains shot was not about the fountains but was playing with shutter speed of a new lens (70-300) so was pretty chuffed that I managed to get some 'life' in the image - The Clouds were me playing with the aperture when taking a free hand shot.

I am certainly not being sycophantic with my photos at all! I post my shots just to share what I have seen, where I have been. If you love them or hate them is your choice and has not effect on my desire to share.
