What Are You Drinking? V. Pretty Gay, Turns Out.

No problem mate. It's not especially complex, just really smooth and easy drinking. Really nice.

I could never get along with Red Stripe despite it being wot all the kewl kidz drank. Sweet lager - ick. Sweet lager that ain't 9%+ - double ick. You can get away with sickly if your percentage is stratospheric but don't get it at all for standard lager. It's meant to be crisp and dry not sickly. YMMV and all that.

Is Red Stripe what the cool kids drink? now you mention it when I've watched Boiler Room videos there always seems to be a few cans of it in the background.

I'm sure there are levels of distinction amongst the kewl kidz but Red Stripe is certainly one of those levels. Although somewhat ironically it mostly seems to be drunk warm which can't be good. Or perhaps the supposed kewl kidz I've come across just need to invest in better refrigeration facilities. It's even sweeter when warm. Ick.

There's an art gallery I know which hosts gigs that I very occasionally go along to. They serve lots of nice beers, but have a fridge dedicated to cans of Red Stripe, which seem to be a good three or four degrees above the bottled beers, many of which could actually benefit from the higher temperature. Bizarre phenomenon.

I'm drinking tea. Not drunk alcohol in a month now.

I actually went to my favourite bar and drank non-alcoholic weissbier in order to test my resolve. It held. The benefits are immense, but there are days when it'd be nice to have a couple of Brooklyn Lagers.

No, I was only intending on drinking two. I bought three as they were three for a fiver and I spilled half of the second one.

Extremely naughty

Cuppa coffee. buzzing my tits off is an understatement

kind of wish I'd bought a few beers now, however I'm trying to cut down on drinking alone. Has led to some poor choices.

Sipping on some Pepsi Max now, how hardcore.

Cans of Tuborg & Carlsberg, aint counting going so fast, beer by beer. Good choice hexagram, trust me.

Me too man, me too.

I'm drinking Kronenbourg. I had to look at the can to spell that. I don't usually drink it but hey why not. It's loan day today and also first day back at classes so I'm wondering how many people actually turn up.

Soooooo I'm starting early today, why not?

Nah, snakebite is lager and cider, half and half. Snakebite and black is lager/cider and a dash of blackcurrant. I used to live on the stuff as a student, though some pubs often refused to serve it because it gets people remarkably hammered. =D

That would indeed be a snakebite - beloved of students and pissheads everywhere. In vaguely related news, can anybody explain to me the phenomenon of the 'Mickey Mouse'? It consists of a 50/50 split of lager and bitter. I have never brought myself to even consider sampling it but was really quite popular at a pub I used to work in. Why?

In actual drinking news, gin wiv sugar-free Vimto cordial and water (technically making it a soft drink I do believe ;)). It's purely medicinal.

Three fingers is the traditional comfortable maximum.

When I was at Uni they insisted on doing a pentagram on the top with the blackcurrant like when arseholes put a Shamrock on a pint of Guiness. I was frankly insulted that I was presumed to be willing to entertain such gothy shite and had to switch my D.O.C.

I probably was a lot more militant about anything vaguely greb back then - there was a night we used to go to which played 'indie' :| in one room, and metal (mostly of the nu variety) in the other - it was us v them!
