2008 it was when he hit those 16 6s in that 152 knock off 54 balls . I wondered what had happened to the guy as he is just the sort of player England could do with in the 50 over game.
I thought that 152 was a one off but it turns out he had a stress fracture to his back .

Hi there TLM matey.

All of the wickets bar one taken by Quicks . The young lad Yadav looked good but many Sub Cont. cricketers that burst on to the scene at an early age end disappearing as quick as they arrived .

India really need a decent Quick bowler . Zaheer is to old & although i like him he is more a Swing Bowler that relies on guile rather than pace . Sharma flatters to deceive & just when you think he's not good enough will get a 5fr .

Who was the last decent consistent Indian Quick ? I think we are going to have to go way back .

Pakistan on the other hand produce plenty of good uns & then either get then involved in match fixing or wreck there careers by managing them badly .

Actually i think the ICC Champions Trophy should be the Flagship 50 over competition .

It's way better than the bloated World Cup that includes teams like Holland & the like & goes on for a fukin month & has loads of dead rubbers where the only people that benefit are the dodgy bookies.

I feel like having a few bets on this upcoming tourney, but there isnt one team that stands out enough, I think I coud get good odds on the West Indies. India too inconsistant, England have Derbach nuff said, Aussies seem to be a joke, Sri Lanka could be a good bet, not any really outstanding players. But their batting always seems to be solid in ODI'S
 
Dhoni @ 50/1 top Run Scorer oine firm was doing get on it E/w .

The guy is the best finisher in 50 over cricket & has a very good strike rate .

Michael Bevan was the master at batting out a game though . The talent the ausies had back then was ridiculous they would love to be able to leave out a Bevan these days

Kumar Sangakkara along with
Mahela Jayawardene who have over 21,000 ODI runs that Sri Lanka yeah ? That's three of the best ODI player ever to play the short game .

Is Malinga playing in tis tourney? Along with Marvan Atapattu he is my fave Sri Lankan player
 
Yeah he sure is . retired from tests in 28 because of the stress his action put's on his body .

Atapattu was a great player yeah , i loved that era of Sri Lankan cricket .
Chaminda Vaas was one of the most under rated players the game has seen & being a Left Armer he created those rough patches for Murali to work his magic along with 355 test wickets of his own & over 400 in odis.

Always will remember the New Zealand test where Vaas Bowled Sri Lanka to their 1st over seas Test win

India then. Let's face it, they have enough practice. Devastating in the last 15 with those new 20/20 like rule changes.

Seems that both are in form now.

When was the last time India had a proper Quick Bowler in your opinion ?

Is the answer Kapil Dev for me it is & he was Medium pace . I wonder why that a country with such a huge pool of talent can't produce decent fast Bowlers ?

Interesting topic mate

I had this convo with my dad a few years back. he claims its cos India is a mainly vegetarian country therefore they dont have lads who grow up to be big or strong.
Sri Lanka is also a mainly buddhist country and doesnt eat meat, I cant recall their last really fast bowler.
Then again maybe its the pitches. Even guys like Brett Lee who do well on most pitches seem to fare normally on Indian pitches which are for the most part just so flat that they dont favor fasties.

I argued with my dad that his argument was tosh as India produce tall players of athletic ability like Anil Kumble who was like 6 foot 3
he counterargued that pitches in Pakistan are similar to India and they have a plethora of fasties and eat meat

It's the pitches TLM. Marshall wasn't big, 5'10". There was no-one more dangerous to people's health.
