[VIC] Rainbow Serpent Festival 2010 - Jan 25, 2010 - Beaufort REVIEWS!!!!

i shouldn't follow this thred as it makes me feel a bit bummed I'm not going

vanth yeah they do but it seems pointless IMO- you step out of the shower into dust, dirt and mud (the same kind that's everywhere and unavoidable) for starters..

This shall be my first bush doof, and i am super pumped.

One question i have heard that with 10-15K people going, that there will be a 1-2hr wait to get in. Was just wondering from people's previous experience if this is the case and also any ways to avoid this. (Arriving at 4am in the morn!?!)

Cheers

See ya all there.

^^Not real people anyway :p

Dust showers only for the true doofers
after going for a swim monday afternoon i cant recomend a shower before you get in the pool more highly

the black ring round the edge of the water line was making me sick

i was showering each day at rainbow
made me feel better about the day ahead and feel fresher before getting trashy all over again

though i saved the washing of the dreads till the last day and there was nothing but black water coming out of them for 5 washes of shampoo
mmm dirty doof dready mank

:( will have to wait till 2011 to enjoy the new site
missing rainbow very much

It's roughly 10,000 people in years gone by but the new site may have a bigger capacity???

I doubt an entry period of 1-2 hours

Maybe late on friday arvo-night

I recommend getting there on thursday

I'm nearly fully stocked with everything i need for rainbow

14 days to go =D

Hey DrugSlave. There will be 8K people who will have tickets, they will be arriving between, Thursday lunch and Saturday morning. The peak of arrivals seems to be Friday arvo, so if you avoid that time it will be less of a queue. I think you should be pretty safe arriving at 4am in the morning.
I have always arrived on Thursday and have never experienced the queue, but have seen them from afar.

Enjoy your first Rainbow, I can assure you it won't be your last.

And Psilo, are you suggesting that I am not a true doofer :p I sneak a shower in over the weekend =D Gotta love those showers at the footy oval.

Of course I would freely admit that the only true Rainbow shower is the fire truck going through wetting the roads to keep the dust down.

Only time I've ever had to que was when we got there at like 5 on Friday arvo, waited in the car in line for a good hour or more.

Next year we arrived at Friday night (11ish) and whipped straight through.

@baysie - Thanks for the pics, I just jizzed a little ;)

I'm pretty sure you're saying this with your tongue firmly planted in your cheek buddy, or else i'd have to say that you sound like a bit of a doof elitist, which contradicts everything doofing should be about. :p ;)

I bucket washed at my first RSF (08 ) but last year took a solar shower and had a wash every day. I recycled the water by standing in the bucket and used it to wash my feet in for most of the festival, then threw the water under a tree at the end. I suffer from skin issues and can be prone to dermatitis, so i can't get too grimy and grotty, especially around my face, neck and chest. As for the rest of my body, well - call me precious, but i felt fantastic the entire time i was at Rainbow last year; refreshed and great. Much better than all dusty, etc.

:)

I didn't even know you could shower at rainbow :\ I just bucket washed. It seemed to work well :) And used nappy wipes when i couldn't be stuffed. It all depends on how trashed i am. =D

If you have access to a car and a driver in a fit state to drive, you can pay $5 at the caravan park in Beaufort for a steamy hot shower . . . . . or so I have heard . . . .=D

So what does everyone have planned costume wise this year? I hope to see some mad costumes this year as i did last, and less of that almost naked bloke with the pot belly doing his "thrust dance" behind me.

I am painting up a stomp stick with some glow paint (which turned out to be very underwhelming) and some patchwork pants along with my goggles and dust mask.

Seriously cannot wait to get my stomp on this year, not long now...

Want to get in touch with my inner hippy and not shower for the festival (but will use wipes lol) haven't even thought of a costume, hmmm might go out and buy some oldschool flight goggles.

Will be arriving thursday definately by the sounds of it. Don't want to miss a thing!!! 13 days to go!!!

If you want to shower .. take some wet ones / nappy wipes and give your bits a bit of a clean ...

either way, your feet will be caked with mud from running around without shoes on ..

the dust sinks into your skin ..

and when you get back to melb / home, you have a massive shower and you feel so good :P

then again .. the fire engine provided by FlashPoint runs around the site during the days hosing people down and as long as you dont have your wallet in your pocket .. its one of the best things getting blasted with the hose and just going ahhhhhhhhhhhhh so nice ... especially on a hot day.

they also setup sprinklers above the main dance floor and turn them on .. so nice during a hot day to have that fine mist...

on the sunday is usally the Hawaiian day so yeh.. dont forget ur Hawaiian shirt :D
