Morphine breaks down at a temperature below the boiling point of water. I have tried many different methods of making PTS and I'll list the ones I personally have found the most effective. Even though I am very aware that boiling breaks down morphine - I have tested this method solely for the purpose of reporting to you all here at Bluelight.
There are guides to the best methods of preparation that can be easily found - please search around.
As for potentiation regarding grapefruit juice:
•I find Ruby Red Grapefruit juice to be the only real effective method. Drink this 30min-1hour prior to consuming your tea.
•If you consume your tea on an empty stomach the effects will be stronger due to faster absorption.
•Adding crushed Tums (Calcium Carbonate) to your solution speeds up absorption by creating Calcium Morphenate.
•If you have access to benzodiazepines, a small amount of this will potentiate dramatically. (
Be bloody careful with this)
Do your research mate!
I'm not implying you haven't, but researching the best methods benefited me greatly. Many people are knowledgeable here.
To conclude:
Drink grapefruit prior to tea consumption, the emptier the stomach - the fuller the effect; cold water is the best method - boiling is pointless, and is inefficient; I've tried using grapefruit juice instead of water to mix the seeds in, and this doesn't increase effect - you need the enzymes from the GFJ in advance.
This post is assuming you are using this tea for recreational use. If you are using this for medical purposes, consult your doctor/physician - there is very much risk associated with poppy seed tea. Potency varies MASSIVELY.
QUOTED FROM http://poppyseedtea.com/Feedback Emails.html
The following abstract listed some ranges for various opiates found in poppy seeds.
http://www.astm.org/JOURNALS/FORENSIC/PAGES/2619.htm
"Poppy seeds from different origins contain a wide variation of morphine (2-251 mg/g) and codeine (0.4-57.1 mg/g) content."
3.5 pounds in grams = 1,587.57grams.
Morphine Range: 3.2 g to 401.6g ----> That is more than 100 times the Morphine content !!!
Codeine Range: 635mg to 90.6g
This is both drugs in one dose.
By way of reference; what doctors prescribe for post surgical levels of morphine -- that is morphine enough to eliminate the pain of having been cut open and your major organs tinkered with -- is in the range of 2.5 mg/kg to 35 mg/kg. The range depends on the type of surgery, how the morphine is administered, if the patient has previously built a tolerance ...etc. (1)
For those not familiar with what this means here it is in terms of common weights for people:
For people the dose ranges are:
50 lbs = 22.7 kg : 57 mg to 794 mg
100 lbs = 45.4 kg : 113 mg to 1.6 g
150 lbs = 68.0 kg : 170 mg to 2.4 g
200 lbs = 90.7 kg : 227 mg to 3.2 g
250 lbs =113.4 kg : 284 mg to 4.0 g
For a horse this could mean a post-surgical dose of:
850 lbs =385.6 kg : 963.9mg to 13.5g
In science and medicine terms LD50 is the dose at which half of those given that dose will die. I found several values, the upper end of which was 400 mg/kg in some rat and mice studies. (2) The values for humans will likely be different, however, given the upper end of what 3.5 lbs of poppy seeds can hold, it's clear that many times more than the LD50 are present in those seeds.
With the same weight values and LD50 dose as above the LD50 is 9.0 g for a person weighing 50 lbs 18.1 g for a person weighing 100 lbs 27.2 g for a person weighing 150 lbs 36.3 g for a person weighing 200 lbs 45.4 g for a person weighing 250 lbs 154.2g for a horse weighing 850 lbs
The LD50 for Codeine is nearly identical to Morphine. This means 3.5 lbs of poppy seeds can contain enough Codiene to easily kill a 250 lb man. And almost enough to guarantee the death of an 850lb horse. This is IN ADDITION TO the already lethal levels of Morphine. This is all based on the upper end of the opiate ranges for Poppy Seeds. At the low the Codeine content alone is enough to kill post surgical pain for all but a horse.
