TV: Lost

ya they got an extra hour for the finale, fuggin sweet!!! AHhhhh I wanna watch tonight!!! SHIT! Why can't ABC, or any site for that matter, just have *live* streaming video of free programming!?!

I heard smokey's coming back tonight....

Damn right about Smokey coming back. The script could have been slightly more polished, but it was a doozy of an episode, and certainly begins the second half of the season with a bang. I'll say no more so as not to spoil the out of country people who haven't seen it yet.

nd why does ben talk to an invisible guy named Jacob?
does ben talk to jacob anymore?
/ saw last night's episode last night
// obtaining a TV, and a freshly recorded vhs to watch it from after midnight + booze, can't remember much of the fuggin episode 8)

Loved the new episode last night. They're back on par with a series of below average episodes in the first half.

Loved how they explained how sayiid was recruited by ben becuase I was like "what? how can my favorite character become an ice cold killer?".

man he was a hardcore torturer before the island, ain't that about the same?
The first dude he put down was the guy who killed his wife and, presumably, anyone thereafter he believes are just the higher-ups who ordered the hit.

5 more eps, but the 5th one is a two hour deal.

The show airs the next 4 weeks at 10 p.m.(through May 15th), then comes back in two weeks on May 29th for the 2 hour season finale at 9 p.m.

awesome. I LOO<3OOOVE the start of summer, but this makes me, in a small way, want the time between then to go a little slow, cuz it's the only show i watch on tv. and i don't even technically watch it on tv, cuz i has me no reception, so i wait to DL.

Why does half the shit on the show happen? Who knows, just enjoy the ride...

that's totally my feeling as well. when my friends complain that they throw new stuff out there without ever giving a solid answer for past stuff, I just don't get thinking like that. I'm fascinated by the show, i love how it keeps you hanging, and i really don't need a buncha answers, as long as i continue to be entertained :D

ya but only on the day after, at which point I just dl it from....hmmm, itunes as a last resort if it comes to it, but it's all over the internet the day after.

Problem being tho, if I don't see it the day of, I almost universally will read the full synopsis the minute it's online, just can't hold back!! Addicted to a show lol, ain't that something.

((oh, and on the note of my quoted passage there, and lost addiction in general, here's how that played out. I essentially convinced someone to do this, brought them a vcr and a blank tape, had them make the tape and return it all to me about 20 minutes after it was over. I only have a pc-based setup, so we were watching that episode off a VHS tape on a ~10-12" screen, total lost fiends I tell ya!! Usually only get that crazy after long stretches of no lost, the last time we had cabling strung from a neighbor's place to ours, with a borrowed little tv, to catch the season4 premier ;) ))

^ that's some true dedication right there, and here i thought i was bad! ;)

i usually just avoid anything that will spoil it for me, and we watch it the next day either from itunes or from abc's site. i like to wait for the bf to be home so we can watch it together.

I'm an unabashed lost addict. every wednesday everything goes on hold for an hour of awesome TV and if you interrupt that you're life expectancy is in serious jeopardy. =D

man he was a hardcore torturer before the island, ain't that about the same?
The first dude he put down was the guy who killed his wife and, presumably, anyone thereafter he believes are just the higher-ups who ordered the hit.

He reformed though and helped a woman escape in one of the early flashbacks though. now he's just ice cold...Maybe I need to buy the dvd's and refresh my memory.

he's pretty much living a life he doesn't enjoy to protect his friends. how is that ice cold?

I'd say it's retained mystery and started to include much more action (which I'm liking). With the last episode, they're finally starting to introduce more of the outside of the picture power struggle (widmore, ben, dharma if they're still around lol, paik), which has always been (at least to me) one of / the most important mystery on the show.

Oh yeah bing, that's definitely the heart of it all -- who the hell ARE Charles Widmore and Ben Linus, and why are they mortal enemies? On the surface of it, Widmore fits the hollywood stereotype of the wealthy megalomaniac badguy nicely, without the cheese of any of James Bond's arch enemies, and I'd venture a guess they were once allies and friends for a common and controversial cause (the Dharma Initiative?), until one fucked over the other somehow.

The increased action has definitely made for a tenser watch every Wednesday night before I go to work -- long gone are the days I'd float into work on this peaceful image in my head of Hurley driving an old VW bus with 'Halls of Shambhala' playing in the background. The action isn't gratuitous or overdone, but it definitely has changed the mood of the show.

Is it just me, or has this show become less a mystery and more an action show?
Oh, I thought last week's had a bit of both. Of course, now that the end of the season is nearing, and the 6 people are going to get off the island(and I still don't know how), of course the action part is going to ramp up. I suspect it will be all-out war the next couple of weeks.
