Opioids Trouble Peeing on Opiates: Urinary retention issues Q&A Megathread

true man i work in a hospital were we deal with alot of orthepedic surgeries they could always place a spinal stimulater in ur back to help with the pain or even a pain pump in there to deliver pain directly in to that area such as baclofen or morphine
 
Standing at the pisser for 10 minutes isn't normal. Maybe like 2-3 minutes. Just think about running water and give it some pressure and let gravity do the rest lol

May be off on this, but whenever i need to shit and can't, i smoke a cigarette. For some reason tobacco always makes me shit. Maybe the same will work for pissing. I think it's because nicotine relaxes you.

But then again, i think have an internal nervousness and nicotine relaxes me enough to unclench my rectum :P ... probably tmi.
 
About the 10 min standing then being able to pee... im kinda in the same boat with ya man but it takes about 5 mins for me or I won't even go and hold it and then I will try again. It happens even if im sober or not. For some reason if I try to tell myself something, it will totally do the opposite..I guess I need to be able to control my mental thinking better.

Did someone say drinking water is bad for you.....---->?<

Nicotine is a stimulant and speeds up the GI tract.

To whoever said it, there is nothing wrong with sitting down to piss while on opiates. Depending on how high you are, it can take a long time to get it out. Just two days ago, I sat on the toilet for 35 minutes before anything happened. Not only sat, but I stood up to and was squeezing like a mother fucker trying to get the piss to come out. Of course, I had the sink running too. It definitely helps.

Just give it time, thats all you can do. While sitting down (or standing up. I guess it works both ways) try squeezing like you are trying to force a shit out, that really helps. I find that speeds the process up A LOT.

ways to piss, at least what works for me.

-focus on the stream.
-have running water on.
-sit down.
-sit down and bend over so your hands are on the ground or around your ankles.
-drink a lot of water so you have to piss.

otherwise i just wait that shit out, its a bitch but in my opinion its worth it if you have quality product.
 
hmmm You could always try stimulating your meatus buy playing with it... or but a fan on your junk or splash warm water on it that may help!!!!
 
pretty much can't piss at all -- from codeine

I'm an idiot. A total moron. I've taken way too much codeine. I haven't properly urinated in several hours. I can only pee tiny bits at a time and that's if I push really hard and sit down. I can hardly fucking piss and I need to know how long it will take before I can. I just read that opiates can cause this.

Probably had 500mgs total today.

I won't be sleeping until I can piss. It feels like I need to piss but I simply can't. Went to the hospital they had no idea. Fuckk!!!
 
That's really weird. Codeine makes me need to piss much more than usual and I have no trouble doing so. S'all about the poop =D

It is a common complication of benign prostatic hypertrophy (also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH), although anticholinergics may also play a role, and requires a catheter. Various medications (e.g. some antidepressants) and recreational use of amphetamines and opiates are notorious for this.

i had the same problem then found out a way to make myself pee EVERYTIME!! I know how annoying it is when you have to go an d you cant. this soluition is only for guys though...sorry ladies...anyway...try to picture this....take your right hand and hold the shaft of your dick...then take your left hand and spit in the palm...rub the tip (hole of your dick) in a circular motion with the palm of your left hand...it should tickle alot causing your body to naturally piss. It might take a few tries but TRUST ME...it works EVERYTIME. It sounds weird...i know...but I hate it when i couldnt piss and i had to. Anyway...if anyone tries it let me know how it works ot for you.

hey i found a good way to pisslisten to some headphones fill up the sink and submerge your hand in hot water if that dosent work geta disposable cup and fill it halfway up with warm water andpot your cock in it then switch it to coldwater, but when im urinary retained i sut d own and my freind touches the water and that along with music help me pee
 
For some reason i only had this problem when i first started to take opiates . after i begun opiate therapy it rarley ever happens the only time it really happens is if my doctor ups my dose and my body is still getting used to it .

But when i first started goooooooodamn it would take forever and then after 1 little drip i new i was on my way to success lol.
