let us be the judges of that :)

and once all the mixes are up we will make a POLL for all of the bluelighters in this forum who want to have a say in the matter...but i really hope all of you who vote in the poll have listened to all the mixes and aren't just supporting your friends! Thanks...if everyone has listened im hoping the popular choice will agree with what us mods think, although the mods are not going to vote the same as the popular choice (unless we agree) we are going to each choose who we think is BEST!

Ok guys i ran into a slight problem this week... I just started a new job and i had to keep my old one in case my new one falls through after the trial period. So now i'm working 9-5 then 6-10 everyday except for weekends. Its really really hard for me to have time to make this mix but i'm staying up and losing sleep trying to get it done.

I might not have it done by the deadline which is this saturday i believe? I just wanted to know if I could submit it a bit later on like somewhere between now sometime next week. I dont know.. it should be done soon.

I'm currently remixing some of the tracks, and i just finished my very first self produced track which is also going to be in the mix. There is a lot of work left to be done.

I would rather not submit a mix that which I think is not done to the best of my abilities. If I have to submit it by the deadline, I will do so, but it will probably not be as good as it could have been. So its pretty much up to you guys..

Let me know..

BTW... I listened to all the mixes and they're all great.. I will be PMing you guys with my feedback as soon as I get the chance in case you dont want it posted here.. If you dont mind.. let me know..

is it just me or has the progressive genre really hit a major hault lately. I haven't really followed the prog tunes since around 2000, but it seems every prog mix that see lately has the same tracks with the same obligatory breaks tracks. grayarea, that momu track, etc, etc. and others like it have been on every prog mix ive seen for the last few months.

if this is just a little mudslinging before the contest deadline then disregard the following...

I agree to a certain extent, I really hate hearing the same tracks over and over again (that one with the "in deep space... any crew?... negative" sample - good tune, but heard it everywhere). I really try to avoid sounding like everyone else (if its possible)by not paying attention to release dates, taking cues from different genres and trying to aviod being realy obvious with my track selection (something I still need a lot of work on). I got really jaded towards the dark progressive sound and now try to get techy-er bangin stuff. hard to find, but makes mixing really fun.

anyway, can't wait to see how this thing turns out.

no mudslinng....just drunken rambling. I had one (or ten) too many last night

*runs off to find the alleve*

in other words, ignore what i said last night, i was really hammered

I disagree that prog mixes are all sounding the same...

I'm finding that progressive music is continuing quite well on it's journey...that journey being to no end but constant change and progression into new ideals and new forms. A progressive DJ has the opportunity to transcend many different genres within a single mix...but it doesn't always sound good...thus this is where the good and the bad are defined and placed.

As with any genre....there is a heavy saturation of producers that are just putting anything out because they can...and because there are small labels that will press their material in hope of getting high ranks amongst the top jocks.... Keep your ears peeled and open...you'll continually find suprises so long as you dig deep.

You slinging towards me on this one?

no it was just a thought on prog in general, but it was just drunken "talkin out my ass" lol. I just notice on local mixes, and a lot on the GU board, all the mixes posted seem to have mostly the same tracks in a different order. I can see how songs get so overplayed, just a trend i noticed in demos ive seen tracklistings for lately.

just listened to rock lobters. I'm diggin it man. The is the usual sound i tend to stick to as well. Though i'd try a bit different for my mix here, but i really like yours

mystic - like you mix man. I'm really not a huge fan of latin or vocal house, but once I got past that stuff I really got into it. nice work.

listening to rock's now...
